I woke with a splitting headache, and rolled out of bed grumbling to myself. Fucking lockdown. A drink. I need a fricking drink.
Eyes bleary, I made my way to the kitchen. Not realizing until I was halfway through the doorway, that I heard voices. Murmuring, whispers. My eyes snapped open.
"What the FUCK??!?!?!" I started, dumbfounded. Angelica yelped, and jumped off of Ish's lap, hastily tugging down her skirt as she blushed furiously.
Ish looked briefly surprised before he guffawed, reaching over to grab a cooling mug of coffee off the table.
Angelica was dressed for work. Her job was still making them come in, it apparently being essential for office drones to be in the office to crunch numbers. Her curly blond hair was up in a high ponytail, and her brown eyes were carefully made up. Her lips were their usual classy, understated tone; but so full that I couldn't look at them without thinking inappropriate thoughts.
The lipstick was clearly smudged, and her face wasn't just blushing from embarrassment. I saw the sweat and... the passion.
Ish laughed again. "Sorry, man. Didn't expect you to be awake so early this morning." I glanced belatedly back at him, his white teeth flashing in his dark beard. He was shirtless, but mercifully pantsed. Or at least wearing a pair of basketball shorts. I jerked my eyes away, disgusted. He was clearly, intensely aroused beneath the thin shorts.
I finally let out an embarrassed laugh myself, my ears burning. "Jesus christ guys, haven't you ever heard the phrase "get a room?""
I stepped over to the full coffeepot, trying not to look at Angelica as I did. "How long has this been a thing?"
She laughed, sounding deeply embarrassed herself. "Uhm... three weeks?"
I doctored my coffee. "Oh, uhm... good for you guys. So... you gonna start sharing a room? We could save a lot of money with a fourth roommate."
I looked at her, as I heard Ish take a long slurp at his own drink behind me.
She seemed apologetic, her eyes almost pleading. I got the feeling she realized that I had a crush on her a mile wide. "We... hadn't thought that far ahead. I guess we could, ah..." she grabbed her travel mug and her bagged lunch. "Maybe we can talk about it tonight? See you all!"
She rushed out, before I could really reply. Ish called a farewell, and she yelled her own back.
I waited a second after the door slammed. "What the fuck, dude. I told you I liked her."
He didn't look at me. "What are we, 12? You've known her for four years and never said anything. It just sort of happened between us."
