Felix was a very pretty cat. He had white paws, and a white muzzle with black classic markings on a gray and brown ticked background that flowed and shifted beautifully with his long fur. But he was also an insufferable brat.
I could have sworn that I locked him out of my office, but then I could've sworn that the previous two times as well. Yet when I turned around from digging in my filing cabinet, there he was. Again. Sitting smugly on my keyboard having deleted all of my hard work for the third time that day.
I slammed the files down on my desk and scooped up the furball who immediately curled into my soft chest and started purring. Choking back a scream of outrage I stalked off towards my bedroom as I scolded, "Listen you little two bit road kill, I didn't want to bring home my work either. But I had to, and I'd be able to get it done faster and enjoy more of the weekend with you if you'd stop your bullshit."
I dropped the boneless pile of fluff onto my bed and glared at him as I ordered sternly, "Now stay!" Then I backed out of the room keeping my glare on him the whole way to make sure he stayed put as I firmly closed the door.
I stomped my way back to my office and made sure that door was closed as well before plopping back into my seat.
I had been saving often and in various hidden nooks on my computer so it was only about ten minutes work to find the most recent backup that the little hellspawn hadn't found some way to corrupt.
But before I could get to work on that a notification showed up from my boss;
Big Boss - Alice, we need that presentation by six.
I groaned, burying my face in my hands, wishing that the honey colored hair that fell around my face like a curtain could cut me off from the rest of the world. No such luck, as the loud, surprisingly deep yowls that started issuing from just outside my door could attest.
I lifted my head and gave one futile attempt at getting some quiet at least as I yelled back, "Shut up Felix!" That only seemed to encourage him though as he instantly started demon yowling louder.
With a sigh I turned on and up some music to drown him out and got busy redoing and finishing the thrice damned presentation.
I'd gotten the blasted thing finished and sent off by five, but I had to skip lunch and my usual afternoon cocoa to do it, so no way in hell was I happy with the brat that had been yowling outside my door the whole time. I have no clue how he hadn't lost his voice, with as long as he'd kept it up.
I threw open the door and stared at him in disgust as he switched to innocent kitten mode and started twining about my legs while purring. And when he tried to jump into my arms I expertly caught him and dropped him straight back to the floor as I snarled angrily, "I would've been done hours ago if not for you."
After shutting my office once more I stormed off to the kitchen to get us both some supper.
After my second bowl of cereal I was feeling much calmer, so I made myself a cup of cocoa and went out to watch tv. He of course joined me on the couch, kneading my chest and rubbing his head on my chin while purring his fool head off.
Petting him I grumbled, "I love you too. I just..." I sighed and moved my hand to the top of his head to keep him from nuzzling the hot beverage as I sipped at it and almost forgot that I was angry with the adorable furball.
A few hours later and I was ready to fall into bed, so I did. Completely naked and with the air conditioner set to money saver mode, I didn't even need a sheet for cover as I grabbed a pillow and curled up.
Felix joined me, his butt set into the curve above my generous hip and his head resting just under my armpit. I sighed sleepily and draped my arm over him as I finished my thought from earlier, "I just wish that we could communicate properly." Felix purred loudly at that, as if he could understand.
