Gale kept thinking back to what Patrick told her. His father didn't want him to marry a girl like him. She knew there was something going on with his dad because he wasn't social with her at all. He just fired off a bunch of questions about her family and what she planned on doing for the future. She just thought he was being overprotected but she was nothing but nice to him. She figured his mom would at least stuck up for her, but nothing; not even Patrick. After she told her, she went ahead and left the place going back to her house just to clear her head.
She was torn a little though. She saw the vulnerable look in his eyes as he talked about how he thought he was doing all this for her. It made her let her guard down just a little bit more, but it still hurt the fact that he didn't stick by her. The other problem as she knew her body; once she got a taste of Patrick, she would want more. She needed to get her head straight.
When she finally got some free time, she found herself in front of Dominique's door waiting for her to come open it.
"Gale, what's going? Are you alright?" Dominique asked as soon as she saw her.
"Hey, I need to talk to you for a minute."
"Sure, come in." Dominique said moving inside as Gale followed her.
She followed Dominique to the living room and Dominique eased down on the couch. Gale smiled to herself as she sat on the opposite side.
"Okay, what's on your mind?"
"I just needed someone to talk to and I didn't want to go to my sisters, because I know how they are. I didn't know who else to turn to and I know, you're not a therapist anymore, but I really need your help just to understand some things because I'm so confused." Gale was rambling to a point where she felt tears streaming down her face.
Dominique reached her hand out to her, "It's okay, Gale. You can talk to me."
The simple touch calmed her slightly and she took a deep breath, "You know that I've been working with Patrick and I found out why he broke up with me. His father didn't like me because of the type of girl I was. Also, he told him that if he didn't break up with me; he would pull all his money and pretty much leave us broke. I just couldn't believe it."
Dominique nodded, "Were you content with the reason that he gave you in the beginning?"
Gale blinked for a minute looking over at Dominique, "I don't know, I would have been better thinking that he didn't love me other than the fact that he was a coward."
"Gale, be honest, you weren't happy with that reason either. It tore you apart."
"Yes it did, but, am I not worth whatever money he has? I mean Patrick is smart and driven, so am I; couldn't we both build what we had together. Yea, it would have been hard but we would have been together and everything would have been different."
"I understand, really I do. There was a lot of mistakes that he made, but the important part of this is to still forgive him for it."
"Yea I know, I know. It's for my benefit more than his." Gale said rolling her eyes.
"Yes, because you didn't forgive the first time and it turned you into a bitter woman. I know that it hurts for someone you love to say those things to you and I'm sure he regrets it everyday. You have to forgive him and he has to forgive himself. Now after that's done, then the both of you can move forward. I'm not saying that you will be together but whatever becomes of it will be good for the both of you."
Gale sighed, sitting back in her seat, "I don't know about this. I mean I know that you are right, I really do, but there is just so many thing I want to say to him and I'm angry but at the same time..." she trailed off.
"Gale, do you still have feelings for Patrick? I can't after all this time."
"It's okay to admit; just because you have feelings for him doesn't mean that you have to get back together with him. Sometimes, what you are going through can be held back emotions and once you release them, then it will become clear if these are romantic feelings or you just holding in emotions. The most important thing is don't let this make you bitter."
"I don't even know how to make this work or if I can talk to him. I know the reason but I still feel like asking why." Dominique sighed, "I'm sorry Dominique, I know the reason, but it's so hard to believe."
"Wasn't it even harder to believe that he stopped loving you?" Gale looked down at her fidgeting hands, "Any reason that he gives you is not going to sound logical because of everything you two shared with each other. That's the thing with us women we know the reason but we always want to know the extent of the why. Then we try to make it out like maybe there was something wrong with us. When you think like that, it does make you bitter and hardens you. For right now, you still have to work with him, so tell him how you feel and start fresh."
"What if unloading everything makes me bitter?"
"It won't. The best thing for you to do is tell him how you feel, leave him with right now you are fine, and start over."
"You really think this will work and how soon should I do it."
"I know it will work and as soon as possible just don't let anything get in your way of making it successful." Gale nodded.
She was took a deep breath as they both turned to the doorbell. Dominique was about to get up when Gale beat her too it.
"You stay, I'll get it." Gale said.
"Thank you. I wasn't expecting anyone but a delivery." Dominique said sitting back.
Gale opened the door and for a moment she forgot to breath, "Hey sis...you're not my sister in law." The tall captivating man said staring at her.
"Um, no I'm a friend of hers. You must be Nik's brother?"
"Yea, I'm Gianni. I was actually coming to check on Dominique."
"I don't need you to check on me every hour Gia!" Gale smiled moving to the side letting him walk in.
"Have I told you how much I hate it when you call me that?" he said walking into the living room.
"You have and that's why I'm the only one that can call you that." She smiled, "I'm fine seriously. If I don't have you coming by, I have Nik calling every 30 minutes, my Aunt Crystal and your mom, and my mom calling every hour. Not to mention my brother popping up too."
"Hey, this is your first kid. As a member of the family we have every right to make a fuss over you and check on you. Besides, what else do I have to do?" he said sitting on the edge of the couch next to Dominique.
"How is the club going?"
"Oh, I'm just waiting a couple more papers to sign and then get ready for opening. I just left from the building."
"Club? What club?" Gale said standing in the living room doorway.
"Gianni is starting a jazz club around here." Dominique beamed.
"Oh I love jazz. Will there be live singers?"
"Yep, some friends of mine that's helping me find some. You should drop by when I start it, you can be my personal guest." He said smiling.
