The next day started off with Elsie bathing the kids and sitting me down at the table. I poured up a glass of tea with ice out of the freezer box on the refrigerator. It was the damnedest thing I believe I ever saw. What's next, I wondered?
I thought it was about time to go get the dogs. JT had the cook keeping them for me until I got settled. The kids have been asking about them. Truth be told, I missed that gyp, too. I decided to fence in the yard. Can't have dogs running loose about town, and that gyp will bite the pure shit out of somebody.
Elsie poured her some coffee. Mama came down with the baby. That reminded me that I had a chore to do. Build that little corral out on the porch, or deck, or whatever the hell it's called.
Elsie poured her coffee and sat down.
"I need to get the kids signed up in school. So, you need to carry us down to the school house."
I nodded. That brought something else to mind. I need to get Elsie one of them Ford motor cars. I'll go over to the place that sells them after we get the young'uns in school.
She got up and scrambled a bunch of eggs, fried sausage, made grits, and baked a batch of cat head biscuits. The finished it off with cream gravy.
Damn, but that little gal could cook.
We all ate. I held the baby and played with him while her and mama did the dishes.
She changed clothes and loaded the kids up in the back of the truck. Off we went. We pulled into the school house lot and she took them in. A little while later, she was back.
"I need to go to the food store. Speaking of which, we got most of an acre. I want you to dig up a garden spot."
I nodded and headed for the store JT showed me. They sold groceries and hardware. Parking, we headed in. She picked out her groceries and I went to the back wall and got a shovel, spade, rake and hoe. Thinking, I remembered I needed a hammer and saw, too. We paid out. The man that run the place introduced himself, sticking out his hand,
"Henry Perkins."
I shook his hand.
"Jacob Flannery, my wife, Elsie."
"Pleasure to meet you both. Just to let you know, I can set you up a tab and we do deliver, in case you need it."
"Thank you, sir, but I reckon I always pay cash on the barrel head."
He just smiled and nodded,
"Well, welcome to Galveston. I look forward to seeing you again."
Then I headed to the Ford house. When we pulled in, Elsie just looked over at me.
"Why'd you stop here?"
"To get you one of them Model A Fords. You need a way to get around in case I ain't around."
She just stared at me slack jawed.
"Are you serious? A new motor car?"
"Yep, all your own."
We went in and was met by a man introducing himself as Jerry Fleming.
"What can I do for you folks today?"
"We want one of those Model A's yonder."
His smile got bigger and brighter. He looked at Elsie's swollen belly.
"I've got just the one for a growing family."
He led us over to the one of choice.
"This is a station wagon. Manila Brown. I tell you, it's got all the room in the world."
I looked at Elsie. She turned to the dealer,
"Can I sit in it?"
"Certainly!"
He went and opened the door for her. She got in and scooted around, settling in. She fiddled around with the levers and knobs, smiling all the while. She got out and came to me.
"I like that one."
I turned to him,
"We'll take it."
We went to his office and filled out the papers. I wrote a check for the $675, handed it to him. He got up, went out and pulled it out, held the door for her again, and we were off once more.
Elsie was following me when I saw a big truck like I've never seen before. It was parked at a store and some men were unloading stuff from the big box on the back where the bed was supposed to be.
I pulled in and went back to Elsie and told her to go on home. Then I walked over. I was eyeing that thing over when the driver came and spoke to me.
"She's something, ain't she?"
I nodded, "Yes sir, she truly is. What is it?"
"That is a 1930 Kenworth freight truck."
It was different than the trucks JT used to haul equipment. Looking at it gave me an idea. I thanked the driver and went home. I needed some pussy to clear my head and some time on deck with a glass of tea to think more on my idea.
I pulled in the driveway and went inside. Elsie was holding the baby. He was growing fast. Soon he'd be up and walking. Samuel. That was a good name. It had a biblical sound of sorts to it.
Mama came over with a glass of tea. I slid my hand under her dress along the inside of her thigh. I could feel the heat from her unclad pussy. Her breath caught in her throat.
