Collateral Security
I met Steven at a campus party about a year ago. For him, it was love at first sight. For me it took a bit longer. He proceeded to romance me until about two months ago, he proposed and I accepted. My mother is thrilled. She started planning the wedding, and has already spent more on preparations than I would have budgeted for the wedding and the honeymoon. There is no obstacle she cannot surmount with my father's money. My father on the other hand sat me down and asked me to seriously think about this. Steven seems to have the hair on the back of his neck seriously disturbed.
When I moved in with Wayne three years ago, my father just shrugged and told me to have fun. When that broke up and I later moved in with Adrian, he said "OK, I like Adrian, he is a nice guy." When I broke up with Adrian he shrugged. When I moved in with Steven three months ago, he asked me why Steven? Was I sure Steven was the right guy? Has he explained how he can afford the fancy stuff he has?
Being a stubborn bitch (Wayne's words) I said I had it all under control. But I did start wondering a bit about Steven. I accepted his proposal, but underneath, I wondered if dad was right about him. He works for a Volvo dealership. I see his take home pay, and I wonder at times how he has so much cash. He always has an excuse. Won at poker. Sold some shares on the stock market (though I have never seen any evidence of a brokerage account.) A gift from an aunt. Always credible, but as time is going on, his 'luck' seems to be a bit unreasonable.
Wednesday Steven comes home from work. "Jane, we are going out on Friday night, get yourself a new dress, something short and sexy. Something that perks your breasts up. I really want to show you off, and I want every guy at the party to be jealous of me."
"Great, what's the party?"
"It is a party by a guy I've done some business with, and he invited us. He said he wanted to meet you."
"Someone I know?"
"No, someone I have done some work for."
So, I assume it is someone from the Volvo Dealership, though Steven is in purchasing. But he could have sourced some hard-to-find parts or something for a customer.
Steven digs out $500 cash and gives it to me. "Remember, I want you to be seducing every male with in miles."
My friend Laura and go shopping on Thursday and I choose a sexy bra to hold up my 36D's and a tight white shirt with a short tartan skirt. It is short enough that if I bend over, they will see my panties so we spend an hour debating panties and I select a lacy panty that is almost see through. Then she persuades me to get waxed, just in case, we don't want stray hairs disturbing the scenery.
Steven loves the combo. Though he unbuttons two more buttons than I would have. That exposes the edges of the bra. He has me bend over to ensure that someone sitting in front of me will get a nice view of my breasts. He would have asked me to go without a bra, but I have quashed that desire several times. Comfort decrees that I wear a bra. I need the support. I am not one of those lucky girls who can burn her bra.
Friday comes and we drive into a wealthy district. The houses are all huge and occupy lots as big as the blocks in our district. There are probably 20 cars parked out front, so we park and walk back to the house.
My first shock is the two guys at the door are armed. I am not fond of guns or gun culture. It makes me nervous. However, once inside we are met by a young man who greets Steven and is introduced to me as Mark. He takes us to the den where we are introduced to an older man.
"Steven, glad you could make it. Is this your fiancΓ©?"
"Yes, this is Jane. Jane this is Mr. Amato, he is the man I have done some business with."
He stands and shakes my hand. "Jane, you are a sight for sore eyes. I hope we will be seeing more of you here at my humble abode."
"Thank you, sir, it is a very nice home."
"Nothing compared to what I had back in the old country."
"And where is that?"
"Sicily, my dear, Sicily."
After that Mark escorts us back to the main room, and I realize that Mark is carrying a gun. Just a bit more discretely. We are given a tour of the main rooms, and in the basement, there is a large games room, with several couches.
"Jane, I suggest you make yourself comfortable. I am afraid I need to take Steven to discuss some business." With that I am left in the games room. I do not know anyone. I wander about looking at the things in the room, then find a place on a couch.
"Hi, you look lost. My name is Maria." She is tall dark hair and dressed in an evening dress that would be suitable for the red carpet. I feel a bit under dressed beside her. She sits down next to me.
"Hi, I am Jane. I don't know anyone here, my fiancΓ© is upstairs talking to Mark."
"Oh, I doubt that, they are probably already off on the job they are doing tonight."
"Oh, Steven did not mention any job."
"Ah, Steven, the new driver." She looks at me again differently. "So, you are his security collateral."
"What?"
She looks at me. I must look really confused. "When a new guy is brought onto a crew the boss wants them to leave someone at the party who the new guy will want to come back for. That is an assurance that they won't skip with the money."
"I don't understand, Steven is a purchasing agent for the Volvo Dealership. He is not a driver."
"Oh sweety, that is just his day job. Here he is a driver. A well-paid driver."
"I still don't understand."
"You can ask him about it when they get back. I shouldn't be the one to tell you." Then she stands up and turns to leave, then turns back. "Come I will introduce you to one of the other crew member's girls."
