As he neared Gordon’s house on the Saturday evening before Halloween, Matt noticed a tall female wearing a Batwoman outfit approaching from the opposite direction.
“Evening, Batwoman. You here for Gordon’s party?”
“Uh, yeah, I am, Batman. It looks like we planned this, doesn’t it?”
“Sure does. We could even be a couple and they’d never know it.”
“Let’s! Let’s pretend we’re together and fool everyone. I’m, er, I’m Emily.”
“Matt.”
“So, our story is we met at the costume shop yesterday, had a drink together last night and decided to come together now.”
“Quick and easy story and if we’ve just met, they can’t be grilling us about each other.”
“Great,” she answered as she slid her hand in his before he rang the doorbell.
“Come on in. Welcome!” said the Sasquatch host Gordon, “Jenn and I were wondering when you’d show up, Matt.”
“Right on time, like always. Uh, I’d like to introduce you to Emily. Emily, this is Gordon, a real PIA if there was ever one, but he’ll grow on you if you don’t throw a drink in his face first.”
“Aww, come on, Matt. I’m not that bad.”
“Probably not, or at least you wouldn’t be married to a saint. Where’s Jenn, anyway?”
“In the kitchen with some of the other girls.”
“Maybe I should introduce you around. How many couples are here tonight, anyway?”
“Four, plus now you two make five.”
“Good. Emily, let me introduce you to them and don’t worry, there won’t be a quiz at the end of the evening.”
“Glad to hear it.”
“Since I don’t know you,” he whispered as they moved through the living room, “I’ll introduce you to everyone even though I’m sure you know some of them.”
In the kitchen and later in the living room, he was able to introduce her to everyone. When asked how they met, they kept to their simple and short story of meeting at the costume shop.
“Such a neat idea you two coming as Batman and Batwoman.”
“Yeah, you two look darling together,” said Jenn, dressed in the world’s tiniest cheerleader outfit. “Emily, I see you’ve got brown eyes but what color is your hair under that mask.”
“Oh, a light brunette, I guess. I put in some streaks, sometimes.”
“I’d love to see it. Slip your mask off and…”
“Nope. No can do.”
“Aww.”
Matt spoke up, mainly to change the subject. “She’s right about the color, so you’re not missing anything. Come on, Emily, let me buy you a drink.”
Once each had a glass of wine, they circulated and eventually talked with every costume-clad guest. The atmosphere was light and friendly, so much so that Matt nearly forgot he had no idea about who he was with. Fortunately, he was able to relax with the strange woman at his side.
Matt was a techie working at one of the bigger startups in the community. He had been dumped by his long-term girlfriend several months prior and had recently moved to town for a new job and to get ‘back out there,’ as Gordon had recommended. Matt figured Gordon had set up the chance meeting with Emily and was willing to pretend they knew each other though he had no idea who she was or even what she looked like.
But he found himself attracted to her. She obviously had a nice figure, something which seemed to be emphasized by the skin-tight Batwoman costume. Her breasts appeared generous but not huge, her belly was flat and her hips gave her a nice hourglass look. And she had an ass to die for. Although her head was half covered with her mask, her brown eyes drew him to her and her cute lips, accentuated with deep red lipstick, seemed to beg for a kiss.
After an hour or so, Jenn announced dinner which was served buffet style. Matt and Emily plated their food and sat together at a card table, there not being enough room at the main dining room table.
“Oh, look at the two bat-people making bat-eyes at each other over there,” shouted a Roman gladiator.
“Come on, Honey, leave them alone. Matt, ignore my pathetic husband who’s just jealous you get a new girlfriend and he’s stuck with me,” came a slutty nurse’s retort to laughter from the rest of the crowd.
Since they were close to the main table, they couldn’t talk much without their little ruse being discovered so they spoke only in generalities about politics, a recent movie and the weather. Matt was dying to learn more about her but didn’t dare ask her any personal questions. He figured he might pin down Gordon later for more background info on her.
After dessert, the guests quickly helped tidy up in the kitchen before everyone assembled in the living room. They sat in a loose circle and the friendly atmosphere led to laughing, talking, joking and teasing with Matt being the frequent butt of their humor. He noticed Emily would squeeze his hand with hers in a supportive way when a joke hit close to home.
‘Maybe she likes me,’ he wondered, ‘Sure hope I get to know her better.’
During this time, soft background music was playing but a lively dance tune came on and one of the women grabbed her husband and insisted they dance. “I can never get you to dance with me and now I’ve got you. Girls, don’t let him wiggle out of this.”
A few seconds later another couple got up to dance, so Matt turned to Emily and asked, “Dance?”
She smiled, said ‘Yes’ and joined him in one corner of the room. The tune was lively so they danced apart while loosely holding hands. They danced to a second tune in a similar fashion but the third tune was slower. He gave her a questioning look to which she nodded before nearing herself to him. The tune was sensual and though he had left a small gap between them, after a minute or so she nestled up to him. He could feel her breasts rub against his lower chest and her leg as it slipped between his.
It had been awhile since he had held a woman in his arms and the soft music and her closeness caused him to develop an erection, something he tried to hide by pulling his pelvis away from her. It was clear she wasn’t interested in him pulling away as she thrust her pelvis forward to maintain contact.
“I, uh, sorry for the, uh…” he whispered in her ear.
“Why? Let’s me know you’re turned on just like I am. Only you’re not able to tell,” she softly chuckled.
“Seriously?”
“Oh, yeah. I haven’t been so turned on while dancing in years.”
“Maybe it’s because you haven’t danced with Batman.”
“I doubt your costume is the answer. Though I don’t know you at all well, I mean we just met, somehow you’re seriously cranking my engine.”
They continued to dance until faster music came on. She dragged him by his hand to the kitchen and once they were out of sight, she turned and pulled him close. Her kiss caught him off guard, but within seconds he was joining her, savoring her sweet lips. They broke apart, she smiled up at him and reached up for another. Matt considered himself to be fairly conservative when it came to dating and though he would normally not have expected a kiss from a virtual stranger, her kisses were phenomenal. He willingly joined her for the second and even a third kiss.
