The grand doors of the opera house swung open, unleashing a flood of elegantly attired patrons onto the bustling street. A mass of elegant cocktail dresses paired with black tie suits slowly disperses, along with the crowd murmur.
- I was so impressed by the scenography. It felt so intimate. - Observed Elis.
She turns to Peter and with a kiss on his lips adds.
- Thank you for this day. I'm loving it. I couldn't imagine a better way to celebrate our anniversary.
- That makes me happy. I feel like having a drink. Shall we find a place for a nice cocktail on the way back? - replied Peter.
- That sounds lovely. - Replied Elis with a smile.
Not far from the opera house they found a speakeasy bar that was advertising a cabaret tango live performance. Elis was curious about it and thought that could spice up the night a little.
As they slowly walk in to ask for a table, the place exuded the opulent charm of a bygone era, with plush velvet drapes and ornate chandeliers casting a warm glow over the intimate space. The place reconstructs the style of a 1920's Art Deco cabaret. The tables were arranged in a semicircle way to give space for the central area to act as a stage for the dance performance. The low lights added to its secretive atmosphere and some sense of privacy.
Elis raises her eyes and signals a waiter that starts to move in their direction. She turns to Peter saying.
- I'll order us some drinks.
When the waiter arrives, Elis orders their usual cocktails.
- A Negroni for the gentleman and a French 75 for myself, please.
- Verywell madam. - replied the waiter with a subtle bow before turning around in the direction of the bar.
Both of them observe the place and exchange thoughts on why they never noticed it before. Realizing that it has been a long time since they were going out in a more spontaneous way, they promise to each other to try to do it again soon.
