The time was 9 o'clock. Bulbs embedded in the ceiling illuminated a 40' by 20' swimming pool and 12' diameter hot-tub. I walked on a blue and white ceramic tile, skid proof floor and gazed through large windows at the dark sky. A dozen chaise lounges were aligned around the pool. Beside the exit there was a large round table with a half dozen chairs. Besides myself, a strikingly handsome youthful attendant sitting behind the counter was the only occupant.
I came into the changing room. A half-length wall divided that room into equal size spaces_one with a few shower stalls, toilet stalls and urinals; the other with a few dozen tall blue lockers.
Having left my clothes in locker 14, I changed into Navy swim trunks then stopped at the desk just to chat with the attendant. I found myself captivated by his big brown eyes and full lips. Dimples added charm to his square face.
"How are you tonight?"
"I'm good," he replied.
"I'm from out of town."
That tidbit prompted him to mention places to go and things to do.
"Sounds like fun," I replied.
"Where's out of town?"
"Boston," I said, declining to give an exact address.
"Vacation," he queried.
"Business, I'm an electrical engineer. Is this your only job?"
"Only til I finish college," he replied. "I go to University of Indiana."
"What's your major?"
"Accounting."
"I'm not much older than you."
"May I ask how old?"
"Twenty-five," I replied.
I made a few observations about Boston and more specifically the town where I live. He talked about his home town and college life so I talked a little about college and my home town.
