Hello everyone! if you're a returning reader, i want to say thank you and I'm sorry. the last year has been... challenging to say the least. In between being such for half the year, and dealing with the trauma of my cat dying suddenly, i went through one major surgery (8 hours on the table) and one minor surgery (2 hours). the second one took a surprisingly long time to heal from. I'm still sick, but I'm trying to press on.

For those wondering, Sapphic Chrome will return shortly and the long awaited epilogue for WildSpace is in the works.

Oh, side note, this story is very sappy... just the mood I'm in these, so just a warning lol

enjoy!

It has been ten years since Emma had seen her twin brother, Edward. As children, they were inseparable. Even with them being fraternal twins, they still dressed similarly and even spoke in unison. Their connection seemed uncanny and even a bit unnerving to people outside the family. As they grew up, all of that changed. Shortly after their twelfth birthday, Edward withdrew from his family, much to the chagrin of his twin Emma. He would spend hours in his room, all alone, his parents saw that this gave him a sense of peace and mostly left him to his own devices.

He would spend hours and hours surfing the internet, playing online games, and masturbating to porn (typically, lesbian themed porn). He seemed addicted and insatiable. While he fell into isolationism, Emma would become more and more outgoing. Joining the volleyball team, and excelling at it, becoming a star player. While she was popular and happy with her large group of friends, she always wished she could still be close to her twin, but it seemed impossible. She never let go of that feeling of connection, but she couldn't maintain it due to Edward's reluctance and self imposed isolation.

Shockingly, when they were fourteen, Edward came out to his family as transgender. His brain was female, while his body was, unfortunately, male. His parents, as per usual, were accepting and understanding, causing them to go into action. Getting Edward into therapy to assist him in his struggle seemed to be beneficial, but his reluctance to speak out made it difficult for them. After a year in therapy, and seeing a specialist doctor, he started on puberty blockers (just in time), and cross sex hormones.

For the next year, Edward stayed "stealth", hiding his feminizing body under hoodies and oversized t-shirts. Everything truly changed when he officially came out, in order to live his life as a girl by the name Katie. While she dealt with bullying and ridicule from schoolmates, Katie would excel, being top 1% grade wise and graduating with honors. She chose to go two hours away to the major university where she earned a full scholarship. While Emma stayed close to home to attend a local community college getting her degree.

Katie graduated with honors, again, and got a job with a multinational corporation and climbed the ladder of success as far as she could in a few short years. Her success and busy work life left no time for socializing or even to visit her family, much to Emma's dismay. She thought her twin was lost to her and they would never reconnect again. While Emma struggled to afford her life as a low level accountant, Katie recently moved into a huge, luxury apartment in a high rise. While she worked very hard, she had the apartment, car and life to match it. Seemingly having it all.

With her income, she was able to fast track a couple of her transition surgeries for facial feminization and breast augmentation. She also decorated her body with beautiful and colorful tattoos, and a "unique" hair style; half of her head is shaved, and the other is dyed purple with pink ends. She was trying to plan for her gender affirmation surgery, but recovery would take a lot of time that she didn't have at the moment.

Now, after a decade of being estranged and having next to no communication, one day, out of the blue, Emma emailed Katie asking her if she would be up to have lunch and possibly reconnect. Katie's email was short and to the point.

Let's do it.

Emma found herself to be nervous that Katie would just dismiss her, and it would be a very uncomfortable meal. Their lives were in drastically different places and she thought it possible Katie would think she's too good for her own sister. Regardless, she truly wanted to reconnect with her and at least be friends again. She had no doubt it could never be like it was when they were kids, but having a relationship with her was all she could hope for. Having felt as though she missed out on a lot not having her twin in her life, made her sad.

After a few hours, Emma began to see the city rising in the distance and swallowed hard. Her nervousness grew even more intense. Would Katie turn her away? Would she embrace her? Anything other than friendship would be... heartbreaking.

High in the skyline, on the seventeen floor, Katie sat in a chair and stared out over the city sprawl. Her thoughts wandered to her twin, who was on her way to her. She spent hours cleaning her apartment, even though she had a cleaning service once a week. She spent an hour picking just the right outfit, that would tell her sister all she needed to know about who she was now as an adult. She felt... anxious, more than nervous.

As the time for her sister to arrive got ever closer, Katie stood before a large mirror in her bedroom, straightening her blouse and checking her makeup. She was so happy with the results of her surgeries and she finally felt she was her true self. She took a deep breath and slowly let it out.

"I can do this..." she said to herself.

BUZZ!

The door alert startled her.

"I can't do this!" She said and hurried to the intercom panel by her front door.

"Yes?"

This is Carl at the front desk, you have a visitor by the name of Emma.

"Thanks Carl, send her up." Katie replied. "Okay, here we go..."

She checked and rechecked her appearance in the mirror, anxiously waiting for Emma. Several minutes later, a knock at the door caused Katie to jump again. Taking a deep, calming breath, she approached her door. She settled herself and opened it. Before her was a young woman she really didn't know and barely recognized. Emma wore a long, calf-length shirt, a satin tunic and an overshirt. Her hair was long, shoulder length and professionally colored auburn. She had deep brown eyes and full lips, painted dark fuchsia.

"Hey Emma." Katie said, unsure exactly what to say or do.

"H- Hey Katie." Emma stammered. The appearance of her sister... shocked her. She never saw anyone who looked like her before, except for in TV and movies. Katie wore a short black skirt, low black heels, a sleek, sleeveless blouse unbuttoned probably one to many buttons. Her arms and legs were covered in intricate, colorful tattoos, and from what Emma could see, so was her chest. (Which had obviously been augmented at some point). Her half shaved head with purple and pink hair on the other half also felt unusual to her, but seemed to fit Katie just fine.

"You look... great." Emma finally said with a smile.

"So do you." Katie replied. Their nervous awkwardness was apparent to both of them.

Finally, Katie opened her arms, Emma took a beat, but eventually embraced her sister. After, Katie gestured for Emma to come in and sit on her large couch.

"Please, come in." She said with a genuine smile.

Emma entered and looked around at the 15 foot high ceilings, the massive great room and the floor to ceiling windows. The entire place seemed oversized, at least bigger than it needed to be to her eyes and senses. She nodded, acknowledging Katie's impressive abode, and turned back to her.

"This place is... amazing!" She declared. "You've done quite well for yourself."

"I do... okay." Katie blushed. Her darkly painted lips curled into a smile.

"More than okay!" Emma laughed, exhaling some of her anxiousness.

Katie smiled as she picked up a tray from the kitchen counter and joined Emma on the couch. The tray had a bottle of wine, two glasses and a charcuterie board.

"Let's have a little something before we go to lunch, if that's okay." Katie said, pouring each of them some wine.

"That sounds lovely, thank you." Emma replied, picking up a glass. She tried hard not to stare at the striking appearance of her sister, but she couldn't deny, she is stunning.

"How was the drive? I had hoped it wouldn't be too bad seeing as it's midday." Katie said, taking a drink from her glass.

"Huh?" Emma was distracted by her sister's appearance. The hair, the tattoos, her large chest, she was just so... different than she had assumed she'd be. She thought she'd see a little of Edward in her, but she could find any remnant of her twin brother. Just this... beautiful woman. "It wasn't bad at all. Pretty light traffic, too, to be honest, for a Saturday."

"Yeah, I think all the sports ball teams are out of town this weekend." Katie replied.

"You're funny!" Emma exclaimed. "You never were into sports growing up. You never came to any of my volleyball games in high-school."

Katie frowned, "I- I'm sorry Emma, to be honest, I used to have a great deal of social anxiety and agoraphobia. The crowds freaked me out, plus I was bullied... a lot."

Emma put down her glass and gently gripped Katie's arm. "Katie? I... I didn't know any of that, I just thought you didn't like to go see me. If I had known-"

Katie waved off her apology, "It's fine, really."

"No, it's not. I used to be so mad at you for not coming, and now I'm mad at myself for feeling that way." Emma said.

Katie looked at her sister, she felt her kindness, compassion and regret, and smiled.

"After I came out it got really bad. I had like one friend, and even then, I couldn't rely on them for much."

Emma inched closer to her and put a comforting hand on Katie's back, giving it a gentle, comforting rub. "Still, I wish I had known, I would have made more of an effort to be a sister and be there for you when you really needed me."

"It's okay, I had felt alone most of my life." Katie said, staring down at her half drank wine glass.

"Wait, you felt alone... even when we were kids and always together?!" Emma asked, surprised at this revelation. Seeing her successful sister suddenly so vulnerable was surprising to say the least, but at all what she expected.

"Yeah, I felt like an outsider even then. I had struggled with my gender identity since I was very little. I didn't have the words for it back then, and didn't... really, until I was like ten. I didn't think anyone would understand what I was going through, so I kept it inside." Katie explained. "I thought if I had said something that early in life, you, mom, dad and Lisa would reject me."

"No no no!" Emma put her arms around her sister and pulled her close. "If I had known... and had it explained to me, I would have tried to understand. You're my sister and my twin, I could never reject you for being your authentic self."

"You know, I really appreciate that Em." Katie said, patting her arm.

"You know, I never asked her, how did Lisa handle all this?" Emma asked, referring to their younger sister.

"You know her, she's very accepting of everyone, and open minded. We sat down right before I went away to college and told her everything. The changes I was going through at that time confused her, but she never said anything directly to me about it, she just went with it. She was like 'whatever' and gave me a big hug." Katie chuckled. "She didn't really get it when I first started presenting as Katie, she just rolled with it."

"That's wonderful, she's such a good person." Emma replied, releasing her sister from her hug. "Probably the best of us."

Katie nodded in agreement.

"Do you still talk?" She asked.

"Only about every day!" Katie giggled, pouring more wine.

"Every day?!"

"Yeah, we're really close. She used to come visit whenever she had a break at school. We would just hang out, go to a show or dinner, and have a great time." Katie explained.

"Wow!"

"Yeah, since she graduated she visits way more often. You know she lives on the far west side, right? You likely drove by her neighborhood on the way in." Katie said.

"I honestly wasn't sure where she was these days." Emma replied. "Mom always said she just floats around, wherever the wind carries her."

"She lives in a sort of artist commune at the moment, but I'm trying to get her a job. If she gets it, she's going to move in with me." Katie explained.

"Wow! Really?!"

"Yep, heck, she already has a key." Katie said, "it's in the works, we just have to cross the finish line of getting her that job."

"That's wonderful that you two are so close, I'm kind of jealous." Emma said.

"Jealous, why?"

"I lost you early on in life, and Lisa a little later. Both my sisters just left. I still see mom and dad a lot, but it's not the same. I can't relate to them the way I used to relate to you and Lisa." Emma said.

"Listen, why don't we scratch the last ten years and start over? We can get to know each other and reconnect now. I know Lisa will be around, so I bet she'd be excited for the three of us to hang out." Katie suggested.

"Katie..." Emma took her sister's hands in hers and smiled. "I would be so very grateful to get to know my beautiful, successful sister all over again. I've missed you so much!"

"I've missed you too sis." Katie said softly. "I'm excited to start over!" She added embracing her twin. The two held each other in a tight, loving embrace. Emma could feel Katie's large, enhanced chest against her and swallowed hard. When they began to pull apart, Emma gave Katie a sweet kiss on her cheek.

"Katie, I love you and I am so proud of you and all you've accomplished. You have grown into an amazing, intelligent, beautiful woman." Emma said with tears in her eyes. Katie reached up and wiped away her sister's tears and smiled sweetly at her.

"I love you Em. I'm so glad you're here." Katie said in a quiet voice. "I hope..." she stopped and swallowed, turning her face away. As she reached for her wine glass, Emma put a hand on her knee.

"What do you hope Katie?" She asked her.

"I hope... we can spend a lot of time together. I really want to make up for all that we lost." Katie said quietly.

"Oh, absolutely! We can get together and hang out on the weekends, the drive wasn't that bad. We'll figure it out, plus I'm sure Lisa will meander in and I can see her as well." Emma said excitedly.

"I have a... question to ask you, and you can absolutely say no, and I would totally under-"

"Katie," Emma took her hand and held it. "Ask." She said firmly. Katie took a breath and looked into her sister's big brown eyes.

"Would you... be adverse to maybe... spending the night tonight? I thought maybe we could catch up and..." her voice began to trail off.

"Katie, of course. I would love to stay and spend time with you. It sounds fun!" She replied with a big smile. "I'll be honest though..."

Katie looked at her, waiting for a 'but'.

"I'm a little surprised you'd want me to stay over." She said,

"Why is that?"

"To be honest, we really don't know each other that well." Emma said, her expression sad and regretful.

"Em, you're my sister, of course I trust you. I would be foolish not to." Katie smiled at her. Emma embraced her and laughed.

"It's settled then!" Emma said, reaching for her glass. "To us!"

Katie picked up her glass, 'clinked it against Emma's glass and drank. She put an arm around Katie and squeezed her.

"I'll give you this, you sure know how to pick a fine wine!" She laughed. They 'clinked' their glasses again as they laughed.

"Oh!" Emma stopped and held up a hand.

"What is it?"

"I didn't bring a change of clothes."

"It's okay, I know I have something that will fit you." Katie said with a genuinely joyous smile.

"Well..." Emma took another drink, the alcohol definitely beginning to take hold. "Great! But, it might be a little big in the chest!" She laughed so hard she nearly fell off the couch. Katie caught her and laughed along with her. She set down her glass and cupped her large augmented breasts and bounced them. "I may have gone a little overboard!" She giggled.

"They look fabulous, from what I can tell. They seem to suit you quite well" Emma replied, trying not to stare.

Katie picked up her glass again, "Thank you."

"To sisters!" Emma said.

"To my ridiculous tits!" Katie laughed. They 'clinked' their glasses and drank again. They continued to chat and get to know each other all over again, when Emma paused.

"What's up Em?"

"You said Lisa has a key, she's moving in, she visits a lot..."

"Yep!"

"You know, I don't even know what she's doing these days. You said she lives in an artist commune?" Emma asked.

"Yeah, she's a freelance artist. Things used to be great and she was always busy with projects, and commissions. Hell, she had a gallery show like a year ago." Katie said.

"Wow! I had no idea."

"Yeah, things, unfortunately, have slowed down for her, and she's started to struggle." Katie explained.

"Is that why you're helping her with a job?"

"To be honest, I didn't know, at the time, that she was having a rough go. A spot came open in one of our advertising companies and I talked to her about it. That's when she told me things had gotten tough and was super grateful that I even thought of her." Katie explained.

"You said you were going to get her a job? I don't even know what you do." She said ashamed.

Katie giggled and put her hand on Emma's leg. Katie didn't notice Emma swallow nervously as she looked at Katie's hand on her thigh. "Don't be sorry, mom and dad don't really know either. I work for a multinational investment company."

Emma gave her a confused look.

"We do... a lot of things actually. We invest in and even buy other companies. I believe we're up to seventeen separate companies. Our most recent valuation was around two hundred billion if I remember correctly." Katie explained. Emma tilted her head, still a little confused.

"I work at the corporate office, my section oversees our advertising companies as well as our commercial investment branch. I'm hoping to get Lisa on in the advertising branch, she is a really stellar talent and I think it would be a great opportunity for her."

"I had no idea about any of this. You and Lisa... I'm kinda... jealous." Emma said.

"Jealous?! Oh sis, don't be. Lisa and I just never lost touch. We connected because we're both queer."

"Queer?"

"Yeah, Lisa is a lesbian. And of course, I'm trans... and also a lesbian."

"Oh."

"I helped her sign up for college, I was at her graduation, but I stayed way in the back. I helped her find her a place on the west side. I guess we just had more... in common."

"Are you an artist as well?" Emma asked.

"No, I'm not... really. I've dabbled though. Sometimes Lisa and I will take a one-off art class for fun. We usually would go to dinner after, and she would crash here. But I'm not much of an artist at all."

"Wow! If you weren't sisters, it kinda sounds like you're dating." Emma laughed uncomfortably. Katie just chuckled and took an extra long drink from her glass.

"We are." Katie paused, then burst into laughter.

"You had me going there for a minute!" Emma replied, laughing nervously.

The hours rolled by and they continued to drink and chat, it was like they were old friends catching up and being in the moment, they lost track of time. Lunch had long passed, so Katie suggested ordering in dinner. They both determined they were too tipsy to go out anyway. They consumed dinner and were on the way to finishing a second bottle of wine. Now moved to a different seating area closer to the windows off to the corner. Sitting in a pair of oversized, plush chairs they looked out over the dark, sparkling city.
