CHAPTER FOUR

The Sepang International Race Circuit was brightly lit with lights.

The roars of a few the AMG C200 passed through the finished line stirred the grandstand area. I sat at one of the spectator seats looking at the opposite pit area. There were many teams took part in the race challenge organized by Hap Seng Star.

It was street and amateur racers challenge that only allowed Mercedes Benz cars to be on the track. The race was in the second event, as the cars were rushing toward the finish line marking the end of the event. My team has taken part of the event and I was here to support them.

Suddenly, there was a tap on my shoulder. I looked up as James, our team sponsor sat next to me.

"Not racing tonight...?" he asked.

"Yup, I am a little tired tonight so I told Alan that I am not going down on the track."

Before James could reply, there were a large crowd gather at a specific pit. It seemed more and more people were rushing over.

"Is it an accident?" I asked.

"Let's me go and have a look..." as James slowly walked away.

I walked toward the fence to have a look at the commotion that took place. I could see a few organizer members also rushed toward the scene.

It was then my phone rang and it was Alan, my team leader.

"Bro, where are you?"

"I am in the grandstand, why?"

"We need you help, apparently there was a professional driver team came over and challenges us?"

"But I can't help much, since I am not going down the track..."

"The team is challenging all of us. I meant they are challenging every amateur and street racer teams."

"Mmmm hmmm"

"They said that tracks are for professional drivers not for amateur or street racers. Right now they are requesting a race challenge with Faizal."

"Our Street Prince, the team is pretty arrogant. What cars are they using?"

"They have two units of C43 AMG Coupe which were professionally tuned."

"Wow... totally handicapped our cars..."

"That is why, we need you here and you are the only one that beat Faizal before. Come on bro."

"Ok... ok, I will be there."

I left the grandstand area and passed through the tunnel towards the pit area. There were more and more crowds on the pit area. I could felt the heat and intense of the situation as I walked toward my team's pit.

"So what is going on now?" I looked at Alan.

Alan pointed at Faizal's team as they were getting ready. The Street Prince's Brabus C250 was at the starting line already.

"It seemed a challenge was imminent as everyone wanted to beat them in a race," James commented.

"How many laps... the race is going to be?" I asked.

"Three laps according to one of the staff of the organizer."

Then the crowd was cheering as Faizal walked out of his pit into the track. Everyone were giving their support to Faizal as he walked pass them. Not long after, the black C43 roared onto the starting line. Their team leader was standing between both cars and made an announcement.

"We will be sending our second driver since we don't think anyone of you is qualified to race with our best."

There was a commotion from the crowd as people started to get angry by the leader comment. However, thing quiet down as both of the cars started their engines.

Then, the light turned green followed by a horn and both cars speed away from the line. It was obvious that the C43 lead the race.

"The horsepower of the car is doubled, and looked at the C43 turned the corner..." Alan said.

I nodded as I carefully observed the black car.

"Faizal driving style is too predictable and strictly followed the textbook... eventually he will left behind," I commented.

James and Alan nodded as agreement.

"Too safe..." I added.

The cars passed through the line into second lap and Faizal was about 10 seconds behind. I could see there were many worried faces in the pits. Indeed the C43 was perfectly tuned for the track race with almost no weakness. I was too cooped up with the C43 that I didn't realize all my team members already stood behind me.

"YJ... how?" everyone was asking me.

Alan looked at me and I knew what he is asking. I slowly took out my car keys and handle to Yap.

"Alright... alright. Yap please gets my car and adjusted my suspension 1.5 inch higher."

Yap nodded as he rushed out of the place.

"Hard mode as well..." I yelled at him.

He waived his hand and disappeared from our sight.

Then I looked at Alan and said "Bro, let the professional team know that I want to challenge their best driver."

"What?" Alan was shocked but our attention was diverted to the black C43 crossed the finish line first followed by Faizal's car later.

Everyone was shaking their heads.

"You see... we lost already, and you want to challenge their best."

"Yes... if not where is the fun of that..." I commented.

As Alan walked towards the organizer booth, I needed to get ready and change to a racing suit. James was following me and asked "Are you sure that you know what you are doing?"

"Well... if we don't race we will never know..."

I smiled at him and walked into the changing room.

I stood next to my AMG A250 that just tuned by Yap. I was waiting for the other black C43 to the starting line.

From the pits, many teams were cheering at me. And the roar of C43 filled the track as the car lined up at the starting line. I looked at the driver and to my surprise; the best driver of the challenger was a she. She is too stunning to be a driver instead she looked a model.

She had tied her long hair into a bum as this chinese lady looked like in her late twenties and she started to wear her helmet.

The team has accepted our request to send their best driver. Further the organizer also agreed that the race will have no rules like a street racing but just on a track. The other accepted our conditions as they already felt superior.

I nodded at the lady driver before I entered my car.

Once the light turned green, I pressed on my throttle as my car sped on the night track. Eventually, the C43 was ahead of me. The horsepower different was clearly seemed on the track especially in straight line. With a higher gravity point, it was not easy for my A250 to pass corners steadily at high speed. All I could do was to close my distance from the car ahead.

The driver in the C43 was good and skillful too as she made every corner perfectly.

"15 seconds different" Alan was on the channel as I entered second lap.

The distance from the C43 was again further after we passed through the grandstand tracks.

I steered through a few corners before I put a full throttle at T5. From that point onwards, breaking will be minimized. The car in front was further than I anticipated so I need to make my attack as early as T7 and T8. As the corner became nearer, I speed up my car even faster as I turned into the grass area to make a u-turned at T7 and T8 instead of going on the track. This made my A250 going two corners at one hair pin maneuver which is a shorter distance.

By adjusting the car to higher gravity point made it able to pass corner outside the track. The C43 was now just right ahead of me. Soon I maneuver the same feat at T9 then T11 and lastly T14. As we reached the straight track at the grandstand area, both of our cars were side by side.

After T1 on our last lap, the C43 was still ahead of me and she was panicking. Her racing line was a little off as she was trying to block me. As my car coming to T4, I needed to risk it by steering into a tight off track maneuver again. I needed to trust my A250 that it will able steered back into the track at the speed I wanted.

I looked at my speedometer, it was 110kmph. The C43 was now behind me as I sped away from her. I repeated the feat again at T9 and T11 which I had secured my challenge. Although the C43 tried to catch up on the final stretch but it was too late.

The crowd was cheering as I stopped my car in the pit.

James and Alan were clapping their hands, when I came out of the car.

"You always surprised me..." Alan said.

"You owe me one... and please asked Yap to check my car... might have lot of dirt underneath it."

"Will do... will do, bro."

"And, you better give me my break."

Alan put a thumb up at me. James smiled... "I never regret sponsoring your team. One last question, you don't afraid that the opposition will use the same feat like you?"

"They already tuned it to the track specs. If they did that, the car will spin off and out of the race. They can't risk it especially professional driver, they used to regulations."

Everyone was listening with full of enthusiasm. Then we were interrupted by the C43 stopped at our pit. The driver gave me a thumb up and I just waved at her before she drove away.

It was a tired night; I left as soon as Yap finished clearing the dirt underneath my car and ran a last check on it again. The race challenge was in the fifth event by now.

My A250 stopped by the Petronas station for refill. Suddenly, the black C43 stopped behind me. The lady driver walked toward me and she was in her blue jean and white t-shirt. Her hair was now untied and curly, definitely a model. She has mimic much of a Korean model style in her. She has an hourglass figure and she smiled at me.

"Hi..."

"Hi..." I greeted her back.

"I am Leanne. You are great on the track tonight."

"It was luck... I would say. Oh, I am YJ."

"You want to have a coffee?" she invited me.
