The Twins Weave CH:3
Treachery:
Training is the same as it is every day, we focus on the principles and answer questions about what has been read so far. I keep reminding them that I didn't even start until I finished book three.
Mother and Evanora are off to the side and discussing what they read and doing spells randomly to see if the other can see them. Mother evocation and Evanora divination.
Abi is sitting on Mother's bed focused on something else, so we leave her be.
Harold is on book three and he seems to really want to do this and hasn't been his normal bully type self since we had the group meeting. He's got a goal to re-attain and is pushing to get there. They work together as a duo.
"Okay, we have a problem." Abi looks over, getting Father to come here now. Abi waves us off and goes back to what she was doing, "We'll talk when he gets here."
"What is it?" Father says as he walks in.
"The Princesses are upset that they are not allowed to attend the event, and the King has the same blanks in his memory that you and mother have," Abi replies. "I started searching the guards and I think the four were decoys and it is all of them as all but the four also have blanks in their memories."
"Is this what the King mentioned? You were missing something and to dig deeper?" I ask from his last remarks. "He said they were scrying him so he couldn't say more."
Now that it is getting closer, I was catching thoughts of capturing the four and then continuing with the plan but couldn't find anything concrete as thoughts and imagination are so close so you can't trust them. Reaching back, I started looking for gaps and found quite a few and they are at the same time each day as if they are getting briefings behind a ward I can't see through.
"We should expect a rather large force coming through the ring, and the portal James makes the night of the dance." Abi finishes.
"The Kings and the Inquisitors both," Father says and starts pacing.
"I can't portal to my Velho room or the library as those two places are probably being trapped or watched but I did walk out the wrong door when searching for the training field that is on an empty side of the Library. I can use that to get close enough to review their plans." I start thinking about what I can do from their side. I don't want to kill them, but I can wipe their memories of ever knowing of us and then work my way through the King's side. We are only talking about a dozen or so people that are organizing this.
"How long will it take?" Father asks.
"Not long. Though I can put a one-way portal to where? In front of the ring so they just keep going?"
"I don't want to keep them here. How about the Wastes?" Father replies.
"Abi? If you can keep everyone outside of the Ring room in Velho, I can disable it and they will have to try and travel to the nearest ring from the island. There's no time, we can figure that out after this first part."
I create a portal in the room and Abi comes over, "We'll be back, Abi will stay in touch."
We step onto the path that leads down to the Ocean along the back half of the Library. Nobody comes out here so we are safe for now. Blocking the door so it will not open.
"Find the two security guards outside the ring, I'll find the eight that are running the show here," I ask and Abi nods.
Finding them is easy as I already have a link with them. Try a sleep on them and they slump down. I start running through the thoughts of the first one, looking for anyone he spoke to about this, and grab the new addition. Removing our information is going to take a while as there are thousands of thoughts for not just me but the family and the agreement with the King. Hate to do this but, I wipe everything and move to the next person and repeat the process until all eight are done and then I search for the additional names and find they are not here, though it is expected as three of the names are kings of their lands. This might be why the King went along, I'll check that later.
Abi is looking at me and I shrug, "They want to harm my people, they at least get to start over."
"The two guards are not going to look into the room," Abi says so I portal into the room and remove the inside connectors leaving just a metal outer ring with a hole in the middle. Next, set my own in there that puts people back into the library down one the very long aisles I walked that nobody else seemed to care about and get back to Abi.
"
Let's go home." We portal to father's study and head to the ring room in Tovenaar's office.
"Lord James, Lady Abi?" Tovenaar stands up as we march through his office.
"In a hurry, Father will get you up to speed after, we are going to have to block this off until further notice." Abi says to Tovenaar as I get to the room and add a portal directly in front of the ring that will send anyone that steps through to the same aisle in the Library. Anyone that doesn't physically travel here will end up in Velho for a while. We take the confused Tovenaar out of the office and bar the door and walls so nobody can get in or out without quite a bit of force.
Back in the Mother's room we describe everything we've done since we left and I let them know I'm going to chat with the King via the channel. I take a drink and nod as Father and Abi are connected; she will let them know what is going on.
"Your Majesty, I was wondering if you were actively participating with the plan for this evening or if you were going along because the Inquisitors and other Kings were applying pressure?"
"More of the latter, though they are using some of my guards and some of their own." He replies and I look over at Abi and she nods.
"I wouldn't send your guards through your ring as it could take months to return. I've replaced the inquisitor's ring and every Inquisitor that knows of this has been taken care of and will need to be replaced. Your last message could have been a little less cryptic as they planned on taking your entire kingdom after finishing with me."
"Is that it then?"
"I'll create the portal for Cateline and Amice, you are still to bring the Queen and enjoy yourself but I'm going to need you to challenge the other three kingdoms today. If they attempt to push us around again, they need to do it with more than words. All challenges will be accepted."
"Let me talk to the Queen and see if she can be ready in time." The king replies and we end it there.
"Is it safe to have this still?" Mother asks.
"I'll have guards on high alert, and nobody can get here without physically traveling as the distances are too great without the rings," Father replies.
"Nice work on giving the King continued status on being able to challenge the other Kingdoms, if this doesn't work, he doesn't deserve to remain," Father says to me.
"What did you do to the inquisitors James?" Evanora asks next to mother.
"Ahhh, that; I wiped their memories, it was ugly, but they get a second chance versus the alternative," I reply.
"They can't just be fixed by someone else?" Neivia asks.
