The bathhouse had been a popular haunt for as long as I can remember, it's location on a busy city street insuring a steady flow of people going inside.
At 20 years old I have just recently realized my sexuality, a private matter that I keep secret. People who know me remember a high school football player as well as a guy who once dated a cheerleader named Jackie.
That warm day in July I had told my mom that I had just bought a gym membership and gave her its location. "I plan on going there after work."
It was 5 o'clock on a Saturday. My shift at the book store had ended, finally. Not long afterward I parked the 10 year old blue Honda CRV on a lot in the rear and headed to the entrance.
The attendant at the desk wore a rainbow shirt that seemed to scream "I'M GAY". A lean, blue-eyed blond, he immediately made me wonder if he has a boyfriend.
"Good afternoon, Welcome to Apollo," he said, his voice cheerful.
"I want to buy a membership."
"You can buy one day, a month, six months or a year."
I thought for second comparing prices, considering my budget and how often I could make time to come to the club.
Inside I gazed for a few seconds at the men and gym equipment all around me.
A spacious changing room turned out to have individual showers, stacks of towels and even a coatrack. Blue lockers are stacked one atop the other.
As I did in the workout room, I gazed at the men, some of whom were taking a shower,
It took me only a couple of minutes to secure my clothing and valuables in an upper locker.
In the workout room I came face to face with a strikingly handsome dude. His light-brown hair framed a diamond-shaped face. Kissable bow-shaped lips, and blue eyes really got my attention.
Anyway I began my workout at the bench. After taking a couple of deep breaths the bar rose off my chest as if pushed by a stream of air. I repeated the exercise ten times, then added plates to each end.
I was about to begin a third set when the hunk who caught my eyes minutes earlier engaged me in chat.
"I like your form."
"This isn't my first work out. I used to use the weights at the high school back in the day."
"Did you play sports?"
"Football for three years then I got a job," I replied.
"Did you go to college?"
