This is my first time writing anything like this so I appreciate any feedback! This story is inspired by "The Long Weekend" by Fantasypron, but I wanted it to be much more of a slow burn type of story and have my own twists. Thanks for reading I hope you enjoy!

Mom pulled up to the suburban mansion and put the vehicle into park. "I know you're an adult and everything but please be responsible and don't go overboard Alexander," she chided me, being sure to use my full name for emphasis.
"I know mom, I'll be fine." I huffed, hopping out of the SUV and wandering up the drive as she pulled away. The towering house loomed over me as I made my way up to ring the doorbell.
I was greeted with a smile by my longtime best friend, Nate, as the door swiftly opened and he beckoned me in, excitedly hefting my overnight bag inside as I took in the opulence of the home that I had just entered.
Nate was my oldest friend, we had grown up on the same street and been friends since as long as I could remember. Now grown into college aged men, we were markedly different, and followed different paths, yet remained close as ever throughout it all. Nate stood a looming 6'4 and towered above me with his lean, athletic build. He was going to college out of state on a full ride football scholarship and he had a shaggy brown mane and gleaming smile that would deftly swoon any of his womanly peers. I, on the other hand was a more average college student, and possessed a wiry frame with sandy blonde hair that would look more at home surfing at the beach, and prominent blue eyes. In contrast to Nate, I was more scrawny, somewhere like 5'9 and 150 odd pounds sopping wet.
We were ecstatic at the opportunity we had been presented with; since Nate had been at college out of state and I was attending a local school, we hadn't gotten the chance to hang out much in recent months, and our recent hangouts had been limited to the virtual world of video games and such, on the dwindling chances when time permitted between studies and various commitments, which lacked the realness of getting to hangout in person. Now, however, summer break had rolled around and Nate was offered to house-sit his affluent uncle's mansion for much of the summer when he was away on holidays. This fortuitous opportunity was presented with free-reign from Nate's uncle who bore a lax rule on things, and as such, Nate had invited me to stay with him at the mansion and help with the house-sitting process.
"Uncle Tanner said we can do anything we want, have a few parties, drink his booze, whatever, so long as the place is clean, and still standing when he gets back." Nate relayed with a chuckle.
"This is going to be sick!" I remarked excitedly, and Nate brought me in to select a bedroom. The wealthy uncle had a large house, yet as a bachelor there were several spare rooms to choose from. I set my stuff down in a leftover room adjacent to one where Nate seemed to have made himself at home and he set about giving me a tour.
"Down this hall there are several spare bedrooms, I think one is converted to a sort of library and another an office, and at the end of the hall is the master bedroom," Nate explained as we peered into each of the well-furnished rooms. "I picked one of the spare rooms, would have felt weird staying in the master suite as that is my uncle's domain and there are plenty of rooms to spare." Nate remarked and I agreed with him. The tour continued where I saw much more of the fancy house including a beautiful kitchen and living space that reflected that of a tasteful, affluent bachelor, and would have made any interior decorator proud. But the basement was what really excited us, there was a theatre room with every gaming console and movie you could dream of, as well as a living space with a wet bar, pool tables, games and everything you could fancy having in a rich house, along with a beautiful reading nook with a stunning winged back leather chair.
"He calls that his whisky drinking chair." Nate relayed amusedly.
The tour continued with more panache as the backyard was revealed; extraordinary landscaping topped off with what we really cared about, a gargantuan hot tub and stunning swimming pool area equipped with an equally illustrious patio and barbecue setup.
With the tour complete we headed back inside, and I was awash with excitement at the possibilities that awaited us. Nate was planning to stay here almost the entire summer, and I was going to stay for two weeks planned but the invitation was already open to remain longer if things were working out. Congregating in the kitchen area Nate headed for the refrigerator and reached inside.
"Beer?" He asked, handing me one at the affirmative.
"We're getting started early?" I inquired with a chuckle.
"No time like the present."
"We've got plenty of time though, and it's only a Monday," I bantered as I cracked my beer, "It's hardly past noon."
"I don't see you complaining there, plus I figure we're on island time." Nate smirked.
"This is no island." I laughed as Nate smacked the kitchen island and pointed at it.
"Island right here."
We sipped our drinks and laughed heading out to hang by the pool deck.
"We're gonna go a little overboard our first day and then pay for it tomorrow and then repeat that cycle and it's going to be good fun," Nate said, leaning back in his lounger by the pool, "That's my plan anyway, do try and keep up. I think it'll be great, and maybe we can throw a party next weekend. The world is our oyster for the next few weeks, maybe beyond so we best get to enjoying it. Not often we get an actual break like this."
We sipped beers, played games, and hung around in a casual manner sharing many drinks, and it felt good to slip back into the friendship I had been missing while Nate was gone. Eventually, my smaller stature bit back at me and I couldn't keep up with Nate's drinking pace, so I decided to call it a night. Promptly crashing into the bed I had claimed earlier and finding sleep almost immediately.
The next morning, we congregated in the kitchen area to consume a quick breakfast and lament our hangovers. We killed the day in the sun snapping around a football and then cooling off in the pool. Evening rolled around before I knew it, and a few more beers were consumed with an adeptly barbecued dinner, afterwards we kept up our imbibement and headed to the theatre room where we took to gaming, reliving some split screen nostalgia on his uncle's xbox 360.
After a few more wobbly pops and a natural break in the game Nate stood and declared, "I know my uncle has a stash of weed in here somewhere and that he'd be cool with us having some, I'm going to go find it."
"Ok." I replied simply.
I wasn't one to often indulge in the green stuff, but once in a while wouldn't hurt, plus I figured I was in a pretty safe environment to do it if I didn't have the greatest reaction.
