Due to the number of abbreviations, ship listings, and list of characters, in this story, I include a glossary that is now in a stand-alone chapter called
'All That Glitters: Notes'
. Any and all information that you want or need to know about the series is included in Notes. It will be updated frequently simply by re-issuing the chapter to Literotica.
There is little attempt to explain the back story, so it is necessary to read previous chapters to fully understand where we are.
As before, I claim sole responsibility for the story line. This story is a fantasy, with no basis in reality. Any similarity that you may perceive to current events, people, or situations real or imaginary is completely unintended. Look no further than the story line for its intent and purpose.
A big shout out to SaddleRider and my other editors, who wish to remain anonymous, for all their help.. With their guidance, I'm making fewer and fewer errors. If you find any errors still left in this chapter, they are mine, as I have ignored sage advise to make a silly point.

ShemetAr, The Dalagent System, Eighty-Six Light Years from Asocar, The Asocan Realm
Martte Unaayel met with the person she had been waiting for. He and his group had taken more than six days to arrive at ShemetAr.
Martte Unaayel rose into space in a shuttle to meet the representative of the force she had agreed to fund and to legitimize as part of her future fleet. She had called in a lot of favours owed to her to allow her off the planet for this meeting.
"Welcome, Martte Unaayel," she was greeted by the representative as she stepped aboard their ship.
The ship was unlike any Djinaëte ship she had ever been on, much smaller and much rougher looking, especially the crew of the ship.
"You have read the contract?" Unaayel demanded.
"We have, and we accept your proposal. You now have a fleet at your disposal, Martte Unaayel.
Unaayel smiled at that. As confirmation to her commitment, she opened three chests that she had brought with her. They brimmed with gold and gems. She saw smiles all around the ship as the crew looked on the treasures in those chests.
Unaayel was happy to give up such a paltry sum. After all, she would soon have the riches of the entire Asocan realm at her disposal. She would finally attain the position she had been destined for since birth. She would be Asoc...

Raymond woke to feel someone stroking his lower back. He rolled onto his back and glanced over to his left to see the open eyes of Joyce.
"I will be leaving today," she whispered.
"Why?" Raymond asked. "Aren't you and Alya scheduled for the next week?"
"Yes, but it is obvious that you two are becoming an item. I want to give Alya a chance at love. She has had such a hard life filled with many disappointments. She deserves a shot at happiness," Joyce explained.
"Joyce, you silly woman," Alya's voice came from the other side of the bed. "Raymond is a guest here, too. The two of us can go to his room and give you this one. You don't have to leave on my account, though I think your reasoning is sweet."
"You're going to have to tell him," Joyce said, looking over Raymond chest at her friend.
Raymond turned to catch the look of annoyance on Alya's face. The look finally softened and then turned pensive. Eventually, she nodded to her friend.
"Raymond, Alya is from New Anglia," Joyce explained. "She witnessed the destruction of her home city and the death of almost everyone she knew. She still has nightmares about it. Those nightmares have destroyed all of the relationships she has been in, to date."
"I know how you feel, Alya," Raymond stated. "I was from New Layton."
A shocked look crossed the face of Alya at what Raymond had just said as she sat up looking directly at him.
"I was from Coventry Rose," she quietly answered the unasked question. "I was in my last year of university when it happened. I was a volleyball player and we were coming home from the Regional Championship, which we had just won. We were less than thirty minutes from the university when an alert came over the media.
"The bus driver turned us around and we were screaming down the highway trying to get out of the danger area. We almost made it.
"I remember the bright flash of light, then the shock wave hit us. The bus was flipped over several times. I remember waking up to the sound of screaming and was in pain. So many of my friends on that bus died as we tumbled. So many more died because help could not get to us in time. I survived. I don't know how or why and sometimes I wish I hadn't." Alya buried her face into Raymond's chest and cried after her admission.
"Do you see the crest on my chest, the black lightning bolt?" Raymond asked. Alya didn't look but she nodded. "I was a member of the team that went to Planet Emporium.
"I went there with one thought on my mind. Revenge. I was off planet when it happened. All but six of the more than 400+ members of my extended family died that day. My sister Beth and five cousins that I barely know survived.
"I went to Emporium to cause havoc and get revenge for my family. I went because I knew that we were going on a suicide mission. No one expected to survive. That was fine with me.
"Imagine my surprise when I not only survived but was branded a hero. I spent ten years at an isolated mining post to regain my humanity. There was more than one time during those years where I found myself wishing to die.
"Joyce, you don't have to leave. I have my own place here at Denders. However, there is a slight problem..."
"The three women who brought your swim trunks to you," Alya said, thinking aloud.
"Not exactly, well, sort of...One of those women, the one that brought my swim shorts,"
"Gillya?" Alya asked. "The one from Hollander's World?"
"Gillaya. Yes, she is from Hollander's World and she is my bodyguard," Raymond told them.
"Why do you need a bodyguard, Raymond?" Joyce asked pointedly.
"My partner demanded it," Raymond said.
"Partner?" Alya queried.
"Business partner. The tall lady you met is Liea. The smaller lady is Kim, Liea's bodyguard," Raymond told them.
"Wait, that little woman is a bodyguard?" Joyce asked.
"That little woman once fought me to a draw," Raymond explained. "She may be tiny, but she is deadly. Anyway, the point is that those ladies are also at my villa. So you will have to deal with them."
"Wait, if Gillaya is your bodyguard, why isn't she around to protect you?" Joyce demanded.
"She is," Raymond stated. "Remember she is from Hollander's World and she is an empath. She can sense when I am in danger or when I need her. Like now."
"Why do you need her now?" Alya asked.
Before he could answer, they heard a sound at the sliding glass door leading to the balcony. The door slid open despite the fact that Alya distinctly remembered locking it. Unsurprisingly, Gillaya entered the room. What was surprising was that they were on the fourth floor!
"How...did...you..." but Alya never got more out.
"You needed me boss?" Gillaya asked.
"What took you so long?" Raymond demanded.
"Had to hide from the local security guards, Raymond," Gillaya told him. "They have stun guns to take out people they think are shady. Not sure why they would think that of me."
"I wonder," Joyce quipped. "It couldn't be that you were climbing up four floors to get into a locked room?"
Gillaya and Raymond both smiled.
"Gillaya, Joyce thinks she is a third wheel between Alya and me. She was willing to give up her room and the rest of her vacation for her friend," Raymond told his bodyguard.
"Unnecessary," Gillaya stated. "Still, I like her. She would do that for a friend. I assume that means you want me to vacate your room so that you can bring Alya back to the villa?"
