"Tim?" said Markus.
And the moment he said that Amanda figured that this wasn't Tim. "Mom?" he said with a grinning smile. "Who's Tim?"
"Mom?" said Amanda turning to Alison.
"Tim?" said Alison annoyed and cautious looking at Amanda with a an expression saying, '
What are you doing, bringing that up.'
and '
Who the fuck is Tim.'
And it didn't take long before she realized she was the one who mentioned Tim.
"Who's Tim?" he asked again.
"No one." Said Amanda. "I think I'm getting my names mixed up." She laughed awkwardly.
The fact that she lied to his face. In defence of his mother was a characteristic he adored in her. "I don't think you did." He said taking her hand and smiled. "I'm Markus." He said.
"Of course. You're her son." Said Amanda, awkwardly.
"Mom?" said Markus; "Who's Tim?" he asked. "Are you cheating on dad with some guy named Tim?" he asked with a grin.
"Shut up. Sit down." Said Alison, and then turned to Amanda, "Both of you." She confirmed.
"My fiancΓ©, should be here soon, I think I'll leave." Said Amanda, not wanted to get in the bad light of Alison.
"Bitch!" said Alison, glaring at Amanda.
To which Amanda just sunk into the chair between the two. "Wow, mom!" said Markus, "Language."
"Oh shut up." She snapped and took her seat herself.
In the middle of all of this, none of them noticed that the waitress was still around. She awkwardly excused herself, "Please have a look at the menu, I'll return in a minute." She said and paced away.
The three of them didn't noticed the waitress being there until she said that. They couldn't have been more embarrassed at that moment.
"She's probably gonna make stories about this and talk about it for a long time." Said Amanda trying the break the silence.
Alison all but turned to stare at Amanda, and Markus took the opportunity to repeat his earlier question. "Who's Tim?" He asked, shifting between both women.
And when Alison turned to stare at him, he leaned towards Amanda and whispered, "Who's Tim?"
Alison knew if she was to let Markus keep going at it, something or the other might come out. "Tim is this guy, in the building, I've been talking to." She said.
"Talking to?" he repeated.
"Flirted with." Added Amanda.
"What the ff..." muttered Alison, surprised that Amanda was egging on.
"Sorry!" Reacted Amanda.
After another moment's silence. Alison noticed Amanda had her head bowed in outing her friend. And Alison took the opportunity to look Markus in the eyes and let him know what had happen. "Yes. We've flirted on and off in the building and two nights ago we had coffee." She said.
"Two nights ago?" he asked, knowing well that she spent the night with him. And realized what Alison had done.
"Yes." She said widening her eyes and nodding.
Markus nodded along and glanced at Amanda, before he spoke, "Well mom. I hope you're safe. And I hope he makes you happy." He said.
Completely taken aback by this, Amanda raised her head and turned to Markus, surprised. "He does." Alison said with a soft smile.
"He better. If not, he's gonna have me to deal with." Laughed Markus.
"Wait, that's it?" asked Amanda still in shock. "She just admitted that she's having an affair. And you're fine with it?"
"I'm sorry, who are you?" asked Markus.
"Markus, this is Amanda." She said.
"Okay?" he said.
"We work in the same office. I replaced her position." Alison said.
Markus held his silence for a moment before he spoke. "Given that she told you about the apparent guy she's having coffee with. I'm guessing you two are close." He said, "And I'm not sure how close the two of you are or how much she's told you of our family. But I can tell you this. I'm well aware of how distant she's grown with my dad over the years. Most kids don't think like this. But seeing mom at home on her own all day. Wasn't easy. Dad's always travelling. It wasn't easy. I've often wondered why they didn't bother getting a divorce. Things probably won't change much regardless." He confessed.
Amanda nodded, "I'm well aware of all that." She said.
"So you know." He said shifting between the two women.
"I do." Amanda, spoke meeting his eyes.
Markus met her eyes and could not believe all the dirty stuff they've talked about was about this woman sitting in front of him. He was raging a semi throbbing in his pants. "My mom and I are... Very close." He said, "I'll have her back no matter what." He said.
"What I would give to have a man in my life who supports me so much." She laughed.
"Aren't you engaged?" asked Alison. Stepping into their conversation.
"Bitch, shut up." Said Amanda, laughing.
"Did you just call my mother a bitch?" Markus asked faking a surprised look.
"You're not the only one close with your mother." Said Amanda with a little pride. "I'm close with her in ways you're not." She teased him, being a little flirty.
"If this was anyone else, I'd probably threaten to spank." He said, "Since you're a close friend. I think I'll let that slip." He teased.
"Maybe you shouldn't." she teased.
"What the fuck are you two doing?" blurted out Alison.
The flirting duo burst into laughter. "Come on, mom. Relax." He said.
Alison rolled her eyes and sat back. Grabbing the menu again.
Having already spoke about the threat of getting caught with someone. Both Markus and Alison were very cautious of every word they spoke. But Markus did make it a point to have fun. Flirting back with Amanda openly. Taunting the annoyed Alison was a quite the sight.
Just before the waitress came back, Amanda received a text from her fiancΓ©, that he couldn't make it. Amanda was actually glad. She was having fun, with Alison and her son. He was bold and wasn't opposed to flirting back with her. Especially seeing how annoyed Alison got seeing them get along.
