My name is Julien. I'm a 30-year-old guy who is about 5 foot 8 inches tall and weigh about 160 pounds. I joined a gym because I wanted to get in shape after my divorce. I didn't have much luck with women in the past and thought maybe if I had a better physique I could attract someone. I was working at home and it seemed like it would be good for my overall health.
I tried really hard to stick with it but it was really tough. It was also kind of intimidating because there were so many big guys at the gym who were obviously experienced. They were very confident and I felt a lot like an outsider. I started to think about quitting when I noticed a sign on the wall advertising personal trainers. The trainers were certified and you could have sessions with them once a week at no extra charge. I figured I'd give it a shot and signed up.
The trainer they gave me was a big, black guy who seemed like a nice enough dude. His name was Calvin and he had a nice, deep voice. He was very friendly and polite but also pretty pushy. He asked me why I joined the gym and I told him about how I wanted to get into better shape because of my divorce. He nodded sympathetically and said he understood. I told him I was mostly interested in working my chest muscles because that's where you could see the results the fastest. He laughed and said it would take a lot more than that to get the results I wanted. He said he would work me hard and help me make the changes I wanted.
I went to my first session with Calvin and was surprised to find out that he only wanted to do lower body exercises. He started me off by doing a lot of leg lifts. He put me on my back on a flat bench and had me lift a barbell up with my feet. I was having trouble keeping it up for the first few tries. Calvin would help me by putting his hands under it and helping me lift it up. He said that it was important to build my leg strength for stability. It seemed weird to me, but he said he knew what he was talking about. We did that for a while before moving on to other leg exercises like squats and lunges.
I went home that night feeling really sore. My legs were throbbing from all the work. I was thinking that I must have done something wrong but I figured it would feel better tomorrow. The next day was the same, though. My legs felt like they were on fire and I had trouble even walking around my apartment. I started wondering if I should call off my second appointment with Calvin. I decided to give it another shot and see how it went.
Calvin had a big smile on his face when he saw me. He said, "Good morning Julien. It looks like you're looking good." I told him that my legs were killing me and he said that was normal.
He said I was building up new muscle and that meant it would hurt. He told me that in a couple weeks it would feel a lot better and I would have a lot more muscle.
He didn't want to do chest exercises again and instead started me on some glute exercises. He had me do a lot of hip thrusts and then we moved on to some leg curls. We worked out my core a bit, too. Then we ended up with a lot of stretching so I would get more flexible.
After a while I started getting used to the workout routine and the pain was less. I also started noticing that my ass was feeling tighter and more rounded. I could feel my glutes were bigger and more pronounced. I had started taking progress pictures in the mirror at home and I could see some real changes. My ass was a lot rounder than it had ever been before. My legs were more toned and the muscles were more defined.
I mentioned my progress to Calvin and he was very pleased. He told me I was doing great and that it would get better over time. He said it was important for me to continue eating healthy to get the most out of my workouts. He gave me a list of foods to eat more of and told me to cut back on the sugar and processed foods. I really wasn't sure what that would do but I wanted to keep seeing progress so I took his advice.
One day Calvin came over and gave me a bottle of pills. He said they were supplements and that it was important for muscle growth. He said I had to take one every morning with breakfast. I wasn't really sure what they would do but he assured me they were safe and legal.
