"Would you stop fidgeting?" Alexander commanded from the taut leather chair, spine stiff and proper, ankles crossed decorously.
"I'm not fidgeting!" Kris cried, glaring at Alexander from her upside down position while lying across the foot of the bed, head dangling. She drooped both arms off the side and let her knuckles drag on the floor. "Look how long my arms are."
"Yes yes, marvelous." Alexander licked one dainty finger, turned a page. No, his eyes did not move from the book.
One leg kicked up straight into the air, ankle rotated. "My legs are long too."
"Mmm hmm."
Kris sighed dramatically and continued to twist her ankle back and forth. She started to hum a tavern song... poorly, snapping her foot to the rhythm. Then she suddenly stopped, tried to catch the tune, tried again.
"Alexander, how does that part go?" Her voice sounded guttural, and very unladylike, from her upside down position. Blood was flushing her skin as she hung there.
"Hmmm?"
"You know, this part. How does it go again?" She hummed the previous notes quickly.
"Oh, uh," Alexander stopped momentarily and hummed a few spare notes.
"Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah!" she interrupted and finished the song.
Silence filled the room. Alexander turned a page.
"What are you reading?" Kris feigned interest.
"Hmm?"
"The book. What is it?" In a huge, sensational burst of energy Kris flung herself onto her belly, thrust her fists under her chin and blinked her eyes at Alexander. She kicked her legs up and down, thwapping them against the mattress with great enthusiasm.
"Oh this? Just a... journal on anatomy. It's quite fascinating."
"Oh yeah?"
"Mmm hmm. I'm just reading about the pressure points in the foot. It's quite incredible how much of the body is connected to the foot. Fascinating, actually."
"Oh."
"Yes see here." Alexander raised the book and showed Kris a diagram of a foot, divided into several sections and labeled. "This spot here can control something so seemingly disconnected as the lungs. Can you just imagine?"
"Wow, yeah."
"This here is connected to your small intestine. This to your heart. This little spot here to your pituitary. Who would have thought? Oh and this is connected to your genitals."
"My what?"
"Your... you know... lady bits."
"My foot is not connected to my... lady bits." Kris pouted. "Maybe your foot is connected to your... lady bits." She waved her hand to emphasize her point.
"I do not have lady bits." Alexander glared at her over his book.
"Well according to your foot diagram you do."
Alexander sighed, his patience saintly.
Kris narrowed her eyes at him and pondered. Then she spun around and thrust her foot out at him. "Okay then show me. Control my lady bits."
"I'm reading."
"Noooooooooo, control my lady bits... come on..." Kris whined and poked her toe against Alexander's book.
"You're going to damage the binding," Alexander protested and tried to sit farther back in the chair, book inches away from his face.
Kris just stretched farther, couldn't quite reach and just waved her foot strenuously in front of him instead. "But my lady biiiiiiiiiits."
