The time on the computer read 8:21pm. Callum would be in for a rough night with his girlfriend for staying at the office this late.
Callum rubbed his temples and groaned, the weight of the deadlines looming over him was taking it's toll and he knew it.
The office had an eerie silence to it at this time of night, only the clacking of keyboard broke the silence. The open bullpen of the office, flanked by closed meeting rooms on either side, meant that most noises carried to both ends.
Callum stood up to stretch, he had been typing for over an hour without moving and his back knew it.
Callum stood at 6ft and was of broad build. Although he would describe his build as 'slight', he had built up a slight paunch due to beer and excess food. His mousy brown hair had recently been cut so was nicely sat atop his head which displayed vivid green eyes and freshly trimmed stubble.
As he stretched, he felt an odd pull in his shoulder and then a soft burn run down his shoulder blade.
"Agh, fuck!" Callum exclaimed, safe in the solitude of the office.
"Hey, are you ok over there?" A voice spoke from the silence making Callum jump. The voice came from the other end of the bullpen and belonged to Matt, someone from Finance who Callum rarely interacted with.
Matt was a different build to Callum entirely. If you could describe someone as looking like a jock, that would be Matt. Standing at 5ft 11, Matts build was stocky but not overweight, it clearly looked like Matt frequented the gym. He also had brown hair but it was darker than Callums, his icy blue eyes and clean shaven face made him a perfect corporate bod.
"Oh shit, you scared me!" Callum replied. "I thought it was only me left here."
"Nah, just the 2 of us," Matt pointed out. "I've had my head down working pretty solidly so it's not a surprise you didn't notice me. What's up over there though, I heard you shout out?"
"Ah it's nothing man, I just stretched and seemed to pull something in my shoulder. It's my own fault for not getting up and moving more often." Callum sat back down but could feel that something was off in his shoulder now.
Suddenly, a voice appeared from his side, "Yeah I've found that if I don't stretch often then when I do finally break from whatever I'm doing I'm a bit stiffer then usual" Matt was at Callums desk with a glass of water. "Here, have some water, it's good to stay hydrated, especially for muscles"
Callum had no idea if that was true, or how Matt had got to his desk without him noticing, but gladly took the water as he hadn't drank in over an hour.
"Thanks man. I've definitely done some damage to my shoulder though." Callum said, rotating his shoulder slowly.
"Whoa, don't do that if you've hurt your shoulder!" Matt exclaimed, quite animatedly. "Sorry, I'm an ex-sports physio and that was something that a lot of my patients did before they saw me and it always left them feeling worse."
"Wow, Sports Physio to Finance Analyst, that's quite the reversal of roles!" Callum joked.
"Yeah, the money wasn't great so... although I love healing through these hands, I had to chase the gold..." Matt sighed, and glanced longingly at Callum's shoulder.
"Well hey man, I've still got a few reports to knock out before I leave, feel free to give this shoulder some healin' if you're missing it!" Callum replied, half jokingly. Callum had always enjoyed male company, dabbling with them discretely on a number of occasions, so this type of joke was a great invitation.
"Yeah why not!" Matt jumped at the opportunity, almost waiting for the invitation. Matt started gently rubbing Callum's shoulder through his cotton shirt. "How does that feel? I can definitely feel something in here."
Callum let out a low groan, still in his seat but not typing as he enjoyed the feeling of his muscle being worked. "That feels great, you can go a bit harder if you like though. On second thoughts, I don't know how I'm going to do the reports at the same time as this, this is so relaxing!"
"Ok, well if you're not going to work then go ahead and stand up, it gives me a better angle to work your shoulder." Matt let the invitation linger in the air.
