Running through the rest of her phone calls that afternoon was a challenge. Sometimes things just fit on a calendar (like that morning when the Steadmans were able to make it on five minute's notice;) other times she found herself placing appointments a week to ten days later. The appointment she REALLY wanted (spending time with Chad tonight) wasn't possible. The project he was working on had hit a snag and untangling it had become problematic; he wouldn't be home until 9:30 or 10:00. Paige got up, unlocked her office door, and checked the snail-mail in the basket by Jimmy's desk. There was nothing addressed to her, so she returned to her computer, finished up the Steadman offer, and sent it on its way. Lo and behold, an hour later it came back stating the owners would go $390,000...but absolutely no lower.
"Hello Jack? Paige Turner. Good news and less than good news! The owners will come down, but no lower than three-ninety. You will? That fits your budget, right? Oh my God! You're the one who approves home mortgages at your bank? Now isn't that convenient! Yes, Uh-huh...I'll call you in the morning, Yes... Congratulations, I think this is a lock!"
"How great is this?" she thought while typing up the reply and approving the counter-offer. She laughed to herself when the following thought was, "I wonder which member of the swing group will be calling me next?" Finishing up the schedule for the next day worked out well. The McCullers closing was at 10:00 and there would be two showings in the afternoon. It looked like she'd be able to get home by 4:30 both Thursday and Friday!
Later on her 4:00 pm appointment canceled, so she called her mother, "Hi Mom!, it looks like I'll be home early tonight; anything I need to pick up on my way home?"
"No, everything looks good here; the only thing is I'm planning dinner. With what I'm making, there will be leftovers. Maybe you would like to invite Chad to eat with us again?" Trudy snickered, "Then there won't BE any leftovers!"
"Very true, except he can't make it. Hey, how about Marie and Michelle?"
"Nice! Let me know if they're coming."
Paige called her immediately and Marie picked up on the third ring. "Hi you! Talk fast, I see the truck I've been waiting for turning into the dock."
"Kay, how 'bout you and Michelle coming for dinner at 6:00 tonight and we let the kids play a while afterward?"
"Deal! See ya, gotta go!"
After calling her mom back, she sat at her desk and looked at the clock, 4:15. For just a moment she thought about calling Charlie Green and filling him in on the day's lunch conversation with Allie Pruitt. The redhead even picked up her phone and was poised to call. But at that precise moment she heard Jimmy come into the office, so she dropped the phone back onto her desk.
Jimmy knocked and stuck his head in, "Hey Paige! How'd your day go?"
"Outstanding, Boss! I think we have sale number two in River Oaks!"
Jimmy gave a small fist pump, "Believe it or not, I have two leads on that River Oaks neighborhood myself! Know what else? I've been looking at our figures for the last eight months. They've been improving steadily!"
"That is SO great!"
"It's better than great; I'm seriously thinking about hiring an office person for us. Receptionist/secretary/staffer... whatever you want to call it!"
"Oh my God, that would be awesome! Gonna advertise or do you have someone in mind?"
"We'll see. If you have any thoughts on this, let me know by Monday, okay?"
"I will! Right now I'm leaving, I'll see you in the morning."
"Have a great one, say 'Hi' to Chad for me!"
As she climbed into her car, the phone was in her hand. Charlie's number was staring back at her. "Why call him?" she said out loud, "Allie will for sure fill him in on that talk we had, won't she? And where will this go anyway? I don't need something else on my plate, do I?" Three months ago it was just her and Chad; life was pretty easy. Now? Stopped at a red light, she counted things off on her fingers: one, they were getting married in three weeks; two, Marie had come into her life; three, she and Marie were exploring the swing group (not to mention the threesome they already had with Sara McCullers;) four, she and Marie were going to have a threesome with Chad; five, Chad was involved with Sylvie and Sylvie wanted to meet her! And six, here was the Charlie Green thing! Paige chastised herself, "What is my problem? I'm out of fucking control!" Looking at her reflection in the rear-view mirror, she said, "Yeah, you must be a for-real slut!" But then came the last thought before she got home, "And I'm loving it!" THAT made her shiver again!
They had a fun time at the dinner table; Marie ended up telling zoo stories, and the kids loved that! When she happened to mention the camels, Sophie said, "Oh, I know a joke! Why do camels never get hungry crossing the desert?" Nobody knew so she said, "Because they're always eating the 'sand-wiches' there!"
All the adults were laughing but Jimmy was puzzled, "There aren't any sandwiches in the desert!" That made them laugh even more! Michelle and Jamie were (of course) oblivious.
After cleaning up, the women took the kids out to the front yard to play. Olivia and Sophie decided to watch "Wheel of Fortune" with Grandma, so Paige and Marie had time to talk on the porch.
Paige opened it up, "So Marie, any further thoughts on our conversation with Allie today?"
"At first I thought you were pulling my leg somehow, but as soon as Allie said she knew Charlie, I realized you weren't kidding! Are you positively set on seeing him again?"
"Actually, I was tempted to call him today," Paige replied. She looked up at the ceiling, "But then I thought no, I'm not gonna chase him! There's too much going on right now, and he's trying to keep four women happy anyway."
"I have to meet this guy," the brunette admitted, "if only to see what all the fuss is about!"
"You know, maybe if you just 'happened' to be in my office for his closing, I could introduce you!"
"Oh Wow! We can do that? Then yes, with this new flexibility in my schedule, I think I can make it; when is it?"
Paige locked eyes with her bestie, "I hope to find out tomorrow. But speaking of your schedule, I'm wondering if you're planning on making regular visits to the boss's office in the future?"
Marie shook her head, "No, not regularly; regular carries expectations, and I don't want it to become predictable." She paused, "But, God, was that ever hot! I love getting my ass fucked sometimes; it depends on what kind of mood I'm in."
"Mood? As in a 'horny' mood?"
Her friend giggled, "Point taken!"
Paige laughed, "Anyway, that was VERY hot! I thought about you and Jason a lot yesterday. What with our anal play at Sara's and your story with Jason, I really want to try that sometime!"
Marie winked, "In the meantime, I'm going to order a toy like the one we used with her! Then when you and I are together, we can play with it!"
The redhead blushed, "I'd really like that!" Glancing at her watch she added, "It's getting toward Jamie's bedtime; Michelle's too?"
"Yeah, too bad! Let's give them five more minutes."
"Okay." While the two of them watched the kids having fun together, all of a sudden Paige felt a desire growing. It persisted for the next two minutes, so she just said it, "Hey Marie, I don't know if you have plans; but maybe we could do the threesome with Chad tomorrow night?"
"Seriously?"
"Totally!"
"I would love to! You've thought through all the possible complications right?"
"Oh yes, I know people always say that jealousy becomes the problem. I just don't see it with us."
"I don't either," Marie reflected, "but regardless, I'm assuming this will be at his house? If it is, then I'll need a sitter." She pulled out her phone and tapped out a message to Kayla.
Paige called Chad, "Hello, my Love!"
"Hey Sexy! I'm still stuck over here, someone located a weight-bearing wall six inches off."
"Yuck! Okay, I won't keep you. We were wondering if you're going to be home anytime early enough tomorrow night?"
"Who's 'we?'"
"Me and Marie!"
There was a long pause. "Holy Shit!"
The redhead laughed, "I'll take that as a yes!"
"Uh, YES?"
