When their kids introduced them at the rehearsal dinner, Frank and Janice had to pretend to be strangers.
They weren't strangers though. They'd met about a year ago, using a dating site, the type of site that encouraged their members to have affairs. Janice was married and bored. Frank was a single divorcee, but he liked married women. They hit it off immediately.
Besides the mutual attraction, Frank quickly discovered a couple things about Janice. She didn't wear underwear when she planned to get laid. And she liked risky sex in public. Not exhibitionism, but the thrill of possibility. A chance of getting caught. On their first date, she'd gone to her knees in an empty hotel hallway in the middle of the night, and sucked his cock. They'd fucked on the roof of her apartment building. He'd fingered her in a subway station, in an out-of-the-way hallway.
But then they met in 'real life', in the most inconvenient way. They'd never discussed family during their dates, so when Janice's daughter was about to marry Frank's son, it was quite a surprise to be introduced to one another.
Frank was partially estranged from his son Chris, and had been invited to the wedding as a show of reconciliation. He'd arrived late and missed the actual rehearsal. His ex-wife had already met their future in-laws, but Frank's first encounter with his daughter-in-law's parents was at the rehearsal dinner.
"Dad, come here, meet Sonya's mom and dad," Chris called, and as Frank made his way through the crowd, the pair came into view. Frank saw her, Janice, the woman he'd been fucking for the last year, standing next to her husband. She saw him. He hesitated only a moment, and managed to pass it off as being bumped by someone and nearly dropping his plate of hor d'oeuvres. Janice didn't move, but her eyes grew wide a moment, and her breath caught short. But she caught hold of herself and continued smiling.
"Brian, Janice, this is my dad, Frank," Chris spoke, and the fathers shook hands. Frank made of show of juggling his plate again, and awkwardly shook hands with Janice. Their eyes met for only a moment. Small talk was made, and Frank made of point of mostly looking at his son and daughter-in-law for most of the conversation.
But then they were facing each other during the meal. Their locked eyes a few times, but they said nothing. And then dinner was over.
They didn't see each other again until the day of the wedding. As everyone was getting ready, Frank wandered the halls of the chapel, and Janice found him. She spoke first. "I think we need to talk. Privately." They ducked in to a large bathroom with a floor-length mirror, meant to double as a dressing room. Janice sat on the toilet lid and tried to think of what to say.
"Look Frank, I never thought we'd actually meet, outside of, you know..."
"Neither did I."
