The pandemic hit everyone hard, and Kevin was no exception. As an elderly man in his 70s, Kevin employed a full time nurse to care for him. With the sudden need for Healthcare workers, Kevin's nurse, Maria, wanted to help with the crisis and had to leave Kevin's side. An old man left alone in the middle of a global pandemic.
Luckily he wouldn't be left alone for long as his grandson, Ryan, made plans to move in and help out. Ryan was a nursing student, he was experienced with taking care of patients at the hospital so he figured he would be able to help out his grandfather. The hospital Ryan worked at went into lockdown mode, canceling teaching and only allowing authorized persons to work. Ryan being just a student was not part of that, so he was left with nothing to do and no income. Ryan made a deal with his grandfather to take over the nurse's job, it worked out well for both of them.
Kevin heard a knock at the door. He slowly moved over and opened it up to see Ryan's bright smiling face.
"Hey kiddo, is that everything?"
Ryan showed off his backpack and grinned, "Yup. That's the last of it grandpa. I'm all moved in."
Kevin moved away from the door and Ryan entered. Ryan was a tall slim guy, he enjoyed swimming and it kept him toned and fit; and also smooth as he shaved most of his body hair to cut down on water resistance. He had short brown hair and bright green eyes, he was cute in every sense of the word.
"Did you have lunch yet or do you want me to make something?" Ryan asked as he dropped his bag on the table.
"Nah I'm fine, you just got here, relax a bit," Kevin waved him off.
"Grandpa, I'm here to take care of you, remember? Go have a seat and I'll make you something."
"Alright alright," Kevin muttered as he waddled over and slouched down on his favorite chair.
Ryan glanced at Kevin as he prepared his meal. Kevin was big, short, and hairy. His t-shirt was too small so his big belly hung out over his pants. His arms and stomach were coated with a thick layer of grey hair same as his head, at least where he still had hair there. Ryan had always been attracted to older bears, and Kevin was exactly his type. Though he was his grandfather, Ryan couldn't help himself from admiring Kevin. After all, what was wrong with just looking?
Ryan brought Kevin his food and sat on the couch across from him, "So, we haven't really gone over everything yet. Tell me about your routine."
"I get up, I eat, I go to bed. That's pretty much it," Kevin replied gruffly as he ate.
"Ok... I talked to Maria a bit before she left, she gave me some idea. She said you usually get up around 7 and need some help getting out of bed, use the bathroom and then have breakfast. Then you pretty much sit in front of the TV all day till it's time to wash then go to bed around 8. That sound about right?"
"Sounds right. Real exciting huh?"
"I think we can add a little excitement to that schedule don't you? Maybe take a walk or some other activity."
"If I have the energy. Don't get old kid, it ain't kind."
"Aww you're not that old grandpa," Ryan said as he stood up and patted Kevin on the shoulder, "I'm gonna unpack the rest of my stuff in my room, let me know what time you wanna have your bath and I'll get ready," Ryan continued as he began to walk away.
"Uhh, I don't really need help with that," Kevin said quickly, "I can do that myself."
"Really?" Ryan turned back with a confused look, "Maria said you needed help washing. She said she bathed you everyday."
"Uhh.. Well, you know." Kevin muttered, "That was a little different. She was a woman and... not related," Kevin avoided eye contact.
"Grandpa," Ryan chuckled, "Come on, it's nothing I haven't done before. You hired me to do a job I'm gunna do the whole job. Just let me know when you're ready."
"Yea but..." Kevin replied but Ryan had already left.
Kevin sighed. He felt uneasy about a man touching him but the truth was he certainly needed the help. At his age and with his body being alone on a slippery floor was a recipe for disaster. Kevin only agreed to hire Ryan when he was all out of other options for this very reason. He thought Ryan would have the same reservations as him and they could come up with some sort of workaround but apparently it didn't bother him at all.
