The first few weeks of college for an incoming freshman are anything but normal. Attempting to locate all of your classes, not to mention the dining hall, student center, library and every other damn place can be a challenge for many. The task gets even more challenging if the campus sprawls throughout a town as was the case at this small, liberal arts college in central Maine.
On top of everything else, and at the heart of any freshman's adjustment to college life, is getting familiar with a roommate. It certainly is easier today than it used to be. Thanks to modern technology and social media, incoming freshmen have the unique opportunity to make contact and get to know one another before ever meeting in person. Yet, there is usually a period of awkwardness when two people, unfamiliar with each other in any real way, are thrown into a tiny room together -- not much larger than a jail cell -- and attempt to live ordinary lives.
Such was the case with Logan Temple and Aidan Simmons, two wide-eyed freshmen who wandered around campus in a daze for a couple weeks as they took in their new environment and adapted to a different way of living.
For all practical purposes, Logan and Aidan were a perfect match. They had similar schedules throughout the day with classes in the morning and work study assignments in the afternoon. It even happened that they shared two classes together -- the required freshman English and Math. Regarding work, Aidan was in the library sorting and shelving what few book students used anymore, and Logan managed to find a job in the Bursar's office stuffing envelopes, a rather tedious and boring exercise.
Both were early risers and walked to the dining hall together each morning with a small handful of others to eat breakfast before beginning their day. Similarly, they would trek back there in the evening for dinner and then to their small dorm room, which overlooked a large pond, to do homework.
They were also alike in their study habits, preferring to complete any reading or other assignments directly after dinner before venturing out to mingle with others in their doom before going to bed.
For the first couple of weeks neither Logan nor Aidan endeavored to go very far from their dorm room, except to attend class, or eat, or work. They weren't necessarily shy people, but they weren't the most outgoing either. To be honest, they actually preferred each other's company to that of anyone else they had met, and they came to the conclusion that whichever person in the Admissions Office who put their two names together for roommates deserved a medal.
They had heard horror stories about crazy roommate situations, but theirs was certainly not the case. They had found out quickly that they had much more in common than they could have ever imagined -- and that realization would only strengthen as the semester progressed.
Aidan was the more self-confident of the two, relaxed and casual in almost every respect. He possessed an easy sense of himself, was carefree and honest. The adage, "What you see is what you get," would aptly describe him. Maybe it helped that Aidan was from Massachusetts, so going away to college in a neighboring state didn't require much of an overall adjustment for him. Or maybe he had just experienced more things in his young life than others, from his parent's divorce and being sent away to various camps at an early age.
Standing at 5 feet 11 inches, Aidan was a nice, respectable size and had developed some definite muscles from the many athletics he played. This had included soccer in the fall and basketball in the winter, followed by baseball in the spring and swimming all summer long. Although, he wasn't involved in any athletic program at the college.
Aidan had dark brown hair and green eyes that sparkled with an element of mischief or deviousness, depending on the situation. He also possessed a great sense of humor and he found no better target than himself. He liked to laugh and have fun, never taking anything or anyone very seriously -- including himself. It was hardly any wonder that many people, including his new roommate, found Aidan easy and fun to be around.
Logan, on the other, hailed from California and looked every bit of it. He was thin, almost sinewy in shape, and measured 5 feet 7 inches in length. He looked as if a strong wind would knock him on his ass. His hair was dirty blond with a slight natural curl, especially when wet, and he always wore a pair of Keds without socks and Bahama shorts in every imaginable hue. Logan also emitted a fragrance that was like something tropical. Aidan didn't know if it was the shampoo Logan used, or his body wash or deodorant, or it was just the way people from California smelled, but he liked it a lot.
Upon first glance, Logan almost looked like some surfer dude, except smaller and with less build. Still, he fit the mental picture Aidan had about people from California. When questioned about why he had come across the entire country to attend college, Logan told his new roommate that it was because Maine was as far away from his parents as he could possibly get without going abroad. This was something Aidan could understand perfectly.
In addition, Logan was quiet and reserved. It wasn't that he was particularly withdrawn as he got along with everyone very well, he was just a bit more distant and guarded than Aidan -- more cautious in his approach to people and circumstances. Aidan suspected his new friend had been through some turmoil in his life and trusting others didn't necessarily come easy for him.
Yet, despite any differences they had, Logan and Aidan got along exceptionally well and assimilated very quickly into their new surroundings and daily routines. They also agreed on most issues and shared similar viewpoints. Under the circumstances, they felt lucky to have one another.
It was during the last week in September, just as the leaves started to turn color and the days grew noticeably shorter, that both of their lives changed forever. It began innocently enough, as things of this nature often do, but it was profound enough to last a lifetime.
Logan had a habit of showering each evening after he completed his homework. It was during this time, when he was down the hall in the bathroom, that Aidan would jerk himself off since it was one of the few times all day that he was entirely alone.
This particular night, as Aidan was tugging vigorously toward climax, Logan appeared in the doorway wrapped in a towel, his hair all wet and curled. He stepped through the door just as Aidan's dick erupted with several squirts of white juice. Logan's sudden intake of breath alerted Aidan to his presence and he turned to see his roommate staring at him.
"Um...," Aidan stammered, firmly stroking his cock with his right hand.
Logan was both shocked and embarrassed. It certainly wasn't like he didn't masturbate, he just didn't expect to see his roommate going at it. "Uh...I...sorry." He quickly came in the room, then turned around to shut and lock the door.
Grabbing some Kleenex from the small box on his desk, Aidan wiped up his goo and cleaned off his prick. "I...uh...wasn't expecting you so soon. Obviously. You took a quick shower tonight."
"Did I? I'm sorry," Logan repeated, although he didn't know why he was apologizing. He wasn't the one standing there with his dick in his hands.
"Yeah -- I usually finish way before you come back." Aidan smiled meekly at his roommate as he tucked his limp dick back in his pants.
Logan walked to his bed and took a seat. He wasn't really sure what to do or say. Thankfully, Aidan did the talking for both of them.
"Look, Logan. We need to talk about this. I mean, you know...now that it happened. I didn't mean for you to see that, and I hope you're not too embarrassed but we need to figure things out." Aidan zipped up his shorts and took a seat on the hard metal chair in front of his desk before continuing. "I need to jack off, man. I'm used to jerking it like two or three times a day, but since starting college I'm pretty much only able to do it once and that's when you're taking a shower. I've ducked into one of the bathroom stalls in the library a couple times to rub one out, when I just couldn't wait, but I'd prefer not to do that. I'd rather to do it right here."
Sitting on his thin, uncomfortable mattress, Logan nodded his head slowly. "Yeah, I know what you mean."
"Where do you do it?" Aidan asked curiously, looking over at his friend.
Gazing down at the floor, Logan tried to hide his nervousness but it was too obvious.
