After leaving the airport and getting on the freeway, I continued to think about my last conversation with Lainie before leaving home. Her last words were, "you don't even know what is in store for you!" and those words kept reeling in my mind. I loosened my tie as I pulled over to pass a slow driver. My mind woandered to the pictures I carried of her in my briefcase. I did not need to see them, as they were firmly imprinted in my mind. Unconsciously shaking my head, thinking about the sly grin on her face, I began to smile.
I reached over to turn on the radio and pushed three buttons before I got a non-rap station. I turned up the sound as the Moody Blues came from the speakers. "Glad they have some regular people up here" I chuckled out loud. Reaching in the back seat and pulling out the notebook from my briefcase, I found the address of the little coffee shop where she had told me to meet her. Even though I had plenty of time, I decided to drive there first and check into the hotel later. I smiled as I pulled into the fast lane to pass more cars, thinking, "No, I am not anxious, not at all, heh heh."
I soon reached the exit and turned left at the light, my anticipation growing. Driving two blocks further, I saw the sign. There was parking around back just like she said. My heart began to beat faster as I walked through the door and waited for my eyes to adjust to the light. Then I saw her. She were looking directly at me and not quite smiling; but her eyes almost danced and told me everything I needed to know. She stood up as I walked across the room and I took her into my arms and kissed her. A quick kiss, a friendly kiss, a kiss that said, "wow, I'm glad you're here!" But our hug lingered, and as I pulled my head back I saw her smile, as big and pretty as her sparkling eyes.
I ordered a glass of cabernet and coffee; the same as she was drinking. I watched her animated expressions as she talked. It was a natural discourse, and we obviously felt comfortable from all the time we had spent chatting together. We talked about everything and nothing. All of a sudden, I realized I had no idea what she was telling me. I was so lost in watching her expression and watching her hands as they punctuated whatever she were saying, that I forgot to pay attention. To recover, I reached over, grabbed her hand, and brought it to my lips. Continuing to hold it, our elbows resting on the table, I told her how glad I was to be here. She stopped in mid-sentence and began to blush slightly. She didn't say a word, but her smile and eyes sparkled as she looked at me and I kissed her hand again.
Recovering quickly, Lainie told me to get the check. "I have a surprise I want you to see" she whispered.
Throwing some bills on the receipt plate, I turned to follow her out and into the bright sunshine. I was glad she were leading the way because it gave me chance to watch her little butt, and from a very pretty angle. She had on a tailored sundress that not quite hugged her trim body. It only enhanced her pretty curves and was plenty short enough to show her wonderful legs. She didn't say a word as she turned and found me staring at her ass.
