Graduation season is upon us. All of these fictional characters are over 18 years of age. My gratitude goes out to IJS0904 for graciously editing this story.

Lilly and her husband, Sam, had been winding down from a busy day by sharing some wine and watching a video. Lilly was wearing her pajama pants and a cropped black t-shirt with no bra. The video prompted a discussion on whether humans had any effect on the universal law of Karma. Lilly argued that people could, at the very least, be instruments of Karma's mandate that actions have consequences. She retold a story Sam was familiar with. He knew Lilly had been a rebellious teen while attending a charter school.
Sam listened with a smirk as Lilly related that she had aced her final exams to finish her senior year. This was not unusual in itself because she was the brightest student in her class. Still, this got her called to the vice principal's office on the last day of school. The vice principal and a guidance counselor were present to confront Lilly and accuse her of cheating.
Lilly's parents had gotten her into a charter school with a good college acceptance rating. The school promoted "family values" that Lilly didn't agree with. Part of her protest was to push the boundaries of the school's dress code. Her goth fashion rebellion utilized darkly made-up eyes, black nail polish, glossy black lug-soled shoes, and a black belt featuring upside-down white crosses. She glared at them both through her straight black bangs. The two Mormon men felt cursed by Lilly even though she didn't initially speak a word.
Lilly was asked to sit. Then the men held a long minute of silence to create more tension. Each man appraised the young beauty seated before them. The counselor's mind wandered to a fantasy he had long lusted for since first meeting Lilly. In this variant he wanted to tie her to a desk and cum on her face to streak her eye makeup. That would teach her what it was to be a real slut. The vice principal cleared his throat and scowled a Lilly. This broke the counselor's reverie. He adjusted his sports jacket to be sure his inappropriate erection was not showing.
Vice Principal Tovey scowled at Lilly, whom he saw as a rebellious troublemaker. He sat on the edge of his desk and started in. "Lilly, we have carefully reviewed your final test scores and determined it was statistically impossible for you to have gotten perfect scores on every test. You must have cheated, and therefore, you will not be able to represent your graduating class as a valedictorian.
Lilly tilted her head to the side and scowled at the men towering above her. "You two administrators don't even understand that a statistical outlier is still statistically possible."
Looking into their blank stares, she continued, "Your multiple-choice tests are so predictable that I would have a high probability of acing them without even knowing the subject matter. You do know that the answers are easy to guess?" She shook her head at the men's vacant stares.
In exasperation, Lilly explained, "Choices for every question are: one obviously wrong answer, one irrelevant answer, one answer with a shred of merit, and one answer that is obviously right. You don't teach thinking here. You only teach so that the most average students can pass the tests and maintain the school's accreditation. The real issue is that you're worried that my speech might not glorify your fine school."
The vice principal continued his prepared spiel. "It is true that we cannot prove you cheated. That is why we have not immediately expelled you before graduation." Vice Principal Tovey returned Lilly's scowl. "Furthermore, your appearance and attitude do not align with this institution's wholesome values clause, as stated in the student handbook. You may NOT, therefore, represent your class as a valedictorian."
Keeping her eye on the big picture, Lilly didn't lose her cool. She was so ready to put high school behind her and make the transition to college life. She sighed and pursed her black lips. "Uh-huh. Are we done here?"
