SILVER FOX
Chapter 16: Gay Baiting
I did not say anything to Nick about the "live-show" which turned out not to be one.
Whatever my roommate was up to, - making me rim his asshole with no audience to see it -, I was glad that he had done it.
His hole tasted damn delicious and I would be lying through my teeth if I did not say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Besides, I did not intend to make things weird by having a talk about our "feelings".
Although, one could consider that things were already "weird" between us.
We were so deep in our X-rated activities that the line between fiction and real life was getting blurrier by the day.
Nick was spending a lot of his time looking for a place now so I just assumed things would go back to normal once he would be gone.
Do not get me wrong, I loved having his peach bum wandering around, but for both our sanities, we needed to have, at the very least, each our separate room.
The poor guy had been sleeping on the couch for nearly a month. His back was probably hurting more than his ass from the dildo fucking.
And, no pun intended, it must have been a real pain in the ass having no intimacy at all.
I could always go to my bedroom but Nick was living in our shared space.
Not that he seemed to mind exposing himself that much...
About a month in, it was also the moment we hit our first bump in the road in our seemingly unstoppable ascension in the world of the adult business.
Most of the subscriptions of the followers who had joined when we had hit our biggest viral moment were coming to an end and Logan first pointed out this issue to us, many of them had not renewed their subscription for the following month.
It was a bit of a gibberish for me at first, but basically, it meant that soon enough, my number of fans would drastically decrease and I was not ready for this.
Since I had started this thing off, the stats had only been exponentially increasing, I was a bit worried to experience it the other way around.
Also, I did not have any other job to turn to if this were to fail on the long-term.
Logan was coming to my place, - or rather, Nick and I's place now -, to discuss this.
He was not too concerned since our debut had exceeded all expectations but it was time that we have another strategy meeting to see where we were going.
We were receiving proposals of collaboration but most of those guys were living in Los Angeles, and we also started to get some disappointed subscribers.
I could not understand what I was doing wrong since I was posting consistently and really doing the most to make my fans happy.
Once again, Logan was of great help.
"First of all, the fact that there's a slight decrease in followers a month after you had gone super viral is only natural. The most difficult part is not to gain followers but to keep them, and you have set the bar very high for the first few months."
I had made in a couple of months more than in a year of working in construction, there was no doubt we had smashed it.
I just had to keep reminding myself that this might be only temporary.
For now, the only thing I had done with the money was to pay off my remaining debts, which was honestly a huge relief.
"I'm not scared of losing subscribers, I'm not Nick." I said to Logan, making fun of my partner in crime.
"Hey, I'm not afraid of losing subs either. I'm doing just fine!"
This was a touchy subject for my roommate.
The poor guy was refreshing his page so often to make sure his stats were still going up, it was obvious that he was as addicted to the likes, notifications, and online fame as he was to actually making money (if not more).
"As I said, it just makes sense that you may lose some subs after a huge debut. I'm more concerned about the few criticisms which are starting to pop up here and there online."
"We know the haters; we don't give a fuck about them." Nick intervened.
Funny he would say that because as much as I would completely ignore the hateful messages, Nick would spend hours and hours going through them and checking their profiles to make sure that those people insulting us were, indeed, pathetic losers.
"I'm not talking about the haters; I'm talking about actual subscribers who write directly to you or share posts in forums claiming that you're gay baiting. There's only a few for now but I think we should be careful about that."
"What does it mean anyway? I read that a couple times too, but I almost thought this was a positive thing." I spoke.
"It's not. Well, I guess it depends who you'd talk to, but basically, those people are saying that you're using gay people to make money while you're not even gay yourself."
"Isn't it the whole point? I'm confused, they're all into me precisely because I'm a regular straight dude. It's how this whole thing started!"
"See, the issue is not that you're straight, not at all."
That was a good thing because I could not really do much about that point, although I was not even sure that I was that straight anymore...
"That's reassuring. What is it then?"
"They consider that you're quote-on-quote baiting them teasing gay content, especially since you two have been doing videos together, when, in the end, you never do more than slightly fooling around."
"Slightly fooling around? I'm shoving dildos up his freaking ass! I'm jerking him off!" I snapped.
"You jerked Nick off? I've never seen that." Logan replied, perplexed.
Oopsie.
That had only happened once during the live-show, well, what I had thought had been a live-show with Allan.
"We've been doing it privately, for paying members." Nick explained.
I tried to gage his reaction but he did not let anything through.
That man knew for certain that no one had seen us jerking each other off but he had visibly no problem lying to Logan.
Interesting...
Also, I wondered if Logan was having any type of feeling, knowing he was no longer the only man who had stroked Silver Fox' fat dick.
"Well, that's one of the issues. The shows you sell privately tend to leak everywhere and that's not good."
"The dildo video brought us thousands of subscribers." Nick pointed out.
"That's true, but I think that the majority of subscribers who do not pay for the VIP stuff but who still got to see what you're doing in private through the leaks feel like it is not worth subscribing anymore."
"I suppose that makes sense..." I spoke. "If you pay for something but you can get better stuff for free online, what's the point or remaining a subscriber for the base-line content?"
"And in any case, even those who pay for the privates, some of them at least, consider that there's a bit of a scam in the fact that you're not doing actual gay things, like, you're fucking Nick with a dildo, not your cock."
"Damn. Why is this shit so complicated?" I whined, putting my head in my hands.
"You cannot really expect to make 15.000$ a month and it being easy."
"I guess you're right... But what should we do then?"
Thankfully, Logan did not seem stressed at all, and quite the opposite, he smiled as he exposed his plan.
As usual, he had thought everything through and he knew exactly what to do next.
"First of all, I think we need to go back to being stricter on our leaked content's strategy. From now on, I will report every single leak going on and people will eventually learn that we're not to be messed with when their accounts get blocked for copyright infringement."
The leaks had helped to get us on the map but it was time to put an end to that. We were famous enough already.
Nick and I looked at each other and we nodded yes in approval.
We had become some sort of a package deal now; we were making decisions together.
"Second of all... Well, regarding what to do next in terms of content, I suppose that essentially depends on you and how far you're willing to take this. Even if you slow things down and lose subscribers, you will be able to maintain a descent revenue at this point, at least for a while."
"But we'll be losing money?"
"You won't be making 14.000$ a month, that's for sure. But you don't have to change anything if you feel uncomfortable going any further. You'll just have to be honest and say to your audience that this is as far as you're willing to go."
"And what if we want to take full advantage of this and get freaking rich?!" Nick immediately spoke up.
