This is a short story I wanted to share. Many of my stories are longer or have many chapters. I thought it would be fun to put up some shorter ones that I really enjoyed writing. There is no follow up to this story.
The VP asked me to take over a new department at work.. Previously, I oversaw all Marketing and Business Process Management. The new department included overseeing all the Account Managers too and that included an Account Manager in training named Dillon.
He graduated last December and is spending a year working in various depts. to learn everything about our company before he steps into his role of Account Manager or what everyone calls "AM." He's very eager, energetic, supremely confident and even a bit arrogant. I have a good-sized office that was originally a room for 3 of our developers. I kept all 3 desks, 2 are mine and I use the 3rd as a training desk, so I can put new hires there while I train them. It is convenient to have them close. I rather enjoyed putting him there as he is nice to look at.
After a couple days he got much more comfortable with me and less intimidated. He was telling a story about having taken out his girlfriend over the weekend and he ended by hinting (with a hand gesture) that she rewarded him with oral sex. I looked up at him and he immediately had that look where I could tell he was trying to figure out if he should have taken his story that far or not. I smiled & winked and said, "I'm human."
He chuckled and said, "for the record, I'm not a selfish boyfriend. I always repay the favor. Actually, I love doing it. I do it for her all the time whether I get it back or not. I know a lot of guys don't like to do it. What about you?"
I completely stopped and turned my whole chair toward him. "I don't think I can give this conversation an HR stamp of approval." I started to turn back away.
"You're human. I've heard you make some fairly colorful jokes while talking to other people here."
I replied, "Yeah, I've known those people a long time and they don't work for me, so it's a little different. But to answer your question, yes."
