Out at a restaurant that's a popular date spot, Craig, 19, and his girlfriend, Tiffany, 20, meet with Craig's sister and Tiffany's best friend, Frankie, 20, and her girlfriend, Pleasant, 23, for a meal together. Not only is it nice for them to get out of the house, but it marks the first time that Tiffany has been out of the house for a couple of weeks, following a traumatic incident with Craig's former soccer teammates.
The two couples greet each other and get seated at a table Pleasant reserved for them, and a waiter takes their order. After the waiter leaves the table, Frankie wastes no time in asking Tiffany, "How are you feeling?"
Tiffany takes a moment, looking nervous and reserved before quietly answering, "I'm fine."
Frankie looks at her friend sympathetically upset, but forces a smile as she tells Tiffany, "Everything is going to be good tonight. Don't worry about a thing."
Tiffany hypothesises, "What if something happens tonight?"
Frankie reassures her friend by saying, "Nothing is going to happen; not with the three of us here with you. You're safe."
Craig informs his sister and her girlfriend, "Tiffany has been very distant. Closed from us at home. Mom, Dad, and me have been looking after her, even having her parents over, but that didn't help much. We have arranged for a one-on-one session with a counsellor, hoping to see her return to a more positive state of mind.
"I think Tiffany is mourning the loss of our child. Can't say I blame her because I've been feeling an emptiness like something is now missing from my life, so I can't begin to imagine what you're going through, Tiffany, having our child growing inside of you one moment but not the next. It's," Craig pauses and chokes back some tears welling. Craig continues to say, "We've not had sex since it happened. I feel like it's wrong since Tiffany has been so absent, and I don't want to force myself on her."
Frankie asks her brother, "Have you turned to Mom for... You know?"
Craig explains to his sister, "We haven't. Even if we were doing that, I would feel like I'm cheating on Tiffany, and she's going through enough right now. I just want to be there for her and show my support."
The waiter comes to the table carrying a tray with the drinks the couples ordered: a lager each for Craig, Tiffany, and Frankie, and a glass of red wine for Pleasant, and the waiter sets the glasses down on the table before leaving.
Pleasant asks of the other couple, "Please, try to take your minds off things just for tonight. You are among friends, and in a busy restaurant. I can assure you no harm is going to come to either of you from anyone."
Tiffany takes a deep breath and nods affirmingly to what Pleasant just said, and lifts her glass of lager to her lips, pausing for a moment, then taking a small sip, barely taking any of it into her mouth. She lets the taste swill around her tongue before swallowing hard.
With haste, Tiffany sets her glass down on the table and breathes more quickly and heavily, and tears well in her eyes as she begins to sob. Craig cradles his girlfriend in his arms, feeling her shaking as she begins crying, saying, "Sorry. I'm sorry."
Frankie rushes to kneel at her friend's side, and rubs her back firmly as she says, "You have nothing to be sorry for."
Tiffany, curled up against her boyfriend, glances a look around the restaurant at all the people having their meals, and turns to bury her head in Craig's chest, hearing the muddied chatter around the room get louder and louder to her. She shakily says, "I want to go home."
Pleasant goes to find their waiter, and Frankie, still rubbing her friend's back asks, "What if you came back with me and Pleasant? It's still a change of scenery for you, and completely safe."
Tiffany nods to confirm her interest in her friend's suggestion, and Pleasant comes back to the table with the waiter, who sees the young woman's distress, and announces to everyone, "Don't worry about a thing tonight. If you need to leave, then I will let the kitchen know, and you don't need to worry about payment."
Frankie says to her girlfriend, "I've suggested going back to ours."
Pleasant responds, "I'm sure Gabby will be surprised to see us back so soon," and confirms to the waiter, "We are going to leave."
The waiter says to Pleasant, "I understand. Please, take care, and we hope to see you again soon."
Pleasant says, "Thank you," and the waiter goes to the kitchen to cancel their order, and the couples go to Pleasant's place.
At Pleasant's house, the couples enter, taking off their coats and jackets, and they go to the living room to sit down. Tiffany clings to Craig tightly as they cuddle up cosily in the corner of the settee, and Frankie slides up against them, rubbing her friend's arm and shoulder comfortingly. Pleasant perches herself on the arm of the settee, casting her gaze over the trio with love and compassion.
In that moment, Gabby, 18, Pleasant's niece, rushes into the living room to ask, "Is everything okay?"
Pleasant explains, "We just needed to come back to somewhere more quiet than the restaurant. Tiffany is having a hard time," and asks her niece, "Have you stopped streaming?"
Gabby says, "I left it on BRB whilst I checked up on you. I didn't expect you back so soon. What would you want me to do?"
Pleasant says, "I would want Pristine White to go back to her stream, and give my guests and I some time to ourselves."
Gabby says, "Of course, Mistress," and leans over to get a better view of Tiffany and Craig to introduce herself to them, saying, "My name is Gabby, by the way. Nice to meet you."
Craig replies, "We're Craig and Tiffany. Nice to meet you, too."
Gabby says, "Oh, I've heard about you two. It's nice to see you in person. I hope to see more of both of you later, but, for now, I have a job to do. Time for me to get back to it." The niece leaves the living room to go back upstairs.
Pleasant says to everyone, "I'm going to order us some food in. I'm thinking pizza would be a good idea?"
Frankie responds, "Yeah, that sounds good, babe."
Pleasant says, "I'll put an order through," and uses her smartphone to do so through an app.
Tiffany says sheepishly, "This was supposed to be a date night, and I ruined it. I feel stupid."
Pleasant gets up off the arm of the settee, and kneels down in front of Tiffany, holding her hands, and tells her, "Nothing is ruined. The whole point of tonight is to be with you, Tiffany, and we are still doing that. We all wanted to get you out of the house and be with friends, and take your mind off your worries for a while, if only for a little bit. We love you, and we support you."
