The night was black velvet, pressing into my skin. A bead of sweat ran down my head, splashing off to the ground, as I walked. He was there, next to me. I sneaked a nervous glance at him.
We had been dating for 6 years, since middle school. Neither of us had ever been with anyone else. So it was only natural we moved to the next step in our relationship, right? I tried to console myself with that fact, as we walked towards my apartment. Knowing full well he wouldn't leave my room until morning.
The crickets serenaded us as we walked, fireflies lighting our path. I sighed. "Oh, it's so beautiful." He suddenly slid his arm around my waist, drawing me to him.
"Yes," he murmured, "But not as beautiful as you." I blushed. He liked to sweet talk me, entrance me with his language, his poetry. Not that I minded, of course. Many of my friend's boyfriends concentrated on things like being the best football player, and chugging the most beer at fraternity parties. Writing love songs and poems for their girlfriends definitely wasn't on their itineraries.
We reached my apartment complex, laughing and giggling up the steps. He gave me an impish grin.
"I'll race you up!" he yelled, as he leapt up the steps three-at-a time.
"What?!" I yelled, laughing. "You know I have high heels on!!!" I slipped them off, then chased him to the apartment. As I raced down the hallway towards him, I suddenly realized, crap, the janitor waxed the floor. I spun epic-ly for a second, then crashed into my boyfriend, who was waiting for me to open the door.
I saw stars for a second, and then, as I regained my senses, realized his arms were around me, pressing me into his chest. I breathed deeply, inhaling axe, sweat, and something else- him. I moaned softly as heat flooded me. He took the chance to silence me with his mouth. I wanted him, no, needed him, as his lips hungrily searched for mine.
"That was my nose. You missed." I giggled, when he paused.
"My bad." he murmured, voice husky with lust. His lips found his target, and we kissed. I felt my mind go blank. Nothing mattered anymore but this- his soft lips caressing mine.
