Dom and Craig met in college and they ended up living together with a group of friends for a year or so. Once they both graduated and moved away, they basically lost touch, while still responding to each other's social media every so often. A few years after graduation, one of their former housemates sent a message asking if they wanted to meet up for a kind of 'fancy' reunion dinner in a restaurant back in their college town and they both jumped at the chance.
As he lived a bit further away, Dom splashed out on a hotel room nearby. He looked in the mirror while getting ready in his room and admired his bearish, 'dad bod' kind of figure before donning his best suit and calling an Uber. He arrived at the restaurant a bit early but he found three of their housemates had already arrived. They hugged to greet each other and started talking as if they'd never been apart.
A few minutes later, Craig walked in with another guy in tow. Craig was a proud gay guy who Dom had a major crush on while he was still closeted at college. Back then, Craig was a keen rugby player and as he walked in, Dom could guess he still played as he had that classic slightly beefy build while sporting a clean-looking low fade cut and a small well-groomed beard.
As he began hugging people, Craig introduced the new guy as Tony, his boyfriend of a few years. Tony was slightly taller and similarly built, with a mischievous looking smile, a buzz cut and a 5 o'clock shadow. While they reminisced over the course of the night, Dom noticed how cute the two of them were together, constantly messing around and flirting with each other.
As dinner ended and the night drew to a close, one by one, people were saying their goodbyes and getting taxis or driving back home. Soon, only Dom, Craig and Tony were left. Having had a few drinks, conversation flowed easily and it turned out Tony was a really funny guy. Before long, the bar-restaurant rang a bell and announced they were closing soon which prompted Craig to ask where Dom was staying, "I'm in the Plaza, just a few blocks away."
"Ah, great minds think alike! We're there too. Do you want to split an Uber?" "Sure, that'd be great."
They paid up and made their way back to the hotel and Dom couldn't help but notice how hands-on Craig and Tony were in the taxi...he had to admit he was slightly jealous. While making their way through the hotel lobby and into the lift, Craig asked Dom if he wanted a nightcap since they had more drinks in the room and it was still fairly early. Dom readily agreed and they made their way to the couples' room to carry on chatting.
When they were a few drinks in, Tony couldn't help but satisfy his curiosity, "So Dom, what's your situation? Are you single, dating...married?"
"Single and ready to mingle if only I had the chance," Dom replied.
Tony looked shocked, "How can a guy like you still be single?!"
"Thanks for that, Tony, but I know I'm not the best looking guy."
"Don't be so modest, Dom, look at you, you're hot," Craig blurted out, to which Dom felt himself blushing.
