Soo, Nila and Maala had been in the United States for some five years but the sisters still put a lot of stock in their tribal traditions. For example, in the remote region of South East Asia, where the three sisters came from, the eldest daughter had to marry before the younger daughters could even consider it. Consequently, there was a lot of pressure on Soo, who was 24, to get a move on.
For three months she had been going out with Jacob Stillman, a young man she'd met at a party. Never having had great success with women he was completely blown away by the fact that this dusky beauty would show interest in him. She had a great figure, really knew how to dress and although they had never had sex he could tell she had a passionate side to her nature.
Poor Jake was in love and he desperately wanted to ask Soo to be his wife. One night after taking some nerve-calming medication, prescribed by his doctor, he popped the question. She immediately accepted his proposal but there was a proviso - he had to be approved by her two younger sisters.
He thought this was simply a matter turning up at the house where they lived together and making a good impression. WRONG! When he arrived he found that a bed had been moved into the middle of the living room and even though he had no idea what it was for he popped a couple of his pills.
Nila and Maala, who were also drop dead gorgeous, smiled at him and seemed to approve of his appearance. He did work out twice a week and he wasn't at all bad looking and so it seemed as though he jumped the main hurdle. WRONG!
After tea, cake and some polite conversation Soo began to explain some of their tribal traditions and the fact that he'd have to be prepared to accept them if she was to marry him. Not really understanding what was meant by that, he readily agreed.
"In our society," Soo explained, "if my sisters marry and their husbands are struck down by some illness and die they also would become your wives. "
Thinking it was unlikely that such a situation would arise he decided to go along with it, even though he thought the whole idea quite bizarre.
