The music is playing in the background as we talk in that booze-y little bar. The song is something I've heard before, but don't remember the name of, or any of the lyrics for that matter. A nostalgia washes over me for waiting in line or something. Pleasant but forgettable, not unlike poor Sarah here. Clearly Eileenalisa has done this to her enough times that she feels overshadowed, upstaged and outmatched.
The world is certainly not a fair place. But Sarah has really gotten screwed over here.
"Why didn't Elly come talk to me, first of all? And what is going on? It looks like you are boyfriend and girlfriend?!" Sarah is furious, for clearly many reasons. I try to calm her.
"Okay, okay. I think we need to backtrack a little bit here. I don't think you have the full picture. Also, I'm sorry if we caused you any pain. That was absolutely not our intent." I smile meekly as I say this last part. Trying hard to convey my sincerity. I don't know what Eileenalisa and I are to each other, we'll have that talk soon. But making sure I didn't just blow up one of her friendships is paramount.
I take a deep breadth. "So, Eileenalisa and I met here the first time a week ago. We spent the night together and the next morning. I wanted to start something but Eileenalisa sort of kicked me out? It was confusing. In any event, I came back to the bar tonight, hoping she'd show. I wasn't exactly talking to you under a false pretense, but my goal was to see her. I danced with you because I wanted to live in the moment. I didn't know what kind of intent you drew from that moment. But I want you to know, the last thing I meant to do was lead you on, or give you false expectations.
Clearly, you mean a lot to Eileenalisa. And the last thing I want you to think is she was party to this. She took me out back to yell at me. She did it to defend you and spare you from harm. And I confessed feelings to her more or less. And then things just sort of happened. I truly hope you are okay. That's what's most important here."
Sarah to her credit heard me out. Didn't interupt. Clearly she cares very deeply for Eileenalisa and she also definitely has a thing for me. Ofph, what a mess.
"Ugh. Okay, I guess I can understand that. You fessed up and you were honest. What am I supposed to do about that? And it's not like you are in a relationship with her. I get that your probably both confused. But you should know, Elly does this a lot. She has insanely strong chemistry with some random person and then about a week or two later they blow up. But I guess she's never done what she did with you."
