~~~ Rehearsal ~~~
Wendy had long ago given up her apartment and had moved in with us. She informed me that - after the rehearsal - she would be going to her mom's house (in town) for the night. The dress was already there. Sadie and Ellie would be going with her.
As we made love, the night before, she told me that she thought her little brother (Bradley) was secretly in love with both my sister and my cousin. He'd seen their pictures and was smitten. She said that he was going to be a mess at the rehearsal, the wedding, and the reception because the girls planned to tease him - not too badly - but then leave him "high and dry". I warned her that he probably wasn't going to think that was very funny.
When she suggested that maybe the two of them could give him a handjob as a consolation prize, I told her that she was playing with fire. I told her to let him know - up front - that the girls already had boyfriends and would only be dancing and carrying on with him during the ceremony and the reception and that it was over after that. She told me I was a spoil-sport.
Mom and Dad came to Grandma's a day early so that they could visit with everybody before the big event. Sadie moved into Ellie's room so that they could take over hers.
The hot tub room was, obviously, hidden away. We spent our time in the front room, visiting and passing my son (well, "Ellie's son") around.
Finally, the night of the rehearsal arrived. Aunt Sarah ended up having to get a hotel room for her and Sofia. I felt a little badly - but there wasn't much for it. Grandma and Grandpa Taylor would come for the ceremony itself and then disappear (or at least I hoped that was how it would go).
We loaded into the cars and headed off to the church. The rehearsal went well enough - which means that Wendy still intended to marry me the following day.
We went out to dinner and made nuisances of ourselves - but we had reserved a private room - so we mostly just pissed off the servers. I made sure we apologized and tipped them well.
I kissed my beautiful bride-to-be and she took my sister and my cousin and disappeared. I saw the glimpse of opportunity cross Aunt Sarah's eyes but it was quickly erased by a knowing look from my fiancΓ©e. She promised she'd only come back to the house for a bit to let me play with Sofia and then they would head to the hotel. Mom's eyes went a little sideways with that discussion but she didn't ask any uncomfortable questions.
We sat up and talked until Sofia and Alex both crashed and then Grandma and I suggested that it was time to call it a night.
After Aunt Sarah left, we visited with Mom and Dad a bit longer as I held Alex and then they turned in for the night as well. I snuck off to Grandma's room and we snuggled around our little boy and held hands to fall asleep. After his 3 o'clock feeding, I slipped back off to my room for the rest of the night.
~~~ Wedding ~~~
I don't think I ever remembered waking up, with the house as quiet as it was that morning. It might have been quiet when Grandma and I had conceived Alex - but I'd also woken up in her arms. It was the first time in a long time that I woke up with no one in my bed with me.
Mom held Alex as Grandma and I got breakfast (ours and his) ready. We gathered around the dining room table and ate together. It was really nice - and totally weird. Aunt Sarah came in and we fixed a plate for her. I held Sofia on my lap while she ate. Grandma fed my little girl tiny bites as I held her in my arms. It was fun and so amazing, watching her discover things.
I noticed my mother studying me as I held my "cousin" but I ignored her inquisitive looks and just enjoyed my time with my daughter. She'd already been walking for months, and I barely knew her.
After everyone had eaten, we moved to the front room for a bit before I needed to head for the church.
When the time came for me to leave, I kissed Sofia on the forehead and sat her next to Grandma - who immediately began playing and talking with her. I showered quickly, grabbed my things, and headed outside to see if Vera would start one more time.
I got to the church and changed into my penguin-suit. I wandered around and greeted everyone. People started arriving and I went and sat and chatted with them. When the girls from the laundry room showed up, I went and gave them shit for sitting on Wendy's side and not mine. They laughed and talked about catching me and her together that first time.
One of the girls caught Wendy peeking in one of the side-doors on the sanctuary, spying on me. When they pointed it out, I blew her a kiss and went to sit in the middle of the ladies, getting my phone out to send her a selfie of us together. The girls all leaned in to pretend like they were kissing me. She flipped us off. I got pinched on the ass a few times before I escaped. I guess that was kind of my bachelor party.
Bradley came to get me, telling me that the minister was getting antsy. I asked him if my sister and Sadie were giving him a hard time and he said 'no'. I warned him not to let them get under his skin. He said his sister was the bigger problem. He laughed when I asked him if it was too late for me to run away.
We got to our places, and I fidgeted as we waited. The minister calmed considerably, however, so I patted Bradley on the shoulder and thanked him for helping me keep the peace.
As the moms were seated, I whispered a devious plan to Bradley and he nodded and smiled.
Sofia was the flower girl. She came in with Sadie. She got distracted halfway down the aisle and Sadie had to pick her up. The two of them worked together to throw the rest of the flower petals as they came down to the front. She wouldn't stand still when Sadie tried to put her down so Sadie picked her back up and just held her.
Ellie came next. I don't think I ever remembered seeing my sister look so beautiful. Her eyes were on me and - for a bit - it felt like this wedding was for the two of us. I snapped out of it as she got closer. She was gorgeous - not that Sadie wasn't as well - but I'd been distracted by Sofia and hadn't truly gotten to appreciate how beautiful they both were in their dresses.
If I thought my sister and my cousin were gorgeous, it was nothing compared to my bride. I didn't even have to fake my mouth hanging open so wide that it rested on my chest.
Bradley stuck to the plan, though, and - as soon as everyone had noticed my face - he reached over and lifted my chin - closing my mouth back up. We got a few chuckles. Wendy shook her head at me but smiled. All was right in the world.
Her father raised her veil, gave her a kiss on the cheek, shook my hand, and then joined my hand to hers.
I turned to face the woman who had promised herself to me. The minister began to say stuff. Things got muffled and the room tilted. The last thing I saw before I passed out was a look of surprise on Wendy's face.
I woke up to find my women standing over me - Grandma, Wendy, Sadie (with Sofia), and Ellie.
"Derek?" Wendy asked.
"What happened?" I mumbled.
"You passed out," she said, shaking her head and grinning. "Did you drink any water this morning?"
"I don't remember," I admitted.
Wendy stood, picked out one of the laundry girls, and sent her to grab me a bottle of water. She ran down the aisle with it, handed it off to the bride, and went back to her seat.
Wendy sat me up and got me to drink half of the bottle and rest a moment.
"Can you stand?" she asked.
"I think so," I replied.
I did - with a little help. Wendy handed me the rest of the bottle and told me to drink it.
She turned to the audience and said, "Sorry about that. Let's try this again."
Grandma went back to her seat. Ellie, Sadie, and Sofia took their places. Bradley helped me by putting me back in front of his sister again. He got better laughs that time.
Wendy claimed the bottle from my hand, gave it to her brother, and then took my hands into hers.
She looked at the minister and said, "Go ahead."
He nodded and then picked up from the beginning again. This time, I stayed awake.
Several minutes passed as I stood and stared at my bride. We did the candle thing, we did the vows, we did the rings, and then came the big kiss.
The minister said the magic words and Wendy grabbed my face and kissed the hell out of me.
