"Hey Sam!" Amanda greeted Sam at the front door. The ladies smiled at each other. "Please come in. John's in back grilling some steaks for us."
"Thanks for the invite." Sam replied as she stepped in the house carrying two bottles of wine. "No fun eating alone at home anymore."
"Yeah. I get that. It's nice coming home to someone after work. How long have you and Julie been together?" Amanda asked as the two ladies walked back into the kitchen.
"We met about three years ago. She moved in with me two years ago this month. Not sure how much longer it's going to last. We're just from two different worlds. She's morning, I'm night. She takes passive to a whole new level. I wouldn't be surprised if she comes back and tells me she's moving back to California." A sadness washed over Sam. "I don't know. Enough of this. Where's your cork puller? Let's get this first bottle started." Both laughed at her eagerness to get the wine flowing. No better way to breakdown any inhibitions.
Amanda pulled open one of the drawers and handed Sam a cork pull. "I have to ask." Amanda said smiling. "Did you really think about going after John before Julie came along?"
Sam gave her an apprehensive look. "Are you afraid of me going after him now?"
Amanda realized what her question sounded like. "Oh no, no! Not at all! I'm sorry if it sounded like that. I just know you've mentioned it, and I was just wondering what kept you from pursuing it."
Sam became a little more relaxed talking about it. She had to admit to herself that she was the one who confessed to having an eye for John years ago. "I don't know. It just wasn't the right time. Now I look at how we both have changed over the last few years. We're just different people now. I think doing what we do for work really changes the person. Plus, I rethought the wisdom of getting involved with someone I work with. Probably not a great idea."
The ladies continued to talk as Sam poured the wine and Amanda returned to making the salad and other fixings for the meal.
"So if I could ask." Sam said. "Are you ok with John wanting to pursue this guy up north?"
Amanda didn't hesitate. "Not really. It's in the past. I would rather leave it there. But John wants to make Buckman pay for what he did to me somehow."
"Being a cop, I get that. I see these mother fuckers get away with it all the time. If John thinks he can get some justice for you, let him do it." Sam replied taking her first sip of wine.
"But what if he's thinking about doing something that's illegal?" The fear of being rejected by John had now been replaced by the fear of losing him to whatever he was thinking about doing to Buckman.
"John's going to do what John's going to do." Sam wasn't telling Amanda something she didn't already know. "I guess that's one of the things that attracted me to him years ago. He sets his mind to righting a wrong, he doesn't quit. He's like a bulldog. You just need to trust that he knows what he's doing."
Amanda walked over and took the glass of wine Sam had poured for her. "I do trust him completely." She took a long drink. "Thank you." Amanda said as she laid her hand on Sam's. "I guess I needed to hear that from someone else."
Sam turned her hand over and grabbed Amanda's. The two stared at each other for a few seconds. "So, tell me about this woman you shared some time with years ago." Sam asked trying to keep the conversation going.
Amanda squeezed Sam's hand. "She was just a woman I worked with at the school I taught at before this one. We became friends. Her husband was an abusive asshole. Not physically. Just verbally and mentally. We went out for drinks a couple times. The more she unloaded to me, the more I felt an empathy for her. One thing led to another and we became lovers for a short period. I think the tenderness we both shared with the other was what we both needed at that time."
"What ended it?" Sam asked running her hand up and down Amanda's arm.
"Her husband got a transfer with his job and she ended up staying with him and moving away. I couldn't understand why she stayed with him."
"I'll never understand why some women stay with those abusive pigs." Sam replied. She set her glass of wine on the counter, then stood up from her bar chair. She wrapped her hand around Amanda's neck, pulling their two mouths together. She kissed her tenderly as her other hand roamed up and down Amanda's side caressing her body, lingering at her breast.
Amanda set her glass of wine on the counter carefully, not being able to see it, as she gave herself over to the sensations of Sam's kiss. She ran her hands along the sides of Sam's body, lingering at her breasts. Their tongues began to fight for dominance as their kiss became more passionate.
Sam's hand stopped roaming as she focused her arousal on Amanda's breast. She squeezed and kneaded it moaning her approval into Amanda's mouth. She broke the kiss, pulling Amanda into her body. She began kissing and sucking on Amanda's ear, causing her to gasp from the new sensations. "Julie's breasts aren't this big." Sam whispered in her ear. "It will be fun playing with these this evening."
John stood and watched for a couple minutes, having walked in from the patio unnoticed by the two women who were caught up in the sensations each was giving the other. "So you two decided to start the party without me." He said smiling.
Both ladies looked to their side startled. Sam smiled back at John. "She's delicious John. I can see what you see in her now."
John walked over to the island and laid the steaks down on it, standing next to them. He wrapped a hand around each of their necks and held them tight. "She's also mine." He replied to Sam, looking at her. "If you want to play with her, you'll have to ask my permission." John knew what Sam was like. He wanted to set the tone for the evening.
Sam stared at him smiling. A battle of wills. Sam was a natural alpha at home with Julie. But now that she was in John's house, she felt herself wanting to acquiesce to that dominance and give it over to John. 'I am such a sucker for a strong-willed guy.' She thought to herself.
