"Demons, being creatures of chaos from the elemental planes of evil, are by nature lazy, vicious, and temperamental. Demonic society is centered around the deprivation of pleasure. The strong subjugate the weak and take delight in tormenting their subordinates. Simple pleasures like eating, drinking, and rest are denied them. This is why Demons are eager to obey a summons to the Prime Material plane of Earth; even though our world is relatively cold, strange, and they are likely to be bound to a human master, they know in this world they can actually experience pleasures."
Cassie ran her finger down the yellowed parchment of the book, the overly complicated illumination forcing her to read slowly. Her mentor, Ballahrim, had let her borrow this old guide to help her make her decision. She was fast mastering her last cantrip. Once she had mastered the Twelve, she would be eligible to join the ranks of the Ascended magic users. And at that ceremony, she would have to choose a minion. What she chose would forever shape the path her magic would take. She read on.
"This then, is how you control a Demonic minion. On the one hand, you must somewhat cater to their desires. Allowing the minion access to food and drink, especially fresh meat and alcohol, earns their loyalty. Providing them with physical pleasures, most chiefly sexual pleasure, is considered a high treat for them. Demons are often intensely heterosexual; a common punishment on their plane is then to deny them access to the opposite sex. The myth that demons prefer homosexual encounters is more based in the reality that they will forcibly rape their own gender to vent their frustrations. The stronger and more powerful your minion, the more you will have to attend to satisfying their carnal needs."
Her chocolate brown eyes kept shifting down to the illustration at the bottom of the page. All of the pictures in this tome were hand drawn, with an incredibly fine, detailed hand. Though they were just ink drawings, they were so well rendered they almost moved on their own. The image on this page was of a succubus demoness being sexually taken from behind by her Sorcerer. He was grabbing her wings, a pair of batlike appendages not quite large enough to be useful, and was cruelly pulling back on them for leverage as he thrust into her. The look on his bearded face was a sneer of lust; her face was an anguished moan.
The old ones were a sexist, horny bunch of old goats
, she thought as she studied the image. You could imagine the servant's long, wild hair moving as she whipped her head back as he slammed his cock into her, exerting his dominance.
Every reference in this thing to a master is a He, never a She. Is this thing older than equal rights, then?
She turned the page, angling the book to catch the lamp light. The one thing that truly sucked about being in a castle, learning magic, was the lack of electricity. Modern electric circuits were routinely fried by the arcane energies practiced and developed here. So everything was old school by necessity. Books, lamps, and wood stoves, not computers, lights and microwave ovens.
The fuck is THAT?
The picture at the bottom of this page showed a hideous, fat, four armed demon seated on a throne, belly laughing. His arms held all the sins: a leg of meat, a bottle of rum, a lit cigar. His fourth hand was entwined in the hair of a woman kneeling between his legs. Though you could only see her from the waist up, and from behind in the drawing, the implication that she was blowing the demon was clear.
Ah, because of course THAT'S what happens in the old days when a woman tries to control a minion. Jokes on them, if the stories I've heard are true. A number of male wizards have had to play the trombone, or worse, when their demons got the better of them. So what's this say here then..?
"On the other hand, control over a Demon must be established harshly and repeatedly. You cannot reason with a Demon or make bargains with them. They understand only power and command. It is critical that you often exert your authority over your minion, making it clear that you are in charge. A lack of punishments or tasks is taken to be a sign of weakness. Demon minions will often test their limits, exploring for weakness to exploit in their masters. A weak willed Sorcerer attempting to control a powerful Demon may soon find himself the servant, attending to ever increasing demands."
Her hand strayed down to her lap as she read. Novices always had to share their rooms with another, in part to prevent too much privacy for just this type of research. But for now she was alone, in her room at her desk. She kept looking at the image. It was almost hypnotic.
That would be so hot,
she thought.
I'd have a big, hulking demon, and not just get to fuck with him, but it would be expected. And every so often, he just might turn the tables. Make me his bitch, just for a night. Then I'd get some payback..
"Demons are a lot of work, and a constant headache. But having one as a minion has powerful benefits. They are protean creatures, able to change their own forms with varying precision. Succubi in particular are masters of shapeshifting disguise. They have the power of evocation, producing and controlling the forces of nature like fire, lightning, and darkness. A Sorcerer with a demonic minion gains access to magic characterized by Fire: fast, powerful, destructive spells."
Cassie made some notes in her private spellbook journal. She only had this book for the night, and would have to slip it back to Ballahrim's study before morning meditations. She continued on to see what the manual had to say about the second type of minion to choose from.
"Devils are in many ways the opposite of Demons. The planes where they exist are paragons of order. Brutal, absolute order. The hierarchy of Devils is legion, with orders never being questioned. Laws are of paramount importance to them. Rules are viewed as a way for the weak to be controlled by their superiors. Consequently, when dealing with a Devil, bargains are absolutely essential. You do not command a Devil by force, but rather enter into a negotiation with them. Devils are eager to leave their plane as well, in order to further themselves with status and increase their standing in the hierarchy. "
