I think I mentioned before that I was a freelance photographer. Despite what you might believe, I'm actually pretty serious with my job. I can't be picky if I want to afford my apartment so I need to take jobs regardless of the location's conditions and/or climate. (Though do prioritize your health, and you don't need to take EVERY job.) I mean, I HAVE been in some pretty dirty conditions before (hello frat party orgies) so this is no big deal to me.
Which is why I took a job of taking pictures of a construction site.
They needed pictures to see how the progress of the building is going and if it was accurate to the design they agreed on. (Before getting into this career, I didn't even know that this was even a thing.) Simple enough, just take photos of the locations they told me to take and send it to them. And I'll have you know, I'm pretty good at taking pictures. It was a hobby when I was younger that I now improved to make it a career.
Going to the site, I was surprised by how big it was. I mean, sure this is a pretty big city and there are a lot of big buildings, but my employer didn't say anything about the size of it. Well, it shouldn't matter anyway. At the end of the day, I just need to take pictures of it.
Entering the site, a dwarf who called himself the supervisor questioned me. (Which fair, it can be a dangerous place to work.) I was allowed in the area once I explained who I was and looked around. Never really been to a construction site before. I knew what to expect but seeing it in person was a different experience. So much dirt and columns and construction equipment. (No shit.) And at a corner, there were construction workers having lunch.
Ah, construction workers. What many might consider the prime example of what a man should be like. Physically, anyway. Strong men who do hard work and sweat buckets doing the manly job that is construction work. I'm not gonna lie and say I don't get the appeal of them (they're exactly my type) but I go for ALL men that fit my taste. My taste being orcs. So construction workers are in my radar, just not something I think about too much.
But they were hot, can't deny that. Didn't see an orc but I'm not blinded by beauty, and those men had it.
I said hello to them and explained what I was doing there, just so they know. Didn't need everyone asking me my business there. Especially in an area that can be considered dangerous. Once that was done, I went about with my job.
No shock, taking pictures for work compared to for fun feels very different. At least I knew how to take pictures efficiently regardless. I walked around taking the pictures required and admired the work done to the structure. It looked like it was going to turn out amazing. I'm not constructor of any kind but it seemed to look pretty good with what they made so far.
Eventually, I went behind the building, which took a while. Not only was it big in height but also width. I continued my picture taking as I got an even better view of the inside. The amount of detail that went into this was impressive. And also a little much, if I'll be honest. The way it's designed made it kind of look like a maze. I couldn't even see the rest of the workers anymore unless I decided to go back.
As I admired the layout, I heard a rumbling voice.
"What's a little thing like you doing here?"
I turned around and was met with a wall of muscle. I looked up and saw an orc towering over me. His face had a five o'clock shadow and gave a neutral expression. (At least he didn't look angry.) He had a worker's coverall that fit him like second skin, leaving very little to the imagination. He wore all the required clothing for the job; thick gloves, worker boots, and a hard hat. He was exactly what one would think of a muscular construction worker.
While I was salivating at the sight of him, a part of me I also found this funny. This is similar to how I met Hugh, my landlord, in person. With any luck, it could also lead the same route.
I giggled and tilted my head down slightly, "Am I that out of place?"
The orc gave an amused huff, "When you're surrounded by guys that look like they can be in a wrestling arena, someone of your physique can catch one's eye. Also, you're not wearing a uniform."
Fair point, not exactly the most muscular man out there. (But still toned, thank you very much!)
I shrugged at him, "I don't know, I think I can fit in if I was the ring girl."
Bit of a twink joke, but it can maybe help me gauge to see what he thinks of that.
His expression changed into a smirk. Okay, that looks promising.
"Oh, you're cute."
He then placed his hands on his hips, making him look like he's doing a superhero stance.
"In all seriousness though, what are you doing here?"
Okay, that time I had to answer the question.
"I'm taking pictures of the progress of the building to send it to the higher-ups."
The look of understanding took his face, "Ah. You're the photographer. Hope I wasn't bothering you."
"It's alright, I was also looking around. Gotta say, you guys are doing a good job! It's looking really cool!"
He smiled with pride, "We know what we're doing. Now it's just if the owner's will like it."
"At the risk of offending my employer, they would be idiots to."
We both have a laugh at that.
"You sure know how to make a guy more confident."
I smiled, "You're welcome! I didn't see you with the other workers. They were having lunch on the other side of the building."
He gave a chuckle as he looked at the direction they were at, "When I'm eating my lunch, I like to eat by myself. After some hard work I like to relax and enjoy a meal. And those guys just love to talk. They're good people, but I like to recover some of my energy before going back to work."
I nodded my head, "I get it. In that case, sorry I talked your ear off while you were on your break."
He shook his head as he returned his gaze to me, "Don't be. I talked to you first, didn't I? And you're much more tame compared to those loud fucks."
I again giggled, he sure is charming for an imposing guy. Then again, orcs can do that to you. But I've learned a long time ago that they can be real softies. And great fucks, but we already knew that.
He stretches his arms as he let out a sigh, "I'm probably taking your time from your job. How much more do you need?"
"Oh, I just need a couple more shots and I'll be done. Nothing to worry about."
"Alright. I'll enjoy the rest of my break over there then. Is that alright? Or have you not taken pictures of there yet?"
He pointed at one of the sides of the building, it already had some wood placed up for them to be walls.
"I've already taken pictures of that area, go ahead."
"Great, let me know when you're done."
He went away as I got back to work. I just needed a few more pictures and I'll be able to send them over.
I looked over at the orc (who I still didn't know the name of) as he was leaning on the wall and looking at his phone. The way he was posing showcased all of his body and stretched that coverall to what's probably its limit. His muscles, pecs, abs, legs, and (yes) groin were perfectly outlined just for my eyes to enjoy. I quickly took pictures of him as I tried to make it look like I was instead taking pictures of the building next to the one he was at. (Though I admit it was terrible.) Those pictures will at least satisfy my imagination if I never get to have that hunk all over me.
I finished up and went back to him. He got off his phone once I was in close proximity.
"That should be all, at least from what the client described." I said.
He gave me that handsome smirk again, "Good, good. We'll probably hear from them if they want anything changed or something."
He then crossed his arms and looked at me intently with that smirk still placed on his face.
"Now, are you going to explain why you tried to secretly take pictures of me?"
I froze a little, but knew I did a horrible job trying to be discreet.
