It was just another hot and humid summer in South India, when Meera welcomed her college mate Nandhini into her ancestral home in Kerala. Both Meera and Nandhini were in their mid-forties by then and had planned a small summer vacation over there in order to get away from their day to day busy lives.
Meera was cad in an off white cotton sari to go along with simple jewelry. She was thin and sported a leaned frame to go on with her tanned skin whereas Nandhini was clad in a vibrant silk saree which wrapped her average build frame where curves looked prominent at the right places. Nandhini was fairer in complexion and the afternoon breeze made sure that her loose strands wandered away from her hair bun as Meera took a good look at her friend and her appearance.
"It has been quite a while since we've caught up, Meera," Nandhini said affectionately.
"I've missed our conversations, our late-night gossip sessions." She continued as she gently fanned herself with her sari pallu.
Meera smile and nodded while her eyes roamed around towards the depth of Nandhini's saree pallu and peek into her exposed midriff, rather inadvertently.
"I've missed them too, Nandhini. Life gets so busy sometimes, doesn't it?" She quipped.
Their conversation flowed effortlessly as both of them chatted about their college days, their friends, known common secrets as well as their families and careers.
As the afternoon wore on, Meera's daughter Maya arrived, clad in a simple cotton salwar kameez. She had just turned twenty and had her long, ebony hair fall loose around her shoulders and her kameez was clung to her curves perfectly.
"Welcome back, my darling, how was your journey?" asked Meera, her voice filled with warmth.
Maya's eyes sparkled as she recounted college semester days with her words painting vivid pictures as Meera and Nandhini heard her patiently while admiring her beauty.
