Kat had her spot. She worked from home, and just going to her patio to have a smoke didn't provide enough disconnect from the 'office', so periodically she'd drive down the road on her lunch break or, more regularly, after work. It was a small-ish parking lot of a vacant strip mall that bordered a park with walking paths and overlooked a small pond. A rather busy brewpub occupied the far end of the lot, but Kat's spot was near the park and fairly secluded.Β Sometimes the brewery would have live music that was worth listening to, but more often than not she let her playlist run, quietly in the background of her reverie.
One Thursday evening she was almost in a zen state. The air was finally cooler, the sun finally waned to feeling less intense, and a favorite song lulled her into memories of distant shows she had seen during more care-free days. She closed her eyes and smiled, remembering it all, when suddenly a loud thump hit her car door, followed by a brief scratching on pavement and close panting. She screamed, startled, and saw a german shepherd at her window, looking insanely happy with a tennis ball in his mouth. She sat up and looked around.
"I'm so sorry! His ball bounced off of a tree. Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you, " his voice coming from below the short embankment into the park.
She laughed lightly, "it's ok, but it did scare me half to death!"
"So sorry. Come on Duke."
But Duke stayed and looked to her hopefully and hopped up to her open window, dropping his slobbery ball to her lap and gave her a goofy dog smile. She laughed and tossed the ball and sent the dog scurrying off after it.Β She watched as the man waved and apologized again, then followed Duke down into the park. Her eyes followed him awhile, noting his physique and let her thoughts wander elsewhere, and of other things.
Days later, Kat made her way to her spot again. It was another early evening of perfect weather when she saw him and Duke again. Kat noted his tye-dyed t-shirt with the Grateful Dead logo and laughed to herself, as she was just then listening to Ripple. She, at first, thought to enjoy the coincidence by herself but mused a bit on it and turned the volume up.Β As he neared the closest point of the path to her car, he stopped, hearing the music. He looked around, noticing her car then smiled and continued on his way slowly, with a little groove to each step then waved before disappearing behind the brush along the path. She again let her thoughts wander. He seemed like a cool person, was fairly tall and had a physique that hinted at him working with his hands. She liked his reddish hair and beard, and began imagining his firm, calloused hands touching her bare shoulders, caressing and wandering over her chest, groping her breasts. She bit at her lower lip in a devious smile and let her finger lightly draw over her blouse.
Kat was not normally overly adventurous anymore, not like when she was younger, and certainly not while the sun was out, but her musings stirred something in her. Her hand moved to her thigh, caressing her bare skin then moved beneath her skirt to her panties and began lightly pressing and moving over her warm pussy beneath. She was becoming wet and her pulse began quickening. She imagined his fingers sliding inside her and stroking her into a wet mess of pleasure. She imagined him standing at her window and taking him into her mouth, or having followed him along the path and into the woods, ravaging her against a tree.
A far-off horn blew and she snapped out of her daydream, looking around to make sure no one saw her, though part of her hoped he was there. She felt her Need wash over her and knew she had to hurry home to finish her fantasy. It was nearing sunset and started the engine, waiting a moment to see if she could catch another glimpse of her fantasy stranger. As she was about to turn out of the lot, she looked back one last time and saw a figure heading from the direction he'd gone. She paused, contemplating whether or not to turn around and go back. Her heart was pounding in her chest from such an exciting notion, but she laughed to herself, then sighed and rushed home.
II.
It had been a frustrating day of work. The client list was doubled and IT was slow to respond to systems issues. Kat was just over it. Fridays weren't supposed to be so aggravating.
**Hey, Joan. I need a drink or three tonight.Β Care to join me?**
**Absolutely! If I didn't know better I'd think it was full moon or something. People are just dumb today!Β Let's do it! I've been meaning to ask you about the place near you. Have you been there yet?**
**I haven't but I hear it's good food, good beer and really good mixed drinks. I'm off at 5 so...6?**
**I'll already be there, hahaha!**
