It was seven in the morning, and Amy barely slept. The whole night she couldn't sleep due to Ashton's cries. Her baby was just three months old who didn't sleep during night, so Amy had to keep him company. He now was sleeping with his thumb inside his mouth. Seeing her son so peaceful, warmth spread within her chest. She kissed his cheek and went to the kitchen.
She padded down the stairs, and saw Uncle Eric already moving around the kitchen making eggs and sandwiches.
"Good morning Uncle Eric," Amy said and sat down.
"Amy, why are you up so early?" Eric said, coming towards her with a plate of sandwiches and eggs. "I don't think Ash let you sleep during the night. Tiny you should sleep more."
Hearing him saying her nickname made her smile. Her mother had told her she was only a month old, when her uncle saw her for the first time and named her Tiny. It's been twenty years since then, and he still called her Tiny.
He was an ex-MMA fighter, and he still made her five feet two inches self feel tiny.
"I know Uncle Eric, but I wanted to keep you company." She took a bite of the sandwich and moaned. These days she was always hungry. "You're gonna make me fat."
"Shut up. You should eat more, and you're still so tiny." He said and started to eat his eight sandwiches.
Amy smiled and they both ate their breakfast. Amy couldn't imagine how she would have managed these months, if it hadn't been for her uncle. He was there with her holding her hand when Ashton was born. Ashton's father had left her when he learnt she was pregnant. He hadn't contacted her since then.
"After this you are going to your room and sleep for five hours young lady. I will call you when lunch will be ready." He said after finishing his meal.
"Yes sir." Amy laughed and did a two fingers salute.
He smacked her butt playfully, and shooed her away.
Laughing Amy went to her bedroom and slid under the covers. She lay on her bed and felt guilty thinking how the corona virus was a boon to her. So many people became jobless and died because of it, and here she was being thankful.
At first it was decided that her uncle was going to stay for a month, but due to the virus he now had to stay with her longer. She didn't have to face the real world, and her mom who refused to talk to her after learning about the pregnancy. She also got to spend so much time with her baby.
Amy sighed. She tried to put a stop to her thoughts and concentrated on getting her sleep. She could hear her uncle moving around the kitchen, probably making something again for him.
Tears started to pool around her eyes, when she thought about the future. She and her baby were completely alone in this world. Her uncle would leave in a few months, and she would've to go college again. She needed to find a job and earn money. She couldn't depend on her uncle forever.
She looked down to see that her breasts had started leaking again. Her t-shirt had two wet spots. Ashton was asleep, and her breast pumps broke yesterday. She began crying harder.
"Amy, are you okay?"
She looked up and saw her uncle standing outside the doorway. She rubbed at her eyes furiously, and gave him a watery smile.
