A long time friend, Becka, invited me to a summer party at her family's farm. Although, I didn't know many people, it was great to be out of the city. It was a gorgeous afternoon. I mingled and made small talk.
Becky flagged me over. "Jill, you remember Trevor."
"Yes, of course. We shared some classes in high school." I shook hands with the tall, dark-haired man next to her.
We'd all gone to the same school about ten years ago. I didn't know Trevor very well. Classmates and casual acquaintances. Although Trevor and I weren't close, our paths crossed through Becka. They'd been tight and had a short fling.
"Trevor, Jill is one of our more successful grads. She's into big money finance."
He gave an impressed nod.
I was quick to correct Becka's description. "Other people's 'big money'. Mine's pretty modest."
Without a pause, Becka continued her host chores, "Trevor's working up the sports management ladder."
"I'm still on a low rung." He elaborated. "An assistant to the real agents."
I liked his modesty. Lots of guys pump up their status.
"I've got to greet more people. You two get re-acquainted. Take advantage of the farm. Let me, or the staff, know if you need anything."
We both watched her walk away.
"Same old Becka," Trevor said. "She doesn't brag about the family money, but, 'the staff' thing gives her away."
"Yah, and this place. Still, she's pretty level for all the family dough." Becka's family had been the richest at our high school. It was fairly upscale, but most kids with her resources attended private school. Becka had insisted on attending where the close friends she made before her father made it big did.
Trevor continued the conversation with a wave to the property. "This is quite a spread. It's the first time I've been here. But, I don't see much farming."
"I've visited a couple times. It's more an upscale horse estate than farm. It fits with the nearby vineyards. And, it's undeniably beautiful." We took in the fields, barn, pool and large house with a view of the foothills.
I asked, "So, you've stayed in touch with Becka?"
"Nah. We ran into each other at an event in town a couple of months ago and connected for a dinner. It was nice to catch up. I was surprised she invited me today."
"She's the queen of sociability. I'm jealous of how she works, does charity and keeps a lot of plates spinning at once. And, doesn't seem to break a sweat. She's my role model."
Getting drinks at the bar, we settled in to chairs by the pool. We reminisced and exchanged information about mutual acquaintances. Trevor was better looking than I remembered. And, we'd both matured to be less awkward and more confident. He looked great in a golf shirt and summer slacks. I felt attractive in a favorite sky blue sundress with a water pattern. As we talked, I toyed with the strap of my bra. His eyes kept slipping from my face.
After a few drinks, he suggested we take a walk and explore the farm. Strolling under the trees on the grassy trails next to the stream chased away any remaining city tension.
The sun was warm, the views were great, the wine mellowing and the talk was easy. We laughed and joked as we chatted about jobs and travel. He was a good conversationalist. Interested and interesting. Although we didn't really know each other, Trevor didn't feel like a stranger because of our shared past. I started to touch his forearm and pat his hand as we strolled. He reciprocated by brushing my shoulder. It felt good.
I don't know what possessed me. Maybe I was warm. Or, I was a bit buzzed. Most likely, I was horny in the blissful setting and from not having had sex in a while. But, I said, "I'm hot. If you don't mind I'm going to take off my bra." I know, slutty move. I didn't feel subtle.
He was taken aback, but recovered quickly. "I don't mind at all. Please get comfortable."
I deftly removed the light bra. He'd certainly seen the pink straps. But, I made sure the intimate lace caught his eye before I slipped it in my purse. I stretched my arms and gave him a "that feels better smile." His mouth opened a bit as he stared at my nipples stretching the thin material of the sundress.
