CHAPTER FOUR

SHELLEY BEACH

Shelley Beach is a small secluded beach inside a small private inlet which was purchased by our grandfather. It comprises the beach and eleven hundred acres of surrounding land. The inlet has two headlands; the high southern headland has an old Queenslander which was built by our grandfather. This is a huge house that has been sub divided so that two families can live comfortably. The big wide veranda affords accommodation for all the teenagers allowing them privacy whilst on holiday.

On lower ground a modern house has been built, this houses our cousin Angie and her parents. A large green lawn runs down to a low sandy bank onto the beach. Behind this house, an old garage stands which was the accommodation whilst the new house was being built. Other than an old kerosene fridge with a table and running water the garage is empty.
