OUR NEW NORMAL - CHAPTER 11 -- Graduation And CHAPTER 12 -- Rules
By Slowhaands (copyright 2025)
Thanks to all that have read this. I especially appreciate those who have graded my stories and those who have commented. All comments, suggestions, and criticisms are greatly appreciated, and I hope that I am learning from your responses to help me become a better writer.
As I was mapping out some upcoming story lines it became clear I needed to revise Chapters 11 and 12. I need to introduce Lois and Clark's parents who would be attending Hermione's High School Graduation, laying the groundwork for later stories that will include Ron and Hermione's Grandparents. I am posting this as a replacement for the existing post for Chapters 11 and 12. I will leave the existing Chapters 11 and 12 on the site labeled as the Original, but remove them from the series. So, if you have already read the original Chapters 11 and 12, please understand that this revision was needed to support future chapters so I can continue with chapters 13 and 14 and further submissions for your reading pleasure.
It has taken much longer to get this republished than I expected and I apologize to all my readers for the delays. The next two chapters should drop in about 2 weeks.
With more to follow. I have at least two more installments in the works as that I hope you will all enjoy as well.
Thanks
And on with Chapters 11 and 12.
Chapter 11 -- Graduation week.
Hermione's graduation week was here. Our grandparents were arriving on Monday, the graduation itself is on Friday, and then they head home on Saturday.
Mom's parents (Rubin and Helen Schwartz) lived in Northern California. They had been married for 35 years and were still very much in love. Grandpa Rubin was the President of a small private bank in Napa that was heavily involved in the vineyards that region was so famous for. Granny Helen was a Registered Nurse in a Free Clinic that served many of the low paid vineyard workers.
Dad's parents (Joyce and Alfonse Philips) lived on the opposite side of the country. Papaw Philips was a big chicken rancher in South Carolina. He raised hundreds of thousands of chickens every year on the same land that his father had raised chickens on forty years earlier. Mamaw Joyce taught high school Math and Science for 25 years before becoming the principal of the same school that both she and her future husband attended. They had been happily married for 40 years.
Over the years, our grandparents have become good friends. They had gone cross country to vacation at each other's home, and they had taken trips together a couple of times over the years. They all got along very well with their in-laws and both our parents commented on the fact that there were no tensions between the families. So, no barbed jokes about the dreaded Mothers in Law.
Mom and Dad were taking his SUV to pick their parents up. Their flights were supposed to arrive about an hour apart. After picking up all their checked bags at baggage claim, Dad took them to their their hotel chatting and laughing and catching up. As they had on previous visits, they had connecting suites at one of the nicer suites hotels close to our house and had a rental car waiting for them at the hotel. Mom and Dad dropped them and their luggage off at their hotel. Their parents were going to get unpacked and change into comfortable clothes and then bring their suits to our house for a welcoming BBQ around the pool.
Our parents got home from the airport and we all dressed for the pool party, which was, by itself, a bit uncomfortable since we were almost never dressed at home. Gloria arrived soon after and got changed before helping Mom in prepping the sides and condiments for the steaks, shrimp, and chicken that Dad and I were prepping for the grill. The grands got in from their hotel about an hour later. Hermione and I happily fully greeted them at the door with hugs and kisses. I introduced them to Gloria. They seemed to immediately hit it off with affectionate hugs and cheek kisses. They had all been here like this over the years, most recently for my high school graduation 3 years ago, and we were all comfortable with each other. They quickly changed into swimsuits and joined us around the pool. Mom's parents gave us 4 bottles of some of the finest wines out of the Napa and Sonoma valleys. Wines that were certainly out of my league though I knew Mom and her mothers would truly enjoy those great wines. Grandpa Alfonse brought out a bottle of Willetts Bourbon and gave it to dad. I had tasted it before and really loved it.
Dad and I had the grill fired up and Mom was laying out the sides and condiments. The women, including Hermione, had wine. Dad had already brought up some fine whiskeys and started by opening the Willetts and pouring generous shots for this fathers and I. It tasted as wonderful as I remembered. Dad and I returned to our duties on the grill. Dad was good at putting the three different meats on the grill at the right time so that they all came off the grill together. I was learning, but he was still the master. For the first time, I found myself noticing how hot my grandmother's both were. That was not something that would have occurred to me before we became incestuous nudists. Hermione told me later that she couldn't help but notice how good looking her grandfathers were. Both Hermione and I were wondering how our grandparents might look naked. LaTonya arrived a little later. She had met our grandparents a couple of times over the years, so our grandparents knew that LaTonya and Hermione were best friends. I don't know if our grandparents knew that LaTonya and Hermione were lovers, but it was clear they weren't trying to hide it. LaTonya whispered in my ear that all of my grandparents were kind of hot.
Dinner was great. Everything came off the grill perfectly done and Mom and Hermione knew how to make perfect baked potatoes, Ceasar Salad, corn on the cob and other tasty treats finished off with Cherry Pie and a New York style cheesecake.
At some point, I was by the grill when Papaw Philips came up and put his arm around me. He had a twinkle in his eye as he looked out over the pool deck and then hit me with a question I was not prepared for. "Have you noticed that none of those beautiful women have tan lines?"
"I hadn't made any note of it, but it is certainly true. And that seems to include both of my grandmothers.
