Senior year!
Corey waded through the crowded hallway of Thompson High, trying to get his ass to his locker and get to class before the morning bell rang. Wouldn't be a good impression to be late on day one.
The past three years had been a blur. A boring one at that. Thompson High was a huge school with ample opportunities for extracurricular activities to make the four year drag of highschool more exciting, but Corey had avoided all of that in favor of a more solitary existence. A friend or two and his books and video games were all he needed to survive a quiet existence. At least that's what he told himself.
"Hey dude," called out Owen as he slapped Corey on the shoulder.
"Hey, how goes it, amigo?" Corey replied.
"Ah, not much. Sad to be in this brick hell hole for another year. You?"
"Happy it's only one more year. I can't wait to get outta here man."
"Least you've got some college prospects lined up. I'll probably just end up working at my dad's company like everyone else in the family," Owen said with a sigh.
"Dude, you'll end up making bank working there. I'd skip college too if it got me six figures a year," responded Corey.
"You say that now," said Owen with an eyeroll.
The pair came to their lockers, which were perpetually next to each other since middle school due to their last names being damn near identical. As a matter of fact, people mistook them for brothers on more than one occasion because of their names and the fact they were inseparable since 4th grade.
Corey stuffed his backpack in his locker and grabbed his books before spinning around and leaning against the row of lockers.
"So, have you seen Allison lately?" asked Corey.
Owen gave him a sharp look.
"Fuck her, man. She cheated on me with that asshole and yet you still want me to work it out?"
Corey shrugged.
"I don't know. I'd be pissed too, but at least you had someone. Going it alone kinda blows," Corey retorted with a huff.
"Since when are you the dating type? I thought you said dating in highschool is overrated?"
"Well I...," Corey began before the five minute warning bell sounded.
"Shit. Hold that thought. I'll see you after third period," Owen said as he began to rush to his first class.
Corey took a deep breath and pushed away from his perch and began dodging around the tide of students headed to start their day.
First and second period were a total snooze. Taking math and English this early in the morning was a recipe for a lot of drowsiness, but it got the boring stuff out of the way at least. Corey stumbled into the hall, beginning the short walk to third period biology and stealing quick glances at his classmates.
Corey wasn't a popular kid on campus, but he wasn't disliked either. He ran the fine line of just under the radar to go unnoticed by the bullies and popular crowd, while still avoiding getting labeled an antisocial recluse. He mostly preferred his lifestyle, but seeing his friends begin to meet girls and start dating had made him feel a little like a fifth wheel.
As he rounded the corner to the science wing, Corey crashed head on into a woman, knocking both of their books to the ground.
"Oh damn, I'm so sorry," said the woman quickly. "You came out of nowhere."
"I...ah...sorry. Let me help you," Corey responded as he kneeled down to collect their things.
He looked up, meeting this unfamiliar woman's eyes. They were a deep blue with tiny green specks scattered around the iris. Her hair was auburn and tied up in a bun., but a few strands had come loose from the collision and fallen across one of her eyes.
"You okay there, pal?"
Corey snapped out of it and realized he'd been staring.
Fuck, I must look like a total creep, he thought.
"Uh, yeah. I'm fine. Sorry for the mess," he stammered.
"No worries. It's a little crazy here today."
"No kidding, " Corey said with a slight smile.
He passed her her notebook and stood up.
"Thanks for the help. Better get moving though or we'll both be late," she mentioned with a nod.
She stood up and moved past Corey, disappearing into the river of people. He stood there a moment before trotting down the hall and entering his classroom.
He chose a desk and sat watching people shuffle in before the the bell, admiring a few of the cheerleaders that he never even dared talk to. Right before the bell, a now familiar face entered the room. It was the same woman he'd run into in the hallway.
"Ok class, let's all settle down. I'm Ms. Kline and will be your new advanced biology teacher this year."
Wow. Talk about coincidence, thought Corey. Just moments ago he'd run into this person and now she turns out to be his teacher. Guess that's one way to meet the teacher.
Ms. Kline went on to tell a little about herself before explaining her expectations and going over the syllabus, but Corey couldn't seem to really focus. Instead, he found himself watching her gentle movements as she spoke, the curve of her hips, her slender legs, and how her tight button down shirt accentuated her boobs.
Corey felt his dick twitch and his heart quicken.
I've never seen such a beautiful woman, he thought to himself.
Corey remained spaced out for much of the class and didn't realize the bell had rung during his reverie.
"Ahem."
Corey jumped a little and looked up to see Ms. Kline looking at him strangely.
"Already daydreaming on the first day, huh? I'm either incredibly boring or you've got senioritis already," Ms. Kline said.
"I'm sorry. You're definitely not boring. I'm just out of it. I promise I'll pay better attention tomorrow," he explained.
She gave him a quizzical look and smiled.
"You better. You should probably get your butt to your next class though. And try not to run into anyone else while you're at it."
Corey laughed and obeyed, jumping out of his seat and husseling to history class.
*****
"What's with the wide eyed stare?" asked Owen as Corey sat down at the desk next to his.
"Nothing really. Pretty sure I've got the hottest teacher in the school for biology though," Corey answered.
"Niiiiice. I'm jealous. I've got Mr. Richards for bio."
"Ouch," Corey laughed.
"I'm just glad you're actually taking interest in women for a change, dude. It's aboutdamn time you start admiring the beautiful sights"
"I've always been interested, I just haven't acted on it. I'm not exactly most people's type."
"Bullshit," Owen responded. "Jenna had a massive crush on you for years!"
Corey shrugged.
