KATE CH 2 OLD HABITS DON'T DIE
Kate graduated and took a job in her field. Tommy and she went their own way, and she began her professional career. As the time past, she advanced in her career to the point where she was beginning to think about her own business. She was in mortgage financing, so it would take a good deal of money to begin.
This was when she met Roger. He was a well-to-do man a little older than her who was in the same business. He had started his own business and had done well enough to sell it for a goodly amount. Now he was getting restless, itching to get back in. His non-compete clause was going to expire in a few months, and he wanted to get back in. Roger liked Kate. He thought she was smart and driven. She was someone he thought he could work with. And she was beautiful, too. Don't kid yourself, a beautiful woman around made business easier. There were a lot of people intimated by a beautiful woman. He found he could work with the wives, but he needed someone to cause the husbands to be a little off balance. Kate was perfect.
Roger had asked Kate if they could sit down and talk about opportunities? She agreed and they set a date. Kate was happy about it because she knew he had the money to start a new business, and if he wanted into her pants to accomplish that, that would be okay too.
They met a very exclusive restaurant. He had no trouble getting a reservation, and that was a good sign.
"Kate, thanks for meeting with me, and if you don't mind me saying, you look perfect!"
Kate smiled and said, "You don't look so bad yourself." They discussed a business merger during the dinner, but it wasn't long before they were thinking about a private merger also.
All their meetings were held in nice restaurants instead of offices. By the time they had agreed to a deal, they were set on other items also in their minds.
"It is agreed, then, I will provide the money and you will provide the original staff and original customers. We will be 50/50 partners in this endeavor. I think we need to celebrate this." He was smiling.
Kate knew exactly how to celebrate this. "I think I can find a very appropriate way to celebrate our union." If he had any doubt before, that took care of it. "I am sure your place is much nicer than mine."
They had gone from just meeting to merging in more ways than one within two months. He had picked her up at her place, so he wasn't worried about her car. He led her out to his car, and they were off.
Kate knew his address but had never looked it up. Maybe she should have. He stopped at a gated entranceway, slid a card into a reader, and the massive gates opened. He didn't live in a house, he lived in a mansion. The garage door opened as he arrived to reveal three more of the nicest cars she had ever seen.
