Chapter 1
The sun peered from behind the hills when Tawny startled herself out of her sleep. Flustered, she felt around for her cell phone.
"Shit, it's already six," she murmured in a raspy voice.
She wrestled her arms and legs out of the sheets. The icy air of the morning hit her body and formed goosebumps on her skin. She battled with the weight of exhaustion as she searched for her clothes that were left scattered on the floor. As she shimmied her dress up past her hips, a man appeared, leaning against the bedroom door to watch her in amusement.
"How are you, baby?" he asked, smiling.
She paused to look at him, taken aback by his smooth, deep voice. For a second, she forgot the night they had together. The same voice cradled her in the most intense orgasms she had ever experienced. His strength and passion to please her made her pussy ache for more.
He stood at 6'3" statuesque with tan brown skin. The sharp lines of his jawbone clenched as he bit his bottom lip. His warm brown eyes gazed at her, and she could feel herself sinking into his pools of warmth and ecstasy. He was almost too beautiful to stare at, but at the same time, hard to look away. He was a pretty boy for sure, and Tawny knew she was in over her head with a 25-year-old. She was almost a decade older, but she was more overwhelmed by the third leg he carried between his legs. She scanned his body as he stood there in all his naked glory.
"Yeah, I'm good." She responded, snapping back to reality. "Listen, I gotta go. I have a meeting at 8 and I gotta get back home to prepare. I'll call you later, okay?"
Before he could respond, she grabbed her keys and let herself out the door. She was glad to not have made any more eye contact to rip herself away from the dream she had to leave behind.
Tawny had already hit the freeway toward her job when her phone started to ring back to back.
"Girl, I'm on my way. I will make it on time. I had to make a pit stop at my house..." Tawny froze and knew she had fucked up at that instant.
"Pit stop? What do you mean? Weren't you at home last night? "Naomi responded.
Naomi was Tawny's manager's executive assistant and worked in the same department as her. She was a no-nonsense type of girl when it came to Tawny because she was also her best friend. Naomi knew Tawny was up to no good.
"Please don't tell me you were with that boy again. I thought you were gonna pull the plug on that." Naomi paused for a moment, but didn't want to wait for Tawny's explanation. "You know he's gonna mess up your whole situation. What if Malcolm catches you?" Naomi hesitated to say more. She knew Tawny was already contemplating what had happened.
"I dropped my car off at the valet. I'll see you in a few."
Tawny knew not to even let the drama mess up her opportunity for a promotion. She dedicated her career to Vivant Marketing for the past 3 years and she was ready to take on more responsibilities and make more money. She loved what she did. As a marketing major and business minor at Howard University, she made it her lifelong dream to work in fashion marketing.
Tawny commanded every room she walked in, and although she wasn't the prettiest; she was the most alluring. She stood 5'10 in heels and her hair was slicked in a neat top bun that complimented her powder blue suit from Zara. Her deep brown skin contrasted with her bright gap-tooth smile. She was slim and thick, which she thanked her fitness trainer for. Terrified of any form of surgery, she stuck to waist trainers that gave her the snatched look she wanted.
Tawny walked to the office zoned out to the click-clack of her heels echoing down the hall. Her body hit a sudden jolt as she bumped into a woman who didn't seem to be paying attention, either. The collision was so impactful that the woman's glasses fell on the floor with the lenses popped out of the frame.
"Damn!", the woman hissed. "I'm so sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going. You'd think I'd be able to see better since I've gotten glasses." She let out an obnoxious laugh that startled Tawny. She tried to keep her face from showing her judgment.
"Don't apologize, I should've been paying attention, my damn self." She responded, embarrassingly. They exchanged smiles.
"Well, don't worry about my glasses. I can pop the lens back in. They're cheap." The lady grabbed the end of her shirt to wipe the lenses.
Tawny nodded as her focus moved back to the meeting she had to attend in a few minutes.
"Well, it was nice bumping into you. You have a great day," Tawny smiled as she hurried down to the meeting room.
Later on that day, Tawny and Naomi met up for lunch at a restaurant down the street from their work building.
"So what is it about this guy that got you going back every time?" Naomi stopped forking at her salad to look at Tawny. She focused on typing up a spreadsheet for the new project that her boss gave her the green light for during the meeting.
