The further adventures of Liz the Agent. The previous stories in the series will help set the scene if you are new. If you want to know more about Liz, my story Justice gives her back story.

A few weeks had passed since Ali had suggested that we lived together, and I had rebuffed him. The plant equipment shipments were now only a few days away. They had been offloaded at Felixstowe and were awaiting final shipping having cleared customs. I had all the paperwork to hand. I had personally dismissed all the staff at three sites, basically telling them that when the business had been sold, that those sales had not included transferring the staff to the new owners. The same had happened at the Leeds site, however Ali had met with George, the main mechanic, and had determined he could be rehired, it seems that they had come to an agreement.

New signage had been ordered for each site and had started to be installed, and Ali had organised a marketing and advertisement campaign, mostly on local radio. Everything seemed to be moving ahead with the new legal business that would enable Ali to legitimise some of his less than legitimate income.

"We'll go out for a meal," he said, "to celebrate the first arrivals. Where do you want to go?"

"Okay," I replied, "let's have a Chinese."

I thought that he did well to not pull a face, I know he isn't that keen on Chinese food, but I am, and so, I chose. Well, he had asked where I wanted to go, so bad luck Ali, suck it up. He said that he would pick me up at around six thirty and that gave me an opportunity to get ready.

I had a rare bath, usually a shower suffices, and a soak in luxury bath salts. I had been at the Leeds site most of the day, and always felt grubby when I came away from site even though I wasn't hands on, just in the office. George, the newly rehired site manager, was quite enthusiastic about the new future, I just thought it was early days yet, let's see if there is an appetite locally for small Chinese built plant.

Agreements had been made and I was being paid eight thousand pounds sterling a month into a Bangladeshi bank. I had set up an account in the Caymans, amazing how easy such things are these days, and would be transferring half of the Bangladeshi money to there, I would have irons in two fires should I need them. I was also being paid two thousand pounds sterling a month into my new UK business account. That I would declare and pay tax and national insurance on. There was no point in setting up a pension plan, one reason was that I was using a false identity, the other being that people in my line of work didn't usually retire and collect a pension. No, my foreign accounts were my pension plan. Any odd cash that Ali gave me I was stashing in a safe box in the garage roof. Flight funds if you will.

The bath water was warm and lapped over my groin, a small tickle of pleasure, not enough to warrant play, but enough to give me a pleasant glow. Once finished and dried I went and selected my lingerie. Peach lace bra and suspender belt, no knickers of course, hate the things, and an ivory mid length dress with deep front to show my cleavage. This would be worn with black patent four inch heels and sheer nude stockings with a rear seam. I knew that I would look stunning, a lot of money had been invested in my body by the Government, mostly so that other parts of the government couldn't find the real me, but it gave me a heck of a confidence when I had to undertake these undercover roles. Far more confidence than I had ever had as Emily.

At the appointed time Ali rang my door bell and I left the house, locked up and followed him to his car. It was a short journey, relatively, to the restaurant, just on the outskirt of central Bradford, which was a surprise as Bradford wasn't known for Chinese cuisine. We were shown to a ground floor table that wasn't next to the window or to the kitchens, a pretty good spot.

We looked through the menu's and chose the crispy duck pancakes to start, doesn't everyone? Mains were to be a curry for Ali and a special chow mein for me. Bottled water and a glass of white wine for me, Ali having a Chinese beer.

"I hope that these venture works," I said to Ali.

"Indeed, but if it doesn't, we will simply try something else. It is a very good idea that you had, certainly not one I would have thought of, my ideas were limited pretty much to small cash ventures such as Barber shops or Pizza houses."

"And they are fine, but they are well known by the Revenue to be potential money laundering ventures, it puts you under the spotlight. This is totally different. It might only do a few thousand each month at each site, but it should be invisible to the Revenue. Plus it has provided a conduit for your other requirement." That of course being his gun running.

We chatted over the starters, mostly how we hoped to take the ventures forward and I was just finishing my glass of wine when Ali grabbed my arm.

"Hush Liz. Go to the toilet, go now and stay there for ten minutes, just do as I say, go."

I just looked at him? What was he going on about?

"Liz, go now, I am not joking. When you come out, get an Uber home."

The penny suddenly dropped, okay, so, rather than the toilets I walked past them into the kitchens, and out of the other side and into a different street. I dialled the special number Ali had given me for his drivers, the Ali's Uber number, and called it.

"It's Liz, there's an Issue."

"I can see you," the driver said, "get in the back and sit down low."

Up the street a car flashed its lights and then accelerated and stopped next to me, I got in the back.

The driver was talking on his mobile phone, he didn't realise, but I could understand every word. He was telling someone to get people here now, that the Boss was in trouble, come prepared.

"Right Liz, let's get you home, I am sure the Boss will want to know that you are safe."

"Thank you," I said, "I have no idea why, but he just told me to go and hide for ten minutes. I thought it best to ring you."

"You did the right thing. Now, enjoy the ride, we won't be speeding or calling attention to ourselves."

I sat back. I guessed Ali spotted an enemy or a rival crime lord or whatever they called each other, and not knowing how it might go, he just wanted me out of harm's way. It took about fifteen minutes to get home, and once inside I closed and locked the door, made myself a cup of tea, and sat in the lounge looking out. I had the lights off, no one could see me, but I would see anyone outside.

I could see Victor standing at the edge of his drive looking down the street. I had never noticed him do that before. The Uber that bought me home was a legitimate Uber taxi, the driver just had a different private mobile number. It would look like an innocent regular taxi, so nothing to arouse suspicion. What was Victor up to?

I sat there for about an hour before Ali appeared. Victor had gone in a few minutes before and so the bit of the street I could see was empty. Ali walked up my drive. I got up and unlocked and opened my door.

"What was that all about?" I asked him.

He shut the front door behind me and we went and sat in the lounge, again with the lights off.

"I have competitors," he said, "and sometimes, they see things differently to me."

"Was it an attempted hit?" I asked, it was all I could think of.

"I believed so. However, what you did, which was an excellent piece of thinking, meant that my men were able to turn the tables."

"Do you know who your competitor is?"

"Indirectly. No one actually knows what he looks like. He runs Leeds, but it is all done remotely, not even his people ever see him. He could be in jail for all I know, although I doubt that, but he will be sent a message. He may want to take over Bradford, but he will meet more resistance than he will be able to deal with."

"When was he last seen? I am assuming it is a man, are there any female bosses?"

"About six or so years ago, but his organisation has grown with him at the helm but invisible. He could be anywhere."

He put his hand in his pocket and brought out a gun and put it on the table.

"Take this, carry it with you in your handbag. It is small and will save your life one day."

I knew guns, I had trained on them, and this was a SIG Sauer P365. But Ali didn't need to know that I knew about guns.

"What? A gun? I have no idea how to use a gun."

He picked the gun up. "This lever is the safety. Up means it won't fire, down means it will. Then you just point and squeeze the trigger. Keep it in your handbag."

"Aren't guns individual? If I fire it won't the police be able to track it back to this gun?"

"Every gun is honed after it is fired, that means that the rifling is new, no one can trace this gun."

"I have no idea what that means, but okay. I don't like guns."

"It will save your life."

"What happened after I left?"

"Three men came in and were about to take me away when my team appeared and instead we took them away."

"What happened to them?"

"They are being spoken to."

"What do you mean, spoken to?"

"We will find out who sent them and why?"

"What happens if they won't speak?"

"Everyone speaks."

"How do you do that? Make them talk I mean."

"You don't want to know."

"No, you are right, I don't want to, but I need to. Remember I used to be in Birmingham with similar people."

"You won't like this."

"Tell me."

"They are taken somewhere and stripped. They are beaten and then nailed to a wall."

"What do you mean nailed?"

"Using concrete bolts through their hands."

"Jesus."

"Then we ask them questions. We tell them that if they tell us what we want to know then we will let them go, if not, they die."

"And do they, talk I mean, usually?"

"The second one does usually after he has seen us cut the first guys cock and balls off."

"My God, but then the guys in Birmingham did similar."

"You asked."

"I know, and do you let them go?"

"Of course we don't. You know what we do with the saw. We cut their feet off. We send their balls and feet to their boss. Only in this case, we don't know where their boss is."

I had a pretty good idea. I reckoned that it was Victor. Could be coincidental, but everything fitted. I wasn't going to mention that to Ali though.

"The one thing I am not going to do is visit any of the new locations, I don't want him, whoever he is, to associate them with me. They are your bag."

"Okay. Suits me."

"If they saw me in the restaurant with you, or they know where you live, they will already have associated you with me."

"Hence the gun."

After a bit of discussions on business, he suggested perhaps we went upstairs, I begged off saying, really, after what happened tonight, I just wasn't in the mood, I was too scared. Perhaps tomorrow. He graciously nodded and left.

Shit. A gun. This was getting serious, but then I always knew it might. I was okay with guns, I just didn't want Ali to know I was. I checked the gun to make sure it was functional, and put it away in my handbag.

After a reasonable night's sleep, I showered and dressed in Jeans and small sweater. I planned to go to George's yard and see the containers arrive. I was just sipping a cup of tea when the doorbell rang. I could guess who it was. I opened the door, I was right.

"Oh hello Victor, I am off out soon, would you like a cup of tea, I have a few minutes before I go."

"Yes, that would be nice, thank you."

I re-boiled the kettle and quickly made him a tea. We sat in the conservatory, I would check for bugs after he had left. I wondered if he ever wondered what happened to the original bug he planted. I never mentioned it, why would I?

"How's lover boy?" He was referring to Ali.

"Not exactly a lover boy, just a neighbour Victor as you well know."

"I was just wondering."

"Well, as far as I know."

"Okay." I could tell that he was dying to say something about last night, I wondered if he would.

"Okay, and you, how are you doing Liz?"

"I am fine Victor, and how is your tea?"

"Good thanks."

"Did you have a good time last night? I saw that you went out together but came back separately."

"Oh you saw that? Well, we went out, yes but then something cropped up work wise for him, so I got a taxi and left him to it, I don't like to get involved in business as I think I told you before."

Victor looked at me, and I was sure that he was going to say something else, but he didn't, he just smiled and shook his head.

"Okay Liz, if you say so," he answered, I let it slide.

"Nothing new from your police man friend then? No new allegations?"

"No, nothing Liz, nothing."

"Seems like we have nothing to add then Victor."

I was tiring of Victor and his games. I was pretty sure he was the one that set up last nights attack on Ali, would the attack have included me I wondered. In a way I was glad for the gun.

After Victor had gone I sent an email to the Agency outlining my suspicions. They would be able to look at historic photos and compare them to the Victor of today and see if there was a correlation.

At the Leeds yard, the delivery of the container was interesting to watch. I had assumed a crane would be needed, but no, the lorry simply reversed in, the bed tilted and the container slid off. I checked the documentation and the seal numbers, every thing matched, nothing had been tampered with as far as I could tell, and so George cut the seals and opened the container. It was completely rammed, every space seemed taken up.

Using the forklift, George emptied the container and soon the yard was littered with equipment on pallets. We went through the inventory, and nothing was missing and nothing seemed damaged. George spent another hour moving everything into better positions, and then a second lorry arrived, and the whole process was repeated. Satisfied with the delivery I left George to it and headed back home. I had some photos on my phone to show Ali, although I wasn't sure if he would be interested, after all, it was just money laundering to him, he had no actual interest in the plant that his company would now be selling.

Back home I had just slipped my shoes of and was thinking about a cup of tea when the doorbell rang. I opened the door to be greeted by Alice.

"Come round," she said, "come round to mine. Alan is out so, come round."

"Er, okay. Give me a minute."

I had intended to have a shower but it seems my presence was required next door at Alan and Alice's place, especially it seemed, as Alan wasn't going to be at home.

Alice's front door was ajar, so I pushed it open and called out.

"Come in, come in," Alice called back from the kitchen.

I slipped my shoes off and shut the front door behind me. In the kitchen Alice was sitting at her table and there was another woman sat there. She was probably in her thirties, had short elf like black hair and was wearing an almost sheer dress that showed way less than it looked as if it would. Strategically placed extra lace accomplished that.

"This is Moira. Moira, this is Liz."

"Hello Moira, pleased to meet you," I said, hovering and not sure whether to sit or not.

"Hello Liz, Alice has told me a lot about you, and I am finally really pleased to meet you."

"Oh, okay then, thank you."

I decided to sit down, I was really unsure what was going on.

Moira was looking me up and down and really giving me a critical examination as I sat. I did feel a little uncomfortable.

"Liz, I am with serious crimes."

Well, I wasn't expecting that, as sure as hell not the way she was dressed.

"Er, okay, may I ask what that has to do with me?"

"Not directly you Liz, more a neighbour."

Oh this could be awkward if they wanted my help to work on Ali.

"Which one?" I asked.

"The man opposite, Victor. I see that you and he socialise."

"Socialise? Well, we sometimes chat over a cup of tea, that is as much as. I don't really know that much about him. He says he is retired."

"Yes. Only, we don't think he is. Would it be possible if I came back to your house with you and talked."

"Well, I suppose, but, forgive me, what has this to do with Alice?"

"Oh nothing, Alice and I were at school together years ago, and I was just paying a social call, we usually just text, but I was in the area and so I thought I would drop in and see her and then I realised who was opposite."

"Oh, okay then."

I stood up and went and gave Alice a hug.

"See you later Al," I said as I left, Moira following.

Back home I asked Moira if she would like a cup of tea or coffee, she declined.

"Liz," she started, "can we go upstairs, I would like to see your front room."

"Er, yes of course."

Well, it didn't sound like a sexual opening, shame, she looked quite attractive. I lead the way up and showed her my bedroom which overlooked the front, and then my small box room, which I didn't use. It also over looked the front.

In the box room Moira looked through the windows, and then turned to me.

"This room would be perfect for what I want. Let's talk, shall we sit on your bed for a while and I can explain what I am thinking."

"Er, yes, okay." I went next door into my bedroom and sat on my bed, propping up my pillows behind me, she could sit where she liked. She sat sideways on the edge, facing me.

"I can't go into details, but I would like your permission to place some monitoring equipment in here, it would face Victor's house. It would connect to your wifi and send encrypted messages to us. Once we have set up, we wouldn't need to come back. All we would ask is that you don't come into this room, the equipment is quite sensitive and we wouldn't want it accidentally knocked for example."

I drew my knees up and wrapped my arms around my legs, completely forgetting my underwear situation. I looked at Moira and gave her request some thought. I was in a difficult position, the Agency may have wanted to do exactly the same thing, but I also didn't want to seem in any way obstructive to the police.

"This might sound a silly question, but how do I know that you are who you say you are?" I said.

"I don't have my warrant card with me today, as I said, this was just a social call on Alice. Before anything happens you will see my identity, and anyone who comes here to do anything will also have full identification on them. You can ask Alice about me too."

"Okay. He told me he has friends in the police."

"He assuredly does. Is that an okay we can do the work?"

"I guess. Seems odd to me, honestly, I didn't know police did this kind of thing. Is he some kind of criminal, drugs or something?"

"I really can't say Liz."

"Oh, okay." I wondered if I should mention this to Ali. If he should find out he wouldn't be happy, and if he knew, he also wouldn't be happy. I might sell it to him as trying to appear an honest citizen.

"Alice says that you and she have been quite close," Moira said, her eyes focussing a little lower than my face.

"Yes, indeed. I love your outfit by the way."

"Thank you, it came from China, so cheap."

"Yes, I also get stuff from China, as you say, so cheap, it is just the delivery time."

"Yes, sometimes you see something and you just want it straight away, no waiting." Her eyes were definitely not on my face.

"I know what you mean, sometimes you just want what is on display."

"You just don't always know if it is available or not."

"No. I am though." Enough pussy footing around. I moved my arms away, no doubt now. "Available that is."
