Erica wanted to get out of the house. She had been hunkered down with her boyfriend Josh in their shared apartment for nearly a year and a half during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the pandemic began to subside she found herself longing for some time out in nature.
"Hey babe, let's go hiking today," she said as Josh was rolling out of bed.
"Hmm, maybe," Josh replied. "I could probably use some fresh air."
Erica pulled on her yoga pants and sports bra. Josh marveled at her figure. At 5'2" and 130 pounds, Erica had a body sculpted by obsessive fitness at their local CrossFit gym. She was there at least four days a week doing the most brutal workouts and crushing most of the men.
Erica was a beautiful woman, naturally voluptuous. Her body was tight with muscle, and she knew she had a killer body. Thin, tan legs led up to a taut tummy that was almost cartoon-like but had all the right curves. She had a small, firm ass and an impressive protruding chest as well.
"I'm going to swing by the store and get some things for the trail. You want anything Josh?" she said.
"Yeah, get some sunflower seeds and some trail mix. See you when you get back. Oh, and grab a couple of bottles of Gatorade too."
"Sure thing babe."
Josh realized that he was impressed by a lot more than Erica's body. She was whip-smart, funny, sarcastic, and ambitious. She dreamed of starting her own CrossFit gym and seemed to have the drive and skills to achieve just about anything. The pair had met at his cousin's wedding one year ago, and they had been inseparable ever since.
Erica played up her physicality and sex appeal. She was not shy about her body, wearing low-cut tops at the gym to show off her lean abs and firm tits. But she was a woman who knew what she wanted in life, carried herself with confidence, and never settled.
Josh on the other hand had a more lanky build. He kept his dark hair stylishly cut but usually had a five o'clock shadow and his clothes were clean but a bit ratty sometimes. He kind of liked the look, but it made him feel like a college frat boy, and he knew that was not the image he wanted when people viewed him. He wanted to be seen as a successful, well-read, and worldly man.
Their sexual relationship was great in the past, but the pandemic had brought them into a dry-spell. Josh wished they could fuck every night, just like they used to.
Josh continued to lay on his back and watch attentively as Erica walked to the front door. She turned around, and his eyes lingered on her body. She had a defined booty and an ass that would make Instagram models jealous.
"What are you staring at?" she said.
"Just you. You have an amazing ass."
"Ah, you're sweet. I'll be back," she said.
Erica grabbed her purse, kissed Josh on the cheek, and went out the door.
Saturday was a beautiful day in San Diego. Across the city, hundreds if not thousands of people were going to the beach to swim, run, play volleyball and spend the day outside. The government had been able to get their arms around the pandemic was soon going to become a distant memory.
Erica quickly pulled into the supermarket parking lot. She looked around at the other cars in the parking lot and smiled. The streets and lots downtown were filling up to the pre-pandemic levels, meaning that some things were returning to normal.
She shopped for the hiking snacks quickly and returned home to Josh.
Erica arrived with the supplies and the two went out into the warm sunshine. They darted through the warm rays and down the trail on the hill. Erica bounded ahead, her slender, muscular legs covering the ground with ease. Josh tried to chase her and was shocked at how effortlessly she moved through the forest. It took him a second to catch his breath, and by the time he had caught up to her she was lying by a secluded tree cooling off.
"What's the matter? You can't keep up with a girl?" Erica taunted.
"Sure I can. But you never know when I'll need to catch my breath."
"Go ahead and catch your breath. I'll just stay here and watch the clouds roll by. It's so peaceful and quiet out here."
Josh lay next to her and looked up at the perfect blue sky. A few white wispy clouds drifted by. No planes, no helicopters, no noise. He relished moments such as these where it felt like they were the only two people in the world. Earth, population two.
