She had been waiting to meet him for weeks. They first started talking two months ago, when they were matched through an online dating service. She only signed up because she wanted to explore her options... She never imagined she would end up emotionally cheating on her boyfriend of two years.
It was a matter of fact that she was growing apart from Josh, yet the years of work she'd put into their relationship stopped her from leaving. Call it the sunken cost fallacy.
Josh and her always had fun, she loved his goofy sense of humour. Sometimes, when laying in bed together, he would bleat like a goat until she was laughing so hard she couldn't breathe. It was nice. But you can't have a healthy relationship if your boyfriend refuses to talk about his feelings...at all. Even worse if he lies to you about them.
Julio was different. He was mature, he knew what he wanted, and he knew how to communicate it. And it turns out Julio and her wanted similar things from life. They both had ambition, a plan for their futures, and family values. Talking to Julio over the past month allowed her to realize what romantic compatibility really meant.
That's how she ended up leaving Josh. Julio had known she had a boyfriend - and while their conversations were emotional, they were never sexual. She saw Julio as an opportunity to innocently flirt, but on some level she knew it was far from harmless. They connected so well, they agreed on so much... And it all felt effortless.
Yesterday, an hour before she was supposed to arrive at Josh's apartment for dinner, she called him to deliver the news. She has felt like they were growing apart, they have different priorities in life, and she had been talking to someone else. He slammed the phone down.
She knew how abrupt and awful her breakup call was. She should have told Josh in person. Feeling like a coward, she called Julio to tell him about the breakup. They talked for hours that night.
Today, she was waiting outside Julio's building. He was on his way to let her in, the front door didn't have a buzzer. She did feel nervous, this was the first time they would meet in person. When they spoke this morning, they both said they were ready for her to stay the night, if the feeling was right.
And she was ready. She had on her black pencil skirt and a black low-cut blouse. She felt sexy.
Julio appeared in the open doorway and held the door as she entered the building. On the other side of the door, she stood back slightly to take him in. He had lovely smooth skin, which peaked out beneath the cuffs of his navy blue button down. She could glimpse his dark tanned arms. He watched his lips curl into a slow smile and he extended a hand out to reach hers. "Wanna go upstairs?"
Meeting him face to face, sitting on his couch and chatting with him, she actually was having fun. It was nice to be able to connect emotionally so easily. Holding their glasses of red wine, eventually they got to the topic of her breakup with Josh. Julio already knew the details, even the breakup line she gave Josh over the phone. She went on to explain her feelings of guilt relating to her and Julio's emotional affair.
"It's just that I feel like I'm already moving on from Josh."
"So that makes me a homewrecker?" He smirked softly.
"Perhaps? Does that bother you?"
"Not at all."
"I love that." She realized she was only being partially sarcastic with that comment.
They found themselves gazing into each others' eyes for several moments. They couldn't ignore their powerful sexual chemistry. "Is it alright if I kiss you?" Julio asked intently, but gently.
She responded by leaning in and letting her lips meet his. She was lost in her feelings of desire, lost in the warmth and softness of her lips meeting hers. She let her tongue probe between his lips gently, and she could feel his hand slide up her thigh towards the hem of her skirt. With every inch his hand slid, she felt herself part her legs ever so slightly.
