First, let me begin by apologizing, as the original upload of this story was rife with spelling errors, incorrect grammar, and a load of small bits and pieces that could've been worded much better. I've made a number of small and subtle changes that, in my mind, were sorely needed in order to increase the readability. Maybe you won't really notice a difference, but hopefully you do.
Let me also apologize for not uploading the last couple months, and I'm not going to try to make excuses. I simply neglected my erotic writing and focused on other areas of my life, but recently the inspiration has taken hold once more, and I promise it won't be long until chapter two is out. I already have some of it written from way back when, but its been a while since I've paid this story any attention so I need to get back in the groove of things before I'll be finished.
So with that in mind, I bring you this, a thoroughly edited copy of the original, that, in my mind, reads better than the first, while remaining largely unchanged. Enjoy.

Alex heard his name being called by a faint voice that sounded muffled, as if it were barely slipping past the gaps in a closed door.
"Alex..."
He looked around and discovered that he was lost in a dense, multicolored fog that surrounded him on all sides. The swirling miasma of pinks, blues, and oranges brought forth a wave of disorientation that left him dizzy and confused.
"Alex."
No longer muffled, Alex could tell that the voice held an otherworldly distortion, like it was echoing back on itself. He spun around and nearly lost his balance as he searched for the source, only to met with more fog.
The hint of a shape appeared in the distance, no more than the ghostly outline of a silhouette. The colors swirled around this unknown shape until it slowly began to take the form of a human. Or at least something resembling a human.
He called out to the figure, "Hello? Who's there?"
The shadow followed Alex's voice to the source and approached, gradually solidifying itself into a blanket of robes that were draped around a distinctly feminine shape. It raised an arm in his direction just as a dark beam of energy shot out from the cloaked appendage, traveling the distance to his chest in the blink of an eye.
His entire body jolted with a powerful surge of otherworldly energy, frightening in it's intensity.
"ALEX!"
Alex's head shot up from the antique wooden desk, a bright red circle immediately apparent on his cheek where it had been pressed into the surface.
This brought him face to face with a very displeased Mrs. Suomi, her dark brown eyes piercing him with a cold glare.
Fuck.
He looked around, not surprised in the least to see that everyone in his Algebra II class was staring him down, no doubt waiting for her to tear him a new one for sleeping in class.
Alex put on his usual calm demeanor almost like one would don a shirt, "Yes, Mrs. Suomi?"
Her voice was laced with displeasure, "That's the third time I've caught you sleeping during class this week. Come see me after school."
He sighed, "Yes Ma'am."
Despite having just been sentenced to two hours of suffering in Hell, Alex wasn't worried. Instead, his mind kept drifting back to the strange dream as he fought to pay attention for the remainder of the class. It was nearly impossible to focus though, considering today's subject was a lecture on imaginary numbers, whatever that meant.
Thinking back, he could vividly recall the swirling colors, the feel of the damp fog seeping into his skin just before a strange figure shot him with what he could only describe as a laser of some sort. The rush of energy was still fresh in his mind, and as he thought on it, he could still feel remnants of the sensation.
He rationalized it as leftover adrenaline from being scared awake, but he couldn't help but feel that there was another aspect to it, one that he couldn't quite put his finger on.
Before he knew it, the bell was ringing, signaling that it was time for his favorite, and last class of the day, Literary Arts.
The students filed out into the hallway, Alex's infraction quickly forgotten as they once again merged into a mass of shallow desires and insecurities, blind to the world around them. He walked out somewhere in the middle of the formation, stealing a parting glance at his teacher, surprised to find that she was watching him with a curious look in her eye.
Alex followed the crowd down the hallway towards his locker, quickly putting in his combination before twisting the handle and retrieving his Intro to Advanced Literary Arts textbook, more commonly known as the ALA. The yellow book was a familiar weight in his hand, the frayed edges showing its wear throughout the years.
He slammed his locker shut, putting in enough force to overcome the resistance of the rusty latch. Alex felt someone creep up behind him, his sixth sense telling him who it was before he even turned around, her familiar presence instantly recognized among the mass of bodies that filled the halls.
"Hello Brianna." He tried to put as much mirth in his voice as he could, but his heart simply wasn't up to it after the events in math class.
Brianna Lockwood, the bane of his existence, smiled despite his dejected tone.
"What's wrong Alex?"
He sighed, turning around to face his best friend. Brianna was a girl that typically slipped under the radar of most people. She was known mainly due to her status as Alex's only friend, but other than that, there wasn't much more that the average student could say about her.
She was pretty. She had a small button nose with full lips, always sporting a slight sheen of gloss. Her height was average, as was her light brown hair. Her figure was attractive, but not jaw dropping. Her legs were long and athletic, but carried a healthy amount of weight to give them a nice rounded appearance without looking fat.
Alex wasn't blind to this, but he didn't consciously acknowledge it either. To him, she was just Brianna, his slightly crazy, smart and funny best friend.
"I'm fine Bree, just a little distracted is all. Suomi gave me after school detention so you'll have to ride the bus."
She frowned at this, "Let me guess, you fell asleep again?"
Alex tried to look bashful, "Maybe...?"
She slapped his arm just hard enough to sting, "You need to stay awake dummy. It doesn't matter how good your grades are if you get flunked for sleeping more in Math than you do in your own bed."
On instinct, they fell into step as they headed towards their final, and shared, class.
He huffed, "I don't see why I need to waste my valuable time on IMAGINARY numbers. I mean come on, it's in the name, they're useless."
