This is the second chapter in an in-progress story about a long term erotic affair. Comments and suggestions are most welcome!
Emily and Greg sat side by side in a corner booth at Logan's. It was Friday-night crowded, but not packed. For a second date, it was a good call. Just busy enough to cover up any awkward silences, but calm enough that they could talk.
Emily decided to wear a knee-length skirt and a dark blouse. Given what had happened at their first in-person meet up, she toyed with the idea of going commando, but once again sanity and responsibility took over. This didn't stop her from wearing her sexiest black lace bikini briefs, but exposing herself further, in public, and on a second date, was a bridge too far.
Greg suggested a sampler flight and she agreed. She tried to remember the last time she'd had a beer - probably three or four years ago. Todd hadn't liked beer, and his budding career in academia had pushed him in a highly pretentious direction, so when they went out it was usually to some overpriced bistro with small portions and waitstaff with an attitude. She didn't really care for wine, but it was one of the concessions she made to Todd. One of many concessions. This, however, was nice. Greg made almost a perfect suggestion and she had to admit, she was having a great time.
The booth was small, so their legs touched. When the food came, she leaned into him, feeling the warm solidness of his body. Feeling a bit daring, she put her hand on his thigh, just above his knee -- nothing too crazy at this point, she thought -- and felt him tense for a half second and then relax.
"Food good?" he asked.
"Yeah. This is nice. You made a great suggestion.
"Good."
She ran her hand slightly up his inner thing, keeping a respectful distance from anything that would go too far. Sitting this close, she could smell him. It was a heady mix of cedar and vanilla. It went right to a pleasure center in her mind. She could sit here all night and just ride this wave.

As dinner wrapped up, they continued their light banter. She was turned on, but also convinced that nothing more than kissing should happen on this date. At the same time, she was curious and, a few drinks in, feeling brave. She leaned in, putting her hand on his thigh again.
"At the coffee shop," she said quietly, "or at least after I left the coffee shop... were you serious about that offer?"
He smiled sheepishly, "I was. But in my defense, I honestly don't know where it came from. I also don't know what I would've done if you'd actually come back."
Emily laughed, "well, then it's probably good I had to go. You know, I thought about it... but, yeah, too much, too soon."
"And too public," he finished.
She looked deeply into his blue eyes. He had a shy look on his face and a slight smile. Clearly, he was waiting to see her reaction. She felt her heart race and took a deep breath. She suddenly felt very reckless, like she had when she was much younger and tempted with something bad.
"Maybe not."
