* If you've read Holiday Trifecta then you may know that I've written a lot of stories for someone I met on here. Anyway, this is also one of them. It was originally written in May of 2016.
There is stuff talked about in here that likely is out of date by now, but at the time it was topical. Non-sex stuff, I mean. Like technology. Anyway, I did cut a chunk out of this because I didn't particularly like it. Other than that, I didn't change much of anything. *
I walked into the kitchen to see Raechel (or Rae, as I call her) with her blonde hair up in a ponytail, she was wearing a tight black tank top and skimpy black boyshorts. She had an iPod tucked into the waistband, the wire to her earbuds was swaying. She was dancing back and forth, clearly unaware of my presence.
I started to say something, but stopped myself. Instead, I took out my iPhone and started to record her dancing around the kitchen. I looked around the kitchen to see if she was cooking something, but she wasn't. I saw that she had been doing the dishes.
After a minute or two of recording her, I decided that was enough. I called out to her, but she didn't hear me. I said her name a little louder and she still didn't hear me. I put my phone back in my pocket and walked up behind her.
I reached out and grabbed the wire of the earbud going to her left ear and pulled it. It popped free, Rae screamed out in surprise and spun around quickly. "Jesus Christ!" she yelled out. I started laughing. She punched me in the arm, hard. "Fucker!" I started laughing harder.
She pulled the other earbud out of her ear, and took the iPod out of her waistband, and sat it on the kitchen counter. "If you think that makes me a fucker, you should see the video I made." I said to her, with a grin on my face.
"What video?"
"Oh, just the one of you dancing around from a few minutes ago. Maybe I'll send it to your sister, I'm sure she'd love to have it."
"Give me your phone," she demanded.
"No."
"Give it to me," she repeated.
"What difference does it make? You can't get into it."
"No, but if I put the wrong password into it, it will wipe it clean."
'Shit.' I thought.
"That's not very nice."
"Neither is making a video of me without me knowing it."
"Yeah, but that was funny. Wiping my phone is just cruel."
"You're an asshole."
"Guilty as charged," I said, sarcastically. She tried to fight it, but eventually a small grin broke through the
angry look on her face.
"If you show that video to anyone, I'll kick your ass. And, you'll lose all your pussy privileges," she said, in a sweet voice, but the threat was very real. In truth, I had no intention of ever showing the video to anyone. I just thought she looked adorable.
"Yes, ma'am." I said, with mock seriousness.
"Glad we understand each other."
She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around my neck. "You did look rather sexy." I said. She smiled up at me.
"Yeah, sure." I put my arms around her, she jumped up into the air. I caught her, she wrapped her legs around my waist.
"I have to leave pretty early in the morning. So, I'll probably be gone before you wake up." I said.
"You could wake me up," Rae responded.
"You want me to wake you up at five in the morning?" I asked.
She looked at me, briefly, before responding, "Have a good trip." I smiled at her, expecting nothing less than that response.
The trip she was referring to, was a business trip to London. Years ago, I sort of fell into the app business. By app, I mean smart phone application. My particular interest lies in the game portion of the app world, things like Candy Crush and the whole other multitude now out there.
Once I found out the formula for making a good app, I quickly found myself working maybe fifteen hours a week. I would wake up in the morning, check my numbers for the apps I had on the app store, and check the latest statistics on what the many consumers were buying or downloading, and try and put out a new app that would fit that market.
The success wasn't instantaneous, but it was quicker than I would have thought. There was several things you had to learn before you could truly make a profit. One, was you had to have a good idea, or take an existing popular game, and find a way to make a newer version that was better than what was out there.
Second, you had to find good developers, unless you know how to write code, which I didn't, and still don't, because I don't need to. All you really need to have is a good idea, and a good developer, at least at first, and number three is luck.
While there are a lot of good developers in the States, there are a lot of good to great ones scattered throughout the world. My most reliable is based in London, normally we communicate by phone or Skype, but this time we were meeting up face to face.
There were several ideas we wanted to go over and decided that meeting up in person was the way to go. You may be wondering how it is that one can make money off an app, especially a free one. In a word, ads. If you've ever played a video game app, you've no doubt seen an ad.
Every time that ad get's played on your app, you get paid. So, obviously, if you have a really popular app, the more times that ad gets paid the quicker the money adds up. If you have several successful apps out there, that adds up really quickly.
The other way to make money, is by making a bare bones game that people will like, and then have, "add-on purchases" available. Even if not that many pay the $.99 for an add-on, the game still has ads, which means I still make money.
The beauty of the ads is that even if nobody visits the ad site, you still get paid, because the ad was viewed. I actually started a company that created several successful apps, that was purchased by a bigger, more established company.
I sold mine for a little over a million dollars. Of that money that I was paid, I maybe pocketed seven hundred grand of it, and quickly turned it around to help create new apps. As I got more apps made and popular in the app store, I started to pick up on what worked and what didn't and what people wanted.
I was busy crafting several new ideas that were going to be much bigger than any game I'd ever previously done. Hence, my trip to London. Now, having started another company, Blackbird Entertainment, I was ready to truly build an app empire.
The funny thing about being successful at this, is it has let me live a pretty awesome life. I've traveled throughout Europe, and Australia while still being able to do the work I need to do for an hour, maybe two in a day. I've learned the best way to keep your money is not to spend it, I know, earth shattering news.
But, what I mean is, just because I have the money to buy a ridiculously expensive house, and car, doesn't mean that I have to. In fact, only three people even know how much money I've made, and or have. My financial planner, my lawyer, and the guy that does my taxes.
If you were to look at everything I own, you wouldn't even know how much money is in my bank account. About the only thing that I spend money on, is good food, and nice, well-fitting clothes. But, I still make a conscious effort to not be, "flashy," with the clothes.
